About
This is the oldest Russian Orthodox Church in South Florida. With the help of Archbishop Vitaliy, our parish was founded. In 1947 the church services were performed in the large tent in the uninhabited western part of Miami (one block to the north from Flagler Street). Now it is unique place for Miami where you can see piece of Russian culture. You are always welcome!

This is a simple Russian Orthodox Church. The most important thing in a Church is the priest and the priest here is extraordinary.

I visited while traveling on business in Miami. Although I don’t speak Russian and I am from the OCA, I was welcomed by Father Danil to celebrate The Divine Liturgy, make Confession and receive Holy Communion. The Spirit of God is felt here and I was blessed to concelebrate in a distant land in such a beautiful temple before my flight home. Thank you Fathers.

I came to St Vladimirs from St Luke’s in Pompano because my wife was returning from a trip and she wouldn’t arrive till 12:00 so I thought I would be able to give confession and receive communion, as I haven’t missed one from baptism. I arrived a hour early at 9:00 am and as I entered the courtyard I was greeted by a homeless man begging for alms. I gave some money and entered the church, which I noticed is in disrepair with cracked ceiling and unpolished brass, lamp stands were clogged with what appeared to be decades of wax build up so it was hard to get the candles to stand properly when venerating the saints.
I was able to give confession and was great full to be allowed at that point to partake in holy communion. So I stood there in the vestibule just before the nave as people began to pile into the church. I noticed there were several priests and deacons in attendance for service. Most people kept to them self's without any preservice Interaction between parishioners. I noticed they have a children’s choir placed to the right of the alter and behind it they keep the children who arnt in the choir corralled with a makeshift barricade made from a bench where they shout and holler, throw toys, and completely disrupt the “Devine Service” with what seemed to be a lack of supervision or guidance.
Across from the choir is perched one of the priests wife who casts her eye upon the congregation in judgement paying no attention to the urchins behind the makeshift barricade but instead focusing all her attention to the congregation, who’s dressed properly, who’s not wearing a scarf over their hair and even more over who’s not wearing a mask.
As the priest brought out the cup of the body and blood of our Lord and Savior and we were preparing to receive Holy Communion I noticed the Priests wife leave her perch and go in the back out of sight and she returned with a big stack of Chinese made dental hygienists masks and descended into the congregation with a look of scorn in her eye. She blew past me like a cold wind and to the bell tower. I didn’t turn around to watch as I was trying to pay attention to the service.
At this point it was 11:45 and only 15 minutes left till I had to leave to pick up my wife at MIA. And I feel a tap on my left shoulder. It was her with her stack of Chinese masks. I didn’t speak just shook my index finger as to decline her offering as I as a Christian believe that “ yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil” and I believe in the grace of god. And that political virtue signaling in the house of God is wrong. I wouldn’t wear a Trump hat and a let’s go Brandon shirt nor would I wear a mask. I come to Church to escape the Worldly and Honor God.
As I shook my index finger as to decline saying nothing. She quite nastily told me that if I wasn’t going to wear my mask I could leave ….
Iv never in my 45 years have been ejected from church. I stood there looking at the dental hygienist mask in my hand for about 15 seconds thinking about it. Thinking about the decision before me, thinking the choir isn’t masked, the priests arnt masked the kids arnt masked, and how exactly are we to receive Holy Communion through the mask??
My heart sank I hadn’t missed a communion or confession or a service from my baptism and here I am a visiting from another parish and I’m being kicked out for not participating in her mass psychosis. I turned and walked out of the church sad frustrated and shunned.
If you are looking to go to a Russian Orthodox Christian Church, I Recommend you Visit St Luke’s of pompano it’s a 40 minute drive from St Vladimirs but well worth the effort. The Grace of god is there they are welcoming no mater if your masked or not. Your not judged there as you are at St Vladimirs and there is ample parking so you won’t be towed or blocked in.
