If you are in the New Smryna Beach area and wish to understand the estuaries and intercoastal waterways (Not built by the Army Corp of Engineers) then a tour of the Mosquito Lagoon (Indian River) with the excellent Master Naturalists located at the Marine Discovery Center. My wife, daughter and I enjoyed a great day seeing up close the system... More

My friends and I did this on a girls trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the knowledge that Lisa provided us. We were really hoping to see Manatees but we still enjoyed ourselves on the river kayaking and laughing together. Lisa was extremely knowledgeable in the surroundings from the vegetation to the history of the area which was absolutely fantastic.... More

Great place to take kids 6 years old up to 95. We went to the center to look at the displays, but our son and his family went on the discovery cruse and the 2 hour pontoon ride with and knowable tour guide was very informative.

We stopped in here to see what the place was all about after driving past the signs many times. It's actually on the old high school site and still has a focus on education. There are about a dozen tanks with different types of sea life and a slew of other artifacts. The volunteers who work there were eager to... More

My husband and I biked from the Riverview to the Marine Discovery Center. It was fairly close by just over the bridge. We liked it, but its small and there aren't that many exhibits. The gift area was just as big and there was no one there to answer questions so I was a little disappointed.

So we were driving around looking for something to do in New Smyrna and found this little gem. Totally set up for the younger kids but interesting for us older ones too. Good introduction to some of the marine wildlife of Florida.

I took my grand daughter here for a visit. She loved it. They have many hands on activities for little kids. They have face painting and wildlife to tough. A great day.

Our kayak tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Florida. The tour guide (Lisa?) was FANTASTIC! She was nice, very knowledgeable and patient with us beginners. She even recommended a restaurant for us which we ended up going to and LOVING (Wake Up Cafe in New Smyrna Beach). I recommend the kayak eco-tour to anyone who loves... More
