Before the Ride
We visited Marco Island for our 25th anniversary, per a recommendation from friends; we’re glad we went… what a great trip.
Before the trip, we thought a little about exploring the Everglades, but didn’t do much searching. One day we were just driving around and decided to check our Everglades City, ~ 30 minute drive from Marco Island.
On the way we saw an airboat place and I was immediately interested. As we drove we found others, including several in Everglades City.
On the drive back we confirmed that Corey Billie’s is the closest to Marco Island.
A couple days later we connected with some friends from home who were also in the SW Florida area, and the next thing we know we had a reservation for a Corey Billie Airboat ride. It was a LOT of fun!
- - -
The Ride
Carolyn and Havana, in the office, graciously got us signed in and ready, including providing ear muffs to keep the noise down.
Captain Ron and Jen were our leaders that day.
On the walk from the building to the airboat, we saw a large adult gator, at least 13 feet long… safely on the other side of the fence… an impressive way to start the day.
The ride goes through a big area, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly; never in danger.
Some space are more open, others are tight pathways through the mangroves. Captain Ron stopped at one point to show us the similarities and differences in red, black and white mangrove trees, and shared how they grow taller when there is more salt in the water
We happened to visit on a nice September day - farm but not hot… mostly clear sky with nice, big puffy clouds
And on the way back we learned of how some swamps and lakes are able to emit methane from the biomass decaying underwater.
- - -
After the Ride
One your way back in you can visit with Pat, who introduces you to some pet alligators that he has/is raising… they are safe and well kept, and you also get to pet them. Fun!

Thank you, Corey Billie - Carolyn and Havanna, Captain Ron and Jen - for a great adventure!

Fabulous trip, informative, exciting, exhilarating and Captain Josh was awesome! We saw plenty of Gators both in the water and hauled out onto platforms or on the banks of the water. We learnt a whole lot about the Mangroves and the Everglades and the flora and fauna that inhabits this weird and wonderful environment. Loads of birds and even a Roseate Spoonbill and Osprey. We went at the beginning of January and we were the only ones on the ride, so it felt very private and intimate. Captain Josh was fab-u-lous - he really knows his stuff and controls the boat with extreme skill. We didn't do the Gator 'meet and greet' offered at the end of the boat ride, but I am sure it meets animal welfare standards. Just a quick tip, we didn't have any cash on us and the site is quite remote in terms of it being a way away from the nearest cash machine and they don't offer any cash-back on site, so if you enjoy the trip and want to tip your Captain, take cash with you. I still feel super-guilty about not being able to tip Captain Josh - sorry Josh

If you are looking for a little bit longer ride this is the place for you! We’ve done a few of these and the ride here was longer and more educational than most. It was a windy day but the ride was still a blast and we felt very safe. The alligator show was fun and educational allowing everyone to safely hold the alligator. Reservations definitely recommended but not required- you may get lucky. I would at least recommend calling. Restrooms on premise. Cute gift shop. Book a trip you’ll enjoy it. Thanks Captain Tony and Paul!

Fun airboat ride in the everglades, we went at 4pm and were the only 2 passengers on Captain Moes airboat. Saw several large gators and got lots of info from Moe and he kept in interesting. It was worth it to see a part of Florida you never usually see so we recommend.

This was a great airboat ride through Everglades and the mangroves in the rain! Definitely worth the trip and a reasonable fee. I drove down to the Everglades specifically to do a Airboat tour even though it was raining and I stopped in the right place! I also enjoyed the alligator info and holding one! Check one off my bucket list! Thanks so much!!

My family of 5 (kids ages 6, 9, & 12) had a great time at Corey Billie’s! It was just the 5 of us on the airboat ride. Our captain was so knowledgeable and friendly! He did a great job of gauging how much speed we could handle and my kids had a blast. He told us all about the local ecosystem and so much about alligators. Then after the airboat ride, the alligator show was lots of fun! We each got to hold a 2 year old alligator and felt safe doing it as the guide was clearly an expert. My husband and I briefly spoke about which of our kids we thought would be interested in holding the alligator and they ended up all doing it! The guide didn’t ask if they wanted to, he confidently told them whose turn it was and they proudly stepped right up to hold the alligator! We were shocked and pleased. I would recommend this adventure to anyone interested in learning more about the Everglades and alligators.

My family usually loves all kinds of tours, but this one was incredibly disappointing. Our group of 7 (my parents, husband, and our 13, 11, and 4 year old children) had the most boring and rude captain. He didn’t interact with the children at all, and basically just regurgitated incredibly boring and rehearsed information. The boat ride itself was slightly fun when the captain wasn’t speaking, but it only lasted 30 minutes, followed by a 5 minute stop to hold a baby alligator. Not worth the $300+ in tickets. We even left a generous tip at the end, and the captain didn’t even say thank you. I regret leaving anything at all. I understand we were one of the last rides of the day, but staff should be professional enough to make every customer feel appreciated.
We will definitely try another airboat ride in the future since I think there is so much potential, but we will do so with one of their competitors.

Interesting tour lasting about 40 mins followed by a hands-on participatory demonstration with some young alligators. In summer the tours go out roughly every 30 mins if the weather permits but in the winter the extra visitors means that the frequency is 3 times that of the summer months. The company watch the weather radar carefully and will cancel trips if lightning is predicted

Good value airboat ride which sped through the mangroves and gave a great experience at traversing the waterways at a cracking pace. The trip was broken up by stops midwater to see certain features, trees, animals etc with humorous and knowledgable explanations from the skipper. The alligator count on the trip was low but if was still a pleasure to experience a ride on an airboat in such surroundings.
Additional interest is provided by a ‘hold an alligator’ experience as part of the ticket price($45) whereby you are invited to hold a three year old alligator raised in captivity.

Our visit to Coryey Billie"s was terrible. What a disappointment from our experience 2 years ago! We only saw 5 to 7 alligators on our 40-45 min ride. There was very little information provided by our guide. It states there is an alligator show as part of the entrance fee. There was no show. Not worth $45 per adult or $30 per child for this excursion. Don't waste your money. Our guide was smoking on the jet boat ride.

Is this the time of year to see any alligators? Are any tamed?
Written January 19, 2022
They do have some alligators that are in a pen near the airboat office. After the tour, they do a demonstration at the pen. There also was a very large alligator in the water near the boats that reportedly stays around since they feed it.

Can we arrange for private ride? If so, how much would it cost?

You can bring children of any age as long as you are comfortable taking responsibility for them. We have a children of infant age and even one to three years old enjoy the ride. FYI children three and under ride for free!

This may seem like a dumb question, but has anyone gotten sick (motion sick) on the boat tour? I really would love to do this but I have a fear of getting sick.

Motion sickness differs for everyone. Maybe take a Dramamine prior to your departure time. It is however a smooth glide across the lakes, tall sea grass, and between the canopies of mangroves.

Hello.
Is now the good time to do the visit? I want to bring some Italians friends. They will see the alligators?
Thanks

Its great fun all year around. Summers are hot and muggy. Seeing wildlife is probably better in the mornings that time of year. The fall into winter months are usually cooler and wildlife is prevalent most of the day.

is it available to get to hold the baby alligators a certain time or is it an all day exhibit?

Virement ?
Merci pour votre réponse

I took the ride with my two boys 3 years and 8 months and 5 years and 9 months without problem. They were put in the middle of the air boat between the parents.
Regarding opening times and seasonal please check their web site. I have no information about that.
