Lummus Park is fun for the bike rides, shaded park areas, and entrances to South Beach. We did see many homeless people who were yelling at and harassing passerbys at all hours of the day and evening--not just to ask for money.

If your quest is nightlife and beach you wont find a more convenient location. We thought the nightlife part was expensive in part because of the Art Deco festivities that was being held.

Not that I could see, there is plenty of moped rentals, bikes and some golf cart like trolleys. Stay on Ocean Blvd and you won't have to walk too far.
