The highlight for us were the captivating photos of George Daniell, which is a temporary exhibit that took up about half the museum. We spent about 70% of our time there. The rest was interesting - as other have said, if you go, look for the Disney drawings (I won’t look at the 7 dwarves the same way again), but wouldn’t be worth the $25 per person entry fee by themselves. I’m pleased we went, but probably wouldnt go again.

My friends and I had a great time there last week. We laughed, enjoyed the arts, and a security guard there was telling us the meaning behind some of them. Emmanuel was the person at the front desk that was very helpful too and gave us some good advice afterward. I will be back there soon mostly to come to say hi to eEmmanuel.

Very interesting. There were sexual artifacts from centuries ago. Absolutely amazing. What's more amazing is the documentation to find out what these items were used for. mmmmmmmmm Many beautiful works of art from many parts of the world. Stores of men and women, women and women, men and men, s & m beasts and men or women, it leaves nothing to the imagination. Or maybe adds more to your imagination. The one big disappointment was there was no information on Sarah Baartman (Hottentot Venus), the first known intersex (hermaphrodite) women. Because of that I gave the museum a 4 star rating. I did mention this to the receptionist to pass on to the owner. This was Oct. 2014 so, hopefully, the owner will have information Sarah Baartman the next time I go, probably April, 2015. A must see when you go to South Beach. You can truly spend hours there. There is a small fee to enter.

Being subjected anti-vaccine lies blasted from the security office wasn’t fun at all. Wish I’d known they were anti-science before I paid.

I am honestly surprised that institutions like the Kinsey Institute would put their name on this. There is so much important work in this "museum" that looks more like a forgotten consignment shop. This is what happens when people with a lot of money collect a lot of important pieces highlighting human history and oppression without understanding the responsibility that comes with it.
I wanted to love this place, however I left thinking about how a lot of this art will be lost due to the sheer lack of care. An example: there is a wooden statue from the 1700s that has human hair inset in the brows, eyelashes, scalp, and pelvic area. This sculpture has been placed in a dark corner with no casing/protection, close to the floor making it a perfect spot for folks to pull off patches of hair. Security included one guard who I did not see the majority of the time I was there (2 hours). A lot of the collection was either not labeled or placed carelessly in too low/too high, dim-lit places.

If you expect a serious educational ethnographic museum about erotism and sex in different cultures and ages, this might not be the place. It felt more like someone's private collection without much context or rigueur, but that happened to feature sexual attributes. The doors to staff rooms where wide open and you could see the mess inside which made the place look unprofessional. While it may have some interesting pieces, I feel the term museum is not accurate. Too amateur. Overpriced for what you get.

The entry fee is $15 and my husband and I decided we might as well have a look to say we had done it. There were some very interesting items in the museum and it was fascinating to see how open people have been about sex for several centuries. I probably would never go again, only because its one of those things that you've seen after the first time. But if you have a spare $15 its worth a look.

As a Designer with a strong appreciation for art, this place was way more than I expected it to be. With a generous collection of erotic and sexual fine art and sculpture from around the world, ancient to modern and contemporary, our minds were instantly inspired and expanded with the many ways that gender and sex can be depicted. It is amazing to see what artists were thinking long ago and see how far we have come. It was like a walk around the world, with each room separated into its own culture. If you really appreciate every piece here, you'll need to spend a good 45 minutes to an hour here. Very enjoyable and memorable.

I thought I'd read the admission was reasonable but when we took the elevator up to the 2nd floor the girl at the desk informed me it was $30 a couple---I think they base the price on what they think you will pay as I saw nothing posted with the admission rates. Considering there were 4 people milling around, she should have offered a reduced rate & we would have stayed

I went to WEAM to escape the heat of the beach. Little did I know, it was even steamier inside WEAM. It's difficult to really describe all that the museum encompasses.
I'll just say it was "thorough" from a sexual exploration perspective. There were a lot of sculptures and paintings. Also, there are a ton of erotica books as soon as you get off the elevator to enter the museum. The book alcove is a nice place to sit and relax. Charging my phone gave me the perfect excuse to browse the book collection (wink). What I liked most about WEAM was the diversity in visitors. There were solo visitors like myself, couples, girl groups, guy groups. It literally is a museum for everyone. Museum admission is $20. But for $25, you can gain admission to both WEAM and the George Daniel Museum. Both museums are on the same level. I did both and recommend that you do too.

Is the museum still renovating? I visited Miami around Thanksgiving last year and you were closed. I plan on visiting Miami again this Thanksgiving. I hope I will be able to visit your museum.

Hey, when I went in May it was still under renovations. I’m not sure if they still are, but you can definetly give them a call and inquire!
