Great experience on visiting Virginia Key and kayaking! There was a confusion between the tour and the kayak renting however they were able to resolve it. Was able to see puffer fish and couple of sea creatures at the key.

Kayaking around the Virginia was a super fun excursion, you can stop along the few beaches and just relax or play in the water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Super organized . If you are lucky, you will see manatees !

The staff at VKOC is wonderful and very helpful. They worked quickly to get us on the water. I lost my phone at one point and they helped me recover it. The view is breathtaking. Their private beach has the whitest sand i’ve ever seen and the clearest water I saw in FL. Will definitely be coming back whenever we visit again!

Almost no wind the day that we went so the surrounds were perfect and picturesque. The staff were amazingly friendly and were more than will to accommodate our updated reservations. I will do this again, highly recommended!

The paddle was just amazing. The moon came out just perfect and full. The Miami’s skylines were just beautiful. The guides did a great job telling us the history of the area.

My friends were given a kayak that didn't have the plugs sealed in so it took on water shortly after launch and was essentially waterlogged. Fortunately, there was land a short distance away, and we were able to drop our friends and gear off temporarily. I then followed the friend in the waterlogged kayak back to the boat launch, and we had to swap it out. From a safety perspective, so glad we were still in Lamar Lake when it happened versus the Straits. VKOC did extend our rental period to cover the kayak exchange. My review would have been more favorable had we not received a waterlogged kayak.

I'm sorry your friends had a problem with their kayak. I assure you that unsealed plugs had nothing to do with your friends kayak taking on water. Plugs are never sealed. They are a type of rubber stopper. They serve to drain any water that may enter a hull and also to vent a hull. That is important in hot climates as air expands and contracts inside the hull as temps change. This can distort the shape of the hull. Also, plugs are high above the waterline. The only way plug holes (not plugs) can let water in is if the plug opening is below the water. The hull of your friend's kayak must have suffered a small crack or puncture. It was a busy weekend. A prior renter may have scapped or punctured the hull. Unfortunately, people will sometimes stand on plastic kayaks to avoid walking on rocks. The plastic is thick but it can still be damaged. That would account for water in your hull. However, sthey were not sinking. You weren't out long. We did give them a different kayak and reset your time. I'm confused as to why you felt the need to issue a dire warning when your group was treated well. I'm sorry you decided to characterize us in such a manner. Although it does not happen often, in fact almost never, kayaks can sustain damage. You were never in danger, we are not in the Florida straits nor would you have paddled offshore on a recreational kayak. I hope you enjoyed your 2-hour rental. There was a lotbof wildlife that holiday weekend.
If you are dissatisfied that's your perogative. However, kindly refrain from alleging a hazard exists when it does not. Your characterization is unjust and incorrect.

Hello can I take my little son with me? He is one year old. We hope so...
Hey, I’m planning on going this weekend with my wife. Just wanted to know if we are able to bring snacks and water bottles and such. If we can, what options do we have? Should I call in ahead or reserve through the website prior to going? Thank you kindly - ya boy cris

You can take all sorts of things with you. Depends on how long you'll be out and what equipment you take. We recommend drinks as it has been very very hot. Several drinks actually. We also have a s ack shop in premises. Nothing fancy but the drinks are cold and we have bars, chips, nuts and the like. Good that helps.

Hi, do sharks frequent this area?
Esther A

Hi Rebecca,
There are sharks in the ocean but we have not had any incidents. Anyone who tells you there are no sharks in their area is lying. They live all around us an avoid humans more than we avoid sharks. Please understand that there are fewer than 5 shark related deaths a year in US. More people are killed by falling coconuts. : ) It is a scary thought but we are okay in the water. I swim, fish, paddle, etc myself all the time. No trouble at all. Hope this helps and didn't scare you away from the beach for life.
Cheers,
Esther

Hello, The best way to arrive is by taxi, Uber or Lyft. There are bus routes but sadly Miami service is not the best connected.
We have had some manatees in the area but this is not the season for them That starts in November through April.
It is beautiful with great beaches and lovely wildlife. We suggest mornings or afternoon for best viewing opportunities. The animals, just like humans, hide during the heat of the day : )

Salut. Ce n’est pas la saison de lamantin, mais ils ont été dans la région. Meilleur moment possible est le matin et à la basse marée.
