Our family of four - me and my husband, our two kids (9 and 12), plus my dad - booked a private tour with these guys. Wow! It was amazing. We did a four hour loop, starting in the gulf and paddling through Blind Pass Beach, then down along Buck Key, through the mangrove trail

We had a fantastic, relaxing time on our kayak tour. Unfortunately, I don’t remember our guides name, but she had beautiful long red hair! She was fun to kayak and chat with and she did a great job teaching. She was very kind and personable. Prior to the trip all of our

Our tour on 12/29/19 exceeded expectations! It was interesting and appealed to my nature lover self. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and full of passion for the ecosystem and its non-human inhabitants. I called several days prior to ask advice on which time /day/tide schedule

Good Day to All Who May Be Concerned, I turn on my computer around 6:30am - 6 days a week. Immediately, I turn on the tide charts and 7 day weather forecast that covers Sanibel/Captiva, North Captiva and Cayo Costa. Its important to have and give accurate information to our guests that want to boat, fish, shell, kayak or SUP in our area. Whether you choose to get on the water that day, next week or months later our goal is to give guests the best information for their recreational experience. Weather is often defined as being predictably unpredictable. But, as the old saying goes "Time and Tide wait for no man", it rises and falls and it is predictable. Yes, I spoke with a member of your party before your arrival on Sanibel/Captiva about kayaking the Buck Key Mangrove Water Trail during Thanksgiving Week. We discussed the fact that you can not paddle through the water trail at low tide or often within 2hrs after dead low tide and discussed times to avoid during your stay. I did ask that you call before arriving and your kayaks were set up and ready. I believe that you arrived around 10am (within an hour of dead low tides passing). When you arrived our team again advised you (as I had) that there was not enough water in the trail to immediately paddle through, you chose to paddle. They recommended a route to explore and enjoy until the water rose sufficiently to paddle back through the Mangrove Trail. Yes, paddles do strike or hit bottom during low tides. But, low tide rising is a magical time as you can observe marine life and wildlife on the exposed grass flats, around Buck Key, Red Mangrove root systems and oyster shoals. At low tide on the flats and around the base of the Red Mangrove root system you can observe a variety of shell species and marine life. As the tide rises over the flats herons, egrets, ibis, osprey, eagle, Brown Pelican, White Pelicans come out to hunt over the flats and in the natural channels. Bait fish, schooling mullet, sheepshead, redfish, sharks, snook, dolphin, otter, manatee and much more.... all pass through and live in and around Roosevelt Channel, Buck Key, Pine Island Sound all possible to be observed and enjoyed without disturbing natural activity. Our team of Naturalists, Biologists and Outdoor Enthusiasts are courteous, knowledgeable and work to guide tours, offer recommend paddling routes for self guided tours, answer questions and explain the nature of wildlife, marine life, history, habitat to our guests. In addition they instruct our guests with paddling skills (as needed) to have a safe fun trip by kayak or SUP. They also offer assisted launches and landings. The base rental time is 2.5hrs - you went out about 20 minutes one way and 20 minutes back. Certainly not considering the advice and recommendation of our team to enjoy the area and accomplish your objective. Travel time on Sanibel/Captiva during Holiday weeks is never fast and like the rise and fall of the tides its above my pay scale or ability to control. Thank you for your perspective and feedback. Sincerely, Brian Houston Adventure Sea Kayak & SUP
