My daughter recently attended a week long Guy Harvey fishing camp at this place. She cannot wait until next year to do it again. The staff is excellent; friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Children learned about marine conservation, had plenty of outdoor fun-kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fossil hunting, and, of course fishing! The highlight of the week was the deep sea fishing trip, and fish fry. Great place to learn about marine habitats and the importance of being caring environmental stewards.
As a parent, I liked that they had plenty of sunscreen available and had the kids re-apply often. Also, you had to show a photo id to pick up your child, every day. This may sound silly after the first three days, but considering the amount of kids they have all summer, it is a great policy to have in place.

Great opportunity to see a Sea Turtle in its natural environment (via man made reef..lol).
Gorgeous day when we went, relatively calm, visibility had to be 15 - 20 feet minimum. Saw numerous fish (trigger, tarpon, etc), but the real bonus came when a couple told us they had seen two sea turtle in the far corner of the reef. My buddy and I headed in that direction....no luck at first, but then he smacked me and pointed to one of my bucket list items.....seeing a sea turtle swimming free in the ocean! Was able to get within a half dozen feet of it...did not want to disturb it....so after observing it for 10 minutes or so...headed back to shore....SO DANG COOL!!!!

If you are wearing a swim top you will have to buy a $20 T-shirt to get in and not to mention they do not have all sizes. I think this is ridiculous. My daughter had a tankini top on. Ok..you are at the beach..what difference does it make as long as your parts are covered. Admission is $5 which I do not mind at all. Great education for all to help save turtles.

This was started to promote the better understanding of the marine ecosystem along the Florida Gulf Coast back in ’08. Over 4,000 students from ALL over the Panhandle and tons of visitors to the Navarre Beach area have come to learn more about the marine environment. It’s a jewel that not many folks know about; however, students from K-12 love to spend time there learning about marine life and how it affect every day life.
Keller Williams Realty’s Navarre Dream Team spent a day last year working on the building as we painted both some of the inside and the entire outside along w/rearranging most all of the insides of this GR8 attraction in our community.

This place is a great day camp in the summer. The instructors take you out kayaking on one day, fishing another day, and snorkeling on the other day. I learned a lot about marine biology.

Went to dive the artificial reef, thank goodness another diver who had been there, requested to join our group and showed us around. The visibility was 5-10ft at best and the max depth was only 11ft at high tide. The reef was okay, with the really low visibility. The other diver assured us that on good visibility days we could see turtles, trigger fish and tarpon. O'well, maybe next time. The facilities at the park and the beach were great.

I went with a group of divers to check out the artificial reefs. The visibility was very poor, most likely due to the recent rain. We will probably try again in the fall/winter. The beach was beautiful and there are several pavilions that can be rented. They have nice boardwalks and showers and restrooms.

When you come to Navarre you and your family must visit the Marine Science Center. You get to see the creatures from the gulf. They have a special room that you would most definitely love to sit in and watch what they have done. It's awesome.

Check the website for their programs on sea turtles or the Gulf artificial reefs. The programs are interesting and informative and worth the time. This is a great addition to Navarre Beach.

Can you snorkel around the reef?
AJ L
Navarre, FL
Yes, you can snorkel around the artificial reef. I have done this. The reef begins about a hundred yards off the beach, so I recommend that you be a very good swimmer and try to do it on a day when the ocean is calm for better visibility and easier swimming. I have seen other people out at the reef with a blow up type boat with an anchor tied to it. I think that is a great idea because otherwise there is no where to hold onto something if you want to take a break from the swimming before snorkeling again, especially if you dive down for a better look at the turtles and fish. If you don’t dive then use a life vest to have an easy, safe snorkel on top the water.
