We sailed to this island and really enjoyed it! The mosquitos and gnats will eat you alive with or without bug spray. The lighthouse was pretty neat to see but a hot walk for young children during the day. We hiked to the east to...More

When we took a dolphin cruise tour from Sponge Dock in Tapon Spring last year, the returning point is the anclote reserve Park. We all landed on the island, walked around and picked some shells. There is no one living there, basically it is just...More

The gulf side of this island has the best beach in Florida in my opinion. Only accessible by boat. Camping used to be allowed by permit-not sure if it is any longer. Gnats are truly worse than you could imagine, being lots of repellant.

You need some way to get there, boat, kayak, canoe, jet ski. Worth the trip, the beach is very nice. Walking trails are nice and interesting to see the history of the island.

There is a lot to discover. Look for shells or watch the wildlife. The beach is white sand and plenty of places to sit and eat or even doing a bbq. You won’t be disappointed.
