Greens in great shape but fairways sub par. Any tee shots not in middle of fairways seem to funnel down into the woods. Need a Marshall on the course. Me and my playing partner were almost hit a couple of times by the idiot behind us who was hitting several balls. Told guy at clubhouse and he said he would talk to him.Pace of play was good.

We’re from Michigan and I guess were spoiled by our courses and the prices but I have to admit that Blackstone was very well kept, the pace was good and a degree of difficulty was there.I enjoyed it not being flat and some of the raised tee boxes made it both challenging and scenic. We stay at Panama City Beach so the drive is more then we like bur it’s well worth the money.

My sons and I played Blackstone Golf Course this past week. I've played there many times, but this past week's golf outing was a Scramble tournament to support a great local children's charity, the Emerald Coast Autism Center (ECAC).
Lots of charities hold golf outing fundraisers, and many courses are generous enough to host such events. But I don't think I've ever seen a golf course staff that invests more time, energy, and concern for the success of a charity fundraising event than I've seen at Blackstone. I think this is the second or third year that ECAC has held this fundraising tournament at Blackstone, and the event just keeps getting better every year.
The course was groomed so well it looked as if we golfed on the day of the "grand opening." The greens were fabulous, almost perfectly groomed...without a weed, a ball-mark, or even the aeration holes one might expect to see in the spring. The fairways were lush and green, too. The grounds team has spent a lot of time thinning a few of the pines to cut the forest density outside the fairways. This will allow more room for the remaining trees to grow without being stunted. They've chipped out many of the pine stumps that remained, and really cleaned up the ruff areas nicely since the last time I played there. It's obvious that they have a vision they're working toward, and it's coming together wonderfully.
Carts were almost like new. They're all electric, and sometimes I've played at clubs where the electric carts "died down" toward the end of a round of 18. But these carts drove like new all day long. The course provided insulated bag drink coolers for the drinks we were given before we tee'd off, too...nice!
The clubhouse was immaculate, inside and out. The plantings around the building are still dormant from the winter...we've had night temps below freezing this week still. But the grounds are well-kept. The clubhouse kitchen put out some great lunches before the golfers hit the course. Course crews met us in the parking lot to ask if we would like help carrying our clubs to the carts. The entire place was spectacular.
But the think that stuck me most significantly, was the dedication this course crew put into this charity event. It was obvious that the charity was important to the staff, because there was no "standing around" going on...everyone from the bartender to the course manager was "busting hump" to make sure all the golfers had everything they needed, and that everyone had a great time. They had to do a lot of extra work to set up all kinds of things to support the charity event, including hole contests, drink and food tables, tables for raffle items, and more. It just seemed as if the staff couldn't do enough to make sure everyone had a fantastic day.
All in all, this was the best charity golf outing I've ever participated in. And the crew at Blackstone deserve a lot of praise for their efforts to ensure that it was successful.
I've played at Blackstone many times, and I should also say that it's about the best bargain in golf that you'll find on the Emerald Coast. There are other courses in the area where you can play for a similar cost. But none of the courses where you'll see such low greens fees will be nearly as well groomed and cared for as Blackstone. It's fantastic. And the people who work there couldn't be nicer.
I'm a big fan.

We are snowbirds staying in the Destin area. We learned of Blackstone recently, played it today, and will return as soon as we can. The fairways are over seeded with rye and the greens are Bermuda. The course is in great shape, with lots of challenging, but fair, terrain changes. It reminds us of tree lined Carolina courses. The prices are very reasonable. It's a hike from Destin, about an hour's drive, and well worth it.

Blackstone Golf Course in Mossy Head Florida is a real treat! You will need all fourteen clubs to negotiate this challenging golf course. The elevation changes cannot be appreciated by looking at the photos. The greens are fast and true. The staff are helpful and eager to please. If you are visiting the Destin/Ft. Walton/Crestview area and play golf do yourself a favor and visit Blackstone. You will not be disappointed.

It's worth the drive to play this gem. We were staying in Destin and played most of the courses in the area. We thought we would try Blackstone for something different and boy were we glad we did! This will be a definite "must play" course every time we visit. The reasonable green fees is what caught our attention initially, but now it the quality of the course that will keep us going back.

My family came to visit and we heard about this course through the golfer grapevine. It was a little drive from Niceville/Destin area but well worth the drive. Beautifully kept grounds, challenging holes, and attentive staff. We only got in 9 holes due to rain but enjoyed the course.

well maintained, excellent challenge. several choices of tees, fast greens. functional, yet attractive clubhouse, and no cracks and bumps on the cart paths. keep an eye on balls hit off the fairway, as they tend to sink in the grass. balls hit into the trees lining some holes are relatively easy to find, though, as the areas have been cleared of debris. a few interesting holes where the tee and the green are at the same level, yet in-between is downhill then uphill.

What a wonderful surprise and find. Blackstone Golf Course was not a typical Florida course. The up and down hills and ravines made the course a challenge. The elevation changes were extreme and fun. The course is beautiful and the grounds are very well taken care of. They were something you would expect to see at a private golf and country club. The staff were great. You have to play this course if you have a chance. The prices are great and a lot less than you would expect. One of the best courses I've ever played.
