We had been directed to the marina by a "sights" sheet from the national park and the sheet said we could view manatees at the docks at this marina. When we got there and asked about the manatees, the clerk quickly said we couldn't see...More
Definitely has seen better days. I remember when this Marina was newer. The renters / clientele’s boats bring its appearance down. You might see 1 acceptable boat to every 4. Have some STANDARDS, enforce rules. Perception is reality. Dogs off leashes. Overflow of trash at...More
We just checked in, and I am utterly disappointed that we chose to spend one of our few family weekends in this absolute dump. This is far from luxury with the broken window shades (thanks because I now have to sleep with a bright orange...More
marina has a nice store, is very clean and the marina slots are in great condition. Store has a nice selection of souvenirs, tshirts, very nice jewelry, fishing supplies, snacks and cold ice cream for hot Florida days!
The trip does not go far. It does not need to as they are right in the area by the marina. We saw lots of animals. Guide was knowledgeable and was keen to tell us how expensive stuff is he needed for his boat and...More
Our hotel at Port of the Islands was a fabulous pick. The staff was very welcoming. We have a new friend Lisa, the hotel manager, who treated us like royalty! This hotel is on a marina and has easy access to manatee tours, Pelicans And...More

I'm sorry I cannot answer any better than this....when we went to one of the National Park entrances, the guide handed us a paper showing where to see certain animals and the marina was listed as being able to see manatees right off the docks.
When we got to the marina and asked if we could go on the docks to see the manatees, the clerk working the convenience store handed us a brochure and said we'd have to call the number on the brochure if we wanted to see manatees. The convenience store had only one type of tour company brochure available to give to visitors. She claimed you could not see the manatees from the docks, so apparently the NP sheet was in error.
I wish I could help you. I did ask the clerk when we returned to let the marina owner know what happened in case the owner wanted to pull the brochures from the store. Several men were in the store and indicated they were locals and expressed their frustration that this company "wasn't local" and even offered to find a private individual to take us for a boat ride. The locals were very kind and unhappy with our experience, but that's all I know.
It's not much help. Ironically all along the highway in that area were local air boat tours and many advertised manatee tours so there are plenty of tours out there. Sorry I couldn't be of better help.
