Amazing Plants and Wildlife
Nov 2020
Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park is one of my favorite parks & nature preserves in North Miami. Admission and parking are free. There are nature trails through the beautiful forest, as well as a farm, butterfly garden, playground, and plenty of open green space. The abundance of plant and animal life is a nature photographer's dream, and I will keep returning. The only negative is that every time I visit, including today, there are homeless trying to live under the picnic shelters, and probably illegally sleeping in the park after closing as well.

Peaceful Park

A quiet respite in a busy urban area. Very nice picnic area. An LGBTQ memorial was quite the surprise.

A hidden gem in NOMI
May 2018 • Solo
Take a drive into the Enchanted Forrest and you’ll be in for a big surprise: a quiet recreational area for families with kids, adults and seniors wanting to be in a natural setting with trees and animals alike. The Forrest’s activities include pony rides, a tot lot and pavilions for picnics. During the summer and school breaks the N Miami Parks & Recreation Department organizes a day camp too. Special events are held at the park under the NoMi P& R management.

first time with grand kids
Apr 2018 • Family
this was our first time here with our two grandkids ages 4 and 5. Their first time on a pony. There was also a small petting zoo for them. Great place for first ti.me seeing of different animals that they would not normally see if living a city. Also a nice nature walk for them

A glimpse of Pioneer Florida in this woody oasis on urban Biscayne Corridor
Dec 2017 • Couples
Small, unassuming park on busy 135th street and Biscayne Boulevard. The tree canopy and relatively dense brush along the winding hiking trail give a feeling of being much deeper in the woods than you really are. There is a creek running through the park and the adjacent Arch Creek Park, with a wooden bridge and walkway.
These two sites provide a glimpse of Florida in pioneer days. There is an old trail that is believed to have been used by Native Americans before European contact. There is protected native habitat, a historical museum, and some educational programs and activities.
There is also a children’s playground.

The beauty here is subtle, not big and showy. Look for the elegance of the white egrets, or the flash of colors on the turtle’s cheeks, and experience Florida before strip malls, neon lights, and manicured golf courses. Talk with museum staff or volunteer guides, or just listen to the wind and water.

Insider’s tip: There is a small riding stable in the Enchanted forest side. Check website or call ahead for hours and services.

Insider’s tip two: The walking trails are also the riding trails. Look out for horse apples!

Insider’s tip three: You may see local artists painting al fresco or in one of the shelters, capturing the natural beauty.
