Took the short walk down the boardwalk through the swamp to do some birding. It was hot but we still saw a few great birds and enjoyed the walk.

I have lived in Naples for over 20 years and never knew of this beautiful outdoor sanctuary. The wildlife is spectacular and sightings of all sorts of birds is amazing. Once off the boardwalk keep going. It even gets better!!!

Caveat: watch for gators, hike with other people just to be safe. Oh, and it apparently needs to be said - don’t bring your pets. I saw folks with a dog off leash in an area where I’d seen multiple gators nearby.

I walked the whole 12.x mile loop, so my experience may have been different than other visitors. Almost the entire trail is on a six-to-15-foot wide old rail bed with swamp on both sides. It’s really beautiful, very peaceful, but you need to be prepared...More

I don't want to give the great review it deserves because I really don't want the area to become over crowded with human interaction- thereby making the wildlife recede further from mankind. I selfishly want to tell you to not waste your time there, but...More

As others have written, this hike is a journey into the Florida of old.....swampy land and lots of wildlife. Today we saw lots of little gators, great blue herons, snowy egrets, anhingas, red shouldered hawks, turtles. The path goes on for 12 miles but we...More

While visiting the Naples area, this trail was at the top of our must-do list. This is definitely Wild Florida at its best. We only hiked about 3 miles in then turned around. We saw cardinals, black vultures, turkey vultures, gnatcatchers, red shouldered hawks, turtles,...More

This is a wild place!!! Bring food and plenty of water for this hike. The first mile or two is easy, after that the grass is not kept down, so you need to be watching for the fire ant hills throughout and watching for snakes....More

There was a turkey vulture watching over when we arrived. We attached plastic bags to the wipers and windows. We didn't have any damage. Hope you have the same experience and enjoy this wonderful park.
