About
Pérez Art Museum Miami is a modern and contemporary art museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Established in 1984, the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) evolved from the Miami Art Museum, which grew out of the Center for the Fine Arts (CFA). The CFA opened to the public in 1984 as a partnership between Metropolitan Dade County Government and the Center for the Fine Arts Association Inc., a private 501(c) (3) corporation. In 1994, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the CFA's leadership determined to transform this County department from a space solely for temporary exhibitions into a private institution with a permanent collection dedicated to international art of the 20th and 21st centuries that reflected Greater Miami's diverse community and pivotal geographic location at the crossroads of the Americas.

- Susi070Miami, Florida116 contributionsUnforgettable tour with Thomas WheelerGreat experience with our guide Thomas Wheeler! We were lucky enough to have him only for my friend and I. He is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job that is a privilege to count with him yesterday. We saw some pieces of art of the permanent collection that were so enlightened to us that enjoy art but we are not experts by any mean. He was so patient and answered many of ours questions knowledgeably. He knew a lot of the background, technics, history etc of each painting or sculpture we saw. We were so lucky to have him and enjoyed every single minute of our tour together. Congratulations to PAMM for counting in their staff such a great professional.Thank you Tom for an unforgettable experience!Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 19, 2024

This past trip was on the 2nd Saturday of the month free family day, and now I know that they have activities for kids I’ll bring my nephews to Miami for some art fun. The location is gorgeous by the waterfront.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 30, 2024
- Molly B3 contributionsPerez Art Museum of MiamiThis museum is well worth the trip! My husband and I spent 2-3 hours here easily. The exhibits were relevant for the history of Miami up to the present day. The outside is also quite something to see as it sits along the waterfront. Don't pass it up! Great thing to do as an alternative to going to the beach if you want to get out of the sun, heat and humidity for a couple of hours!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 17, 2024
- MillDawn89Flower Mound, Texas91 contributionsNice AfternoonSpent the afternoon here while in Miami for three nights. It was a very nice modern art museum with lots of different exhibits from the region. The costs to enter was reasonable. We were able to take the Metromover here from our downtown hotel. The park around the museum was beautiful. The staff were very helpful. You do have to download a map and audioguide (free) if you want either.Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 9, 2025
- Daniela Y8 contributionsAmazing and diverse art collectionThis is a must, just walking around the park surrounding the museum is beautiful, it has many art displays like the cats and dogs statues. The art collection displays a very unique diverse selection that I haven't seen in any other places in the US. Southamerican, afroamerican, xicanx, asian and cuban artists showcasing the immigrant experience from different perspectives, amongst other subjects. TIP: its free the 2nd Saturdays!Visited February 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten February 9, 2025

Fantastic museum! It is the perfect union between art and architecture. Around the museum there are contemporary art installations that connect man to art. We also recommend viewing Yayoi Kusama's installation! It was a fantastic experience!

PAMM to me, has alway sbeen about the quality of whatever special exhibit is on view as the permenant collection to me feels a little thin, notwithstanding the captions written by wanna be literary art critics reaching for meaning when often then isn't much. At the moment, both Liminal Spaces and Mariano are well wroth seeing. Liminal in particular is a whimsical and fun display of interactive installations that in itself is worth the price of admission. If you leave without smiling, you have no sense of wonderment.

This was the best art museum I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to several. It’s pretty inexpensive considering it’s a museum. You do have to check your large bags upon entering which I’m not really a fan of. There’s plenty of museum security around to intervene should anything happen. A lot of the exhibits available when I went were multi dimensional or interactive. Not just paintings on a wall or even just sculptures. A lot of the artists used lights, technology, etc so it made me rethink art. Some used optical illusions. The gift shop is a little overpriced like most attractions. I was able to get some $1 postcards but $4-5 for a sticker is a bit much. I do wish they had a little better signage or flow. So you could know which exhibits you’d already seen. But again it was the best art museum I’ve been to.

Let me start by saying that this museum was new the first day it open almost 10 years ago. Since then it is obvious that the budget for upkeep of the structure is non existent. I have visited museums all over the world. I visited PAMM when it opened and then more recently this week. I cannot believe how raggedy, unkept and destroyed it looks. The plants in the outside seem depleted of energy. The main door to the entrance could use refurbishing, sanding then resurfacing with wood stain. You enter the building and it is dim , old , smells like a musty old building. The bathrooms look disgusting, dirty, doors which at one point might have been painted off white are weathered with dirtiness of hands touching them for a decade. Toilets half working, floors sticky, locks and hanging knobs inside the toilet almost broken falling off the wall. Every one that works there is in a bad mood. The security guards look at people with what appears to be an angry stance. There is not one smile to be found in the face of any of the employees. That is indicative of the working conditions in the place which seem to be dismal. And now to the collection. I use to visit the original collection known as MAM before it was renamed and relocated to this new location. I can tell you that the collection is not worth attending. It looks worse than any collection I have seen in a third world country where there are minimal means to maintain spaces or with a budget to sustain quality artworks. This is a museum that was built by Miami taxpayers. It is not representative of the community. It has declined in quality of works, in quality of space , in upkeep and of representation. Do not bother to attend , not even the outdoor garden is being maintained. I hope it is soon rescued from whatever system is contributing to its demise. There are many spaces to attend in south Florida from the Bass in MB to the Norton up in palm beach. Also private collections like ICA, DLC, Rubell and the Lowe at UM. Don’t bother is not worth the visit. Pérez you can do better.

