Very nice different saunas. I especially liked hottest one. I had the Solianka and Pelmenis (they call them Russian ravioli). Very tasty. The whole interior is a little old and "Russian", but that's what I was looking for. I used to go to Sandunov in...More

Division Street Russian and Turkish Baths (2 Replies)
I was wondering if anybody had been there before? What is like? What does it cost? Any 411 for the novice would be appreciated! I have found a few articles on the Web, but they are out dated. I was suprised that even Jessie Jackson and his son frequent there. I am thinking about taking one of my buddies there before his bachelor party. Used to always see it from the Blue Line on my way into the city. Also, does anybody know any type of classic barbor in the city that will give you a...More

Russian and Turkish Baths/East Village (5 Replies)
Heading to NYC in a couple of weeks and am curious if anyone here has experienced the Baths on E. 10th St. The reviews online seem to be mixed, so I was wondering if someone here would be willing to share their experience so that I could ask questions. TIA!

I've been a few times and really enjoyed it. It can look a little run down and old in some parts, but thats part of the appeal for me. It IS old! The clientele ranges from young East Village hipsters to 80 yr old Russian men and everything in between. On a nice day you can get some food/drink and take it on their deck. Just don't expect a sleek, modern day spa experience.
