An absolute must if you like flying and have never experienced a sea landing and takeoff! We chose the lunch trip to Islamorada to dine at the Lorelei Restaurant so we could land on the water and disembark on the beach right at the restaurant.

All around great experience from booking to return landing. We booked directly with SIS and they helped us choose the perfect trip. Jon, our pilot, called the night before to tell us there would be wind but nothing too bumpy and gave us the opportunity to reschedule. We chose not to reschedule because two members of our family had to return north the following day and we were all seasoned fliers.

We took off from Naples airport and flew south mostly over land at around 3500 ft all the way to Islamorada. No words can describe the beauty of seeing the 10,000 Islands and Everglades from the air. The weather cooperated and our landing was surprisingly smooth for the light chop. After "taxiing" to the beach we disembarked to eat at the Lorelei right on the beach not 50 ft from the plane.

After lunch (drinks good/food delish) we took off from the water and landed back in Naples airport with the runway approach from the gulf for a wonderful view of Naples Pier, 3rd St and Tin City. Our pilot Jon was professional, friendly and informative. We hope to fly with him again.

Tips:
1. Our plane was small; 6 seats including pilot's. If windy you will feel it. I would not recommend taking a trip on a windy day if you don't like motion.
2. Be prepared to wade ashore if you land in the water. At the Lorelei the water was no more than knee deep and the bottom was a mix of sand, grass and smooth shell/rock. We were all comfortable wading barefoot but others may not be.
3. My 80 year old mother-in-law with a bad knee was able to get in and out of the plane with help, but the step up/down was pretty big.
4. Tell your waiter/waitress you are on a time limit. The Lorelei was busy and we had to wolf down our lunch to make our return home in our allotted time (1 1/2 hr allowed for lunch). We did have drinks and apps which slowed our lunch order.

Wow oh WOW! My wife and I chartered for a seaplane with Salt Island Seaplanes, March 30, 2017. This was added to her Bucket-List Key West Florida vacation for her 60th. Although it is not common to book just a sightseeing tour of Key West with Salt Island Tours, they had a flight coming into Key West from Fort Meyers and Jon Rector of Salt Island Seaplanes was most accommodating and we were able to charter a tour. We flew over the island of Key West then flew about 20 miles west to Marquesas. What phenomenal beauty we experienced. We managed to see shark, stingray and even a sea turtle!!! The pilot also flew us over a ship wreck which was amazing from an overhead view. Although the day presented us with lots of wind, the pilot, Tomas did an AMAZING job of takeoff, landing, maneuvering and master docking in such high winds!! Thank you Tomas for such an amazing tour as it was a great memory to add to her 60th birthday celebration. A dream come true to remember!!

I'm not a fan of long drives so did this 45 minutes flight from Naples to Key West. The pilot - Tomas - was excellent and personable and the plane is comfortable and quiet. The views are beautiful and it's so peaceful and quick that I definitely would love to do it again - and again! You can park for free at the Naples airport and the boat that takes you from the dock near the Key West ferry terminal to the plane is run by a friendly character - "Kentucky Jeff" - who makes sure your transfer is enjoyable. No TSA, no hassle - just a total delight. Highly recommend.

Amazing flight down over the keys! Wanted to see as much of Florida as we could and came across Salt Island Seaplanes whilst looking at driving times from Naples to Key West. You go from Naples Commercial Airport which is tiny and has free parking. There are only two pilots; we spoke to both and they were both excellent. The flight takes an hour and is spectacular. You land in the sea and a motor boat picks you up and takes you straight into harbour which is another fun part of the trip. We stayed two days and flew back and it was the highlight of our trip. We were also the only two people flying the days we flew so it was like having our own private seaplane. Treat yourself it's worth it and actually amazing value at $440 return.

Great experience flying with Tomas on a Salt Island seaplane out of Naples airport.
The flight to Key West was delayed due to an earlier departure being delayed, but Rose sent us an email/text to let us know. Great group of folks-hope to use them again soon.

I called and asked Rose what she recommended for a family of 4, ages 9 & 13, none except me had ever flew on a smaller aircraft. Rose suggested taking a lunch trip to Boca Grande as it was only about a 20 minute flight each way. Well, we had a great time!!! Spotted a shark, and many many manatees. Great performance by our pilot Tomas. Very professional and skilled. See you next time. It’s been the highlight of our visit. Thanks

It was our first time on a seaplane and initially it was tentative to be sure. Tomas was the very capable pilot who quickly belied our anxieties. The trip from Naples Florida to Key West was a smooth ride that took about an hour. The water landing in Key West was smooth and actually quite cool. His land landing was also smooth. The cost was more than the ferry but well worth the extra monies in the time savings. Three hours versus one for the seaplane. I think we'll do this again next year.

Wow, less than an hour to get to Key West from Naples! Tomas is a great pilot who is super punctual, safe, interesting and passionate about flying. We enjoyed getting to know him during our flight to Key West and back a few days later. The water landing was really cool and both of our flights smooth and easy with beautiful scenery. The day before our seaplane flight we had a weather issue in Iowa and missed our flight to Florida. Rose cheerfully took care of moving our seaplane flights a day further out, which we really appreciated as we would have otherwise missed our Key West flight. Tomas and Rose are great employees who really seem to enjoy what they do and we look forward to flying with Salt Island Seaplanes again on our next visit!

WOW, talk about a first-class experience with Salt Island! Just returned from our day trip to Key West. Saved 12 hours of driving (6 hours one way), got to see killer views of the Gulf, Florida's coast and the Keys all in a single day, back just in time for dinner.

Tomas was our amazing pilot, top-notch service and very informative. While this felt like an experience of a lifetime, doing a water landing and cruising at such a low altitude plus getting to the Keys in an hour was one thing, CONVENIENT!

Time is money and I highly recommend Salt Island! Thanks for the awesome flights and time!
