We decided to take in a show while in Naples and picked up tickets to Mary Poppins. We were very pleased with the quality of the production. The lead actors were very polished, the costumes were excellent, and the music well produced. We were very impressed with the choreography. There did not appear to be any "bad" seats. Seating is limited and everyone has a great view of all the action. The lobby area is quite nice with displays of prior shows and costumes. It also has a nice bar area if you come early. I was impressed the area of cast photos included pictures of the crew.

We were on our first trip to Naples and decided to attend The Wedding Singer. The play was very well done. It was very entertaining. If all their shows are this quality you should go. The facility is not large and probably seats 300-400 people. They had a bar for drinks during the show. It was a fun evening.

This was my first visit to the theater and we saw "I hate Hamlet". The performance was excellent. The story interesting and the actors on the top of their game. I would visit again...truly a hidden gem. Well done to all that made it possible.

Here is another Arts oriented choice here in Naples. On the main drag in downtown Naples, the Sugden Theater is mid-ships between 41 & Gulfshore on 5th Ave So. Lovely plaza & sandwiched between Inn on 5th, Truluck's, & Yabba.
Not to get into the plays, playwrights, acting etc as it's play & patron specific, but the word-the-wise is read the reviews of what's playing.
The community center is in SWFL so expect cinder-block walls. The entry way, will-hold counter, waiting area is spacious enough. The seating is comfortable like a movie theater. The stage is below you; there are two sections. No bad views.
Acoustics not a issue nor lighting.
Parking can be a chore; go to dinner before. Restrooms are ok.

We loved the performance- quite professional! The theater itself is very comfortable. For a community theater, you will enjoy high-level plays.

As full time Naples residents we have season tickets at Artis, Gulfshore Playhouse and as of this year at The Naples Players and tonight we saw our "Don't dress of Dinner". The quality of the actors were superb and the comfort of the larger theatre was excellent.
Easy access from 4th or 5th Aveunes, light & bright inside, full bar, huge windows and comfy seating in the lobby. Friendly employees talking about upcoming shows.
The show was 2.5 hours with 1 short intermission and for only $40 we had 1st row seating! What a deal! It's a small/medium sized theatre (even though they call it their large theatre) so every seat was good and when you leave, no long lines and by the time we got to our car 1 block away, we had no traffic leaving "in-season". If you valet w/Trulucks next door, you will wait as many use the valet for the restaurant and the theatre so it's actually easier to find 1 block away parking on the street or free garage parking.
We love the upcoming selection of shows this season and very excited to be apart of incredible local theatre @ the Sugden.

Since coming to Naples in 2005, we have made a point of attending many theatrical productions. We mainly focus on musicals. All shows have been expertly produced, with outstanding talent, vocally and instrumentally. We have never been disappointed. There isn't a bad seat in the main hall. Recently we were WOWWED by KIDZ ACT, This group of talented young people are the PLAYERS feeder program. We saw JOSEPH/DREAMCOAT performed. This young cast blew us away. When in Naples seek out a PLAYERS performance. You will be thrilled of the quality you see and hear.

During a recent trip to Naples, my family and I toured the Naples Players Theatre. The theatre has a very stately appearance from the street with its large front entrance and lighted palm trees decorating the area. The inside is equally as nice and the big theatre has seating to support a large crowd with each seat having a good view of the stage. Definitely recommend this theatre to others.

We have been coming to the Naples/Marco Island area for over 24 years, so to say that we know our way around is a bit of an understatement. With that being said, it is funny how, just when you think that you really know a place, an unexpected treasure pops up.
This was the case with our first notice of the Naples Players theatre. We were strolling along 5th Avenue, wandering in and out of shops, when a commotion caught our eyes, across the street. It was an outdoor performance, right in front of the Sugden Theatre - a place we had never noticed before. We wandered up to the ticket window where a very nice woman filled us in on the upcoming performance. We love any live theater so we purchased excellent, very reasonably priced tickets for several nights out.
On the evening of the performance we dined at Bistro 821 before heading to the theater. (A wonderful choice just down the street.) We arrived early to look around, and purchased two glasses of wine at $4 each. What a surprise as a glass of wine at our home theater is twice that! We were also taken by the beautiful facility and expert performance given by the players. Bravo! We will definitely return!

Each Thursday at 10:30 am, by reservation only, you can experience a wonderful docent led tour of the 3 floors of the Sugden Theater. The tour is an easy walk and all floors are accessible by elevator. The tour includes a history of theater in Naples and a visit to each of the following rooms: the 3 stages, construction, prop, costume, makeup, and the rehersal. Along the way you will encounter countless dedicated volunteers as they enthusiastically tackle a job. It was a memorable tour open to all ages and it is free, although it is nice to give a donation.

I'm confused. There seem to be two theatre companies in Naples, Naples Players and Gulfshore Playhouse. The first says it been in existence since the '50s; the second says it's a professional theatre. Which is better? Or should I just go to which ever plays appeal to me most. Odd to see that both are doing "My Fair Lady" in the next season. As I said, confusing for those of us who visit but are not Naples full time residents. Any honest insight would be appreciated. thanks so much

Naples Players is a volunteer organization in operation for over 50 years. All actors are NOT PAID. Gulfshore Playhouse is a professional for profit operation. (PAID ACTORS) I have been a supporter/subscriber of the Naples Players for over 30 years. Seen some great performances. I have no opinion about the Gulfshore Playhouse.
