Trash Creek Park
Nov 2020
I had not been to this location in many years, so I was eager to return and explore. Upon arriving, I was shocked to see that Arch Creek was filled with trash, and the shorelines were cluttered with trash that apparently accumulated over a long period of time as well. In my opinion the staff should be both fired and embarrassed for their laziness to maintain the nature preserve, and were probably too busy sleeping in the visitor center. Despite this disgusting negative, I still enjoyed hiking the nature trails (despite the fierce mosquitos) and saw an amazing abundance of plant and animal life. I saw brown anoles, bark anoles, ameivas, gray squirrels, dragonflies, iguanas, and much more. I would still return, but I hope the County makes the park staff do their jobs, or replaces them with staff that will.

Arch Creek Park

Arch Creek is a small park , a museum, parking, no fee, water with a pond, a bridge, good staff, tables for picnic, paths too walk, birds and animals. Remember to wear shoes and bring insect repellent. If you want to check nocturnal life at dusk bring a flashlight.

Interesting trails, a mini everglades type experience, take the kids or grandkids. Can't afford Fairchild Tropical Garden? This little park is excellent.

Gem in the City

Small park with a 1-mile walking trail. Being in the trail was wonderful, you feel like you are a world apart then you see cars and convenience stores and realiz you are in the city. The park is full of history and there's an attendant that answers questions about the park. I loved this little gem.

History in North Miami
Aug 2016 • Solo
Just west of US 1 on NE 135th St., the entrance can be easy to miss. The park is very small but it's good to know the history of the area. There is a small one-room museum. The walking paths are lined with logs so you know you are on the path. There are a couple meeting areas with benches and fire pits, the areas could us some maintenance. There is a butterfly garden and I saw several throughout the park. I also saw several large green iguanas. The canal by where the arch bridge was located was littered with trash. You can see everything there is to see in this park in 30 minutes or less. The Enchanted Forest Park is just west of Arch Creek across the railroad tracks.

"Surprise! Beautiful little park"
Aug 2016 • Couples
We have driven by this park innumerable times and did not take the time to stop in to explore it until today. The museum houses artifacts "dating back from 500BC to the 1950"". The park employee in the museum gave us a "self-guiding trail map" and off we went walking along the tree line paths and the military trail. The road lead from "Fort Dallas in Miami to Fort Lauderdale, until the railroad was built" according to the brochure. We must have passed by the Tequesta Indian Site without seeing it, which means we will have to go back one day soon.
There is a butterfly garden towards the back of the property. It is "1 1/4 acre Environmentally Endangered Lands" with many plants that will attract butterflies. We did see many butterflies and we wanted to take pictures of them, however, they did not cooperate and hang around long enough for us to get a photo of them.
There a few benches along the way so that you can stop and rest and watch nature.
It is well worth spending part of an afternoon is this quiet lovely park contemplating history and nature.

Arch Creek Park for Carl Mertes
Apr 2016 • Solo
Arch Creek Park is a very nice small park in North Miami with some interesting history.
In addition to the museum there are some picnic tables and a couple of outdoor assembly areas. There is a nice walking trail through the wooded area and there were a fair number of butterflies floating around, in addition to some big lizards, and a raccoon.
