On a Mission Fishing Charters is a local guide service out of Naples, Florida run by Captain Wes Bedell and his son Captain Perry Bedell. On a Mission offers first class offshore and inshore charters with everything from spin to fly. Captain Wes runs a 24 ft Sabalo for offshore and nearshore charters and a 17 ft Mitzi skiff for the more technical anglers. Poling the backwaters and flats. The On a Mission team will accompany any party from expert anglers to novices who have never been saltwater fishing. Captain Wes has been fishing these waters his whole life and has been a local guide for the past 20 years. He proudly passes the torch onto his two sons Perry and Weston keeping his lifestyle a family tradition. Captain Wes is driven by giving your family and friends a great time and memories that will last a lifetime.

Had a great afternoon on the water with some friends and Captain Wes. There were 5 of us in our group and it was very comfortable. We drove through the mangroves, walked a private beach and saw a lot of wildlife including birds and dolphins. We also drove around a lot of fancy houses and daydreamed. Lol. Wes made sure we saw dolphins and they ended up jumping through our boat’s wake. Great day!

Capt Wes and his sons (Perry and Weston) are the best! Enthusiastic, client-focused, attentive to all the details. I have been out with them several times at different times of the year and in varying weather, and because of their knowledge, experience, and tenacity, we caught a boatful every time! Their boats allow them to handle rougher water than most, but they remain versatile for mangrove fishing if that's the right place to be.
My family loves going out with them, and I am looking forward to booking another trip soon!

We went out with Perry and Weston in June and caught big permit then went out in late August and caught mangrove snapper and Giant barracuda. It’s not just about the fish catching it’s really about the experience and these guys really know what they’re doing and fish hard year round for a variety of species and use a variety of techniques. We had a great time and had fishing so good one literally jumped in the boat!

Most decent business people will tell you that “good” customer service is easy when everything goes well, it’s when things start to go sideways that the “good” gets truly tested. When a customer has a less than expected experience, does the company apologize, empathize and try to come to a reasonable, mutually acceptable conclusion. Or does the company, blame, insult and otherwise show contempt for the customer.
This whole saga started with a 6 hour fishing trip with Capt. Wes Bedell. The whole experience was, in my opinion, less than spectacular, and then got worse. On the way off the boat, I was trying to quickly Venmo him the balance of the fee, $630. I was a little distracted and accidentally sent $730. I left wanting to put the whole experience behind me so as not to spoil the rest of my limited vacation. A few days later, I was going over my expenses for the trip and realized I had overpaid by $100. While tips, for a good experience, are customary, a $100 tip (“a great tip” as Capt. Bedell described it) is extraordinary.
He considers the $100 a tip for putting me on fish. One of the reasons I hire local guides is that they should know where the fish are, so congratulations to Capt. Bedell for meeting the most basic of requirements of knowing where the fish were but isn’t that a part of the basic fee? It has been on the dozens of fishing trips that my family and I have taken in the past.
He responded to my 1st text asking for a refund of the overage by saying that “he was going to pass my information along to his colleagues.” Later, he upped this to passing my information along to Fish Booker, Google and Trip Advisor. I guess in an attempt to black ball me. I later found out that doing so would be a breach of privacy and he could be held liable.
He blames me for the bad trip by saying that I “couldn’t cast”, that I “wasn’t ready to fish in Florida” and I “should go home and practice in my backyard.” I’ll admit that I had a few mis-casts due to not having very much experience with his ultra-light tackle, oh well. As to practicing in my backyard, I’m not sure the neighbors will appreciate my practicing his Tarpon call of “COME ON” which he repeatedly bellowed at the Tarpon as they jumped and rolled by us. No big loss, it didn’t work.
Trying to appeal to his better business sense, I reminded him that bad reviews can have a negative impact on his business. I even offered to remove the one that I did post. He replied by saying, my “reviews are absolutely worthless!!” and “I don’t care, they don’t scare me, people like you read them and stay away and that’s what we want!” So, that is how he feels about those of us who come down to Naples and spend our vacation $$ fishing.
I will not be surprised to find that he will respond by ranting about how terrible I was at practically everything under the sun and again, how its all my fault. “Good” customer service is NOT this Captain delivers.
So if you are reading this, my advice is to spend your money with someone who truly appreciates you.

Spent half day with captain Wes, 2 1/2 riding around to different fishing holes. Spent 10 to 15 minutes fishing at each spot. Only caught 2 fish that I couldn't keep. Lame

You failed to leave out the part where you didn’t listen to any of our instruction the whole entire charter and broke not one but two of our fishing rods because of the same mistakes. You also failed to mention all of the fish that were hooked and lost due to operator error! Always listen to your captain.

Awesome experience!!! They truly care about their client’s happiness. If there are no fish in one spot they will absolutely find them in a new spot!!! You will never find a nicer group to guide you on a day on the water! We had such a great experience that we will absolutely be repeat customers!! They truly love fishing and guiding and it shows. Their knowledge and experience about fishing in the area is like no other!!

Captain Wes was referred to me by a highly reputable owner/operator of one of the top fishing tackle companies in the US.
Wes was super responsive and easy to work with.
Definitely would recommend his company to anglers visiting the Naples area.

Wes and Perry were excellent, They put on fish first cast both days ! First day big red , second day triple tail .Does not get any better !!!Over a hundred fish two days .Thanks again.

Have been on a few charters with Capt. Wes and his boys, always a wonder experience!!! Both the fishing and the eco charters have been great! I had my 9 year old and 5 year old sons on the last fishing charter and they had a blast, they are amazing with kids. Definitely will keep going on charters with On A Mission.

Captain Wes took my family and I out on a half day fishing trip. It was amazing. He was very knowledgable and was very patient with us. He often fishes with his sons who are also captains and it really gives you a family fun feel. We caught tons of fish and had a great time doing it! We learned so much and saw a lot of different species. If you don't choose On a mission fishing charters, you're really missing out on a 10/10 experience.