Very small museum. I'm not a fan of contemporary art but my son loves museums so we made the trek to check it out. All we heard was "too close!", "don't touch!" and had all eyes on us whenever we entered a room- so incredibly rude and annoying. Again, the "art" was just okay. Some of it was inappropriate for my son and others I just didn't get. The highlight was definitely the Calida Rawles exhibit. It was amazing. The restaurant and outside views were good, too.
The Frost science museum next door was spectacular. That is worth the visit.

Miami should have a world class Art Museum, but this is far from even being in the top ten in Florida. Currently has one great exhibit, LIMINAL by Leonardo Ehrlich. The Joan Didion exhibit from the Hammer has random pieces of art of not great quality. Only a few pieces from the Permanent Collection - and only two, the Frank Stella and the unusual Louise Nevillson are of interest. Much space wasted by a huge staircase and shops. Traffic flow is poor. You will do better visiting: ICA, the Ruebell Collection, ICA, MOCA, the Bass, the Wolfsonian or two university museums - the Lowe at Miami and the Frost at FIU. And certainly the Norton in West Palm Beach, the Boca Museum of Art or Ft. Lauderdale are worth the trip. And you won't have to pay the outrageous $18 parking.

PAMM was on my bucket list for Miami and it was good timing with the Warhol/ Marisol exhibit. I thought the permanent collection was lacking and thought there would have been more to the sculpture garden. At the end of my visit I stopped by the Verde restaurant for lunch. I didn’t see a hostess so I found a small table and seated myself. A staff member came over and told me they were not taking walk ins because they were expecting a large party. I left and on my way out saw her seat others. Maybe there was a reason for that, perhaps they had reservations, but I was still disappointed because it was lunch time and I was pretty hungry, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. I thought they could accommodated me since I was only one person. Museum dining really should be more accessible for museum visitors. I’ve been to many museums over the years and being turned away for dining was a first. People come from all over, spend time on their feet visiting collections and can’t even stop to relax and eat; it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t know that I’ll return or recommend the museum.

LOVED our visit to this museum. A light filled, beautifully sited (right on the water) place. Reasonable admission costs for a museum (though we were just two "seniors.")
Solid permanent collection and the special exhibition, Liminal Spaces, was engaging for all ages.
Note: parking is $15 in the adjacent lot.

First of all it's not a museum.Waste of money and time. This is not real art, it's with no class, not real talent and no effort. Most of this "art" is dedicated to white guilt,it seems more like a propaganda than art. I don't recommend at all. Go to Europe to experience real art and history.

5 star scenery.. 2 star display.
Ok I’m going to sound very *art critic* here BUT … in my opinion, the most impressive aspect of this museum was the building’s exterior. My husband and I spent an afternoon strolling through downtown Miami and were excited to experience the Perez display. Parking and entry is a breeze and ticketing is as to be expected. The museum walkthrough is seemingly large with a winding second level to the exhibit. The first portion of contemporary art was vibrant and well-organized in each space. As we progressed however, I wasn’t so much satisfied with the displays.
Art appreciation is largely opinion-based, yet i think the majority of museum-goers are more impressed with works requiring a unique creative vision, keen workmanship, or a brand new technique. As an artist myself, i can appreciate art of all kinds….. but truly….. there not much talent to see here.
The museum’s exterior, on the other hand, is a sight to see. This is a beautiful location with surrounding view of both downtown Miami and the Miami harbor. If nothing else, come for the view.

What time is the final entry on a Saturday. I think I saw that it closes at 6pm?
Written August 23, 2018
It closes at 6. They don't say a final entry anywhere. We saw some students come and go within a 20-30 minute period. We were there an hour. If you read every single sign or posting you could easily be there for 2 hours. There are also lots of neat sculptures on the grounds near the museum and parking garage.

Can you buy tickets online or do you buy it there?

I would also concur with others who recommend a taxi.
Once you are there, I would ask at the desk what they would
suggest for getting back. If you spending more time
downtown after the museum, there is a circulator bus.
Enjoy!
