Took this tour during our one day free in Miami after our trip to South America. We hop on and off several times to visit different locations, but overall, the tour guides were not helpful and did not speak clearly. One of the tour guide seems to be drunk/ high on some sort of something and he was constantly leaning over the other passengers. We were disappointed with the tour. This company needs to higher more professional staff and do a better job in training them.

We use hop on/off as a matter of routine when visiting a new city and usually find it a great experience. In this case we were disappointed with the bus tour as the buses are very old with extremely steep steps. The buses had live commentators and a recorded channel. The live commentators were giving limited information around the route merely pointing out and naming buildings/hotels. We could read these ourselves and wanted more history of the areas we passed through. The recorded channel,was often out of sync with the bus route or progress. The reason for the three stars is the boat trip which was terrific being interesting, scenic and with a great commentary which was informative and amusing. The bus trip alone would have been two star at the very best.

I had read some contradictory comments on here but we found the service very good by and large. We bought the 3 day pass which included the boat tour and the night tour. We had buses that had both the recorded commentary and the live commentary. The recorded one was good for basic information and facts but the live commentaries were much more entertaining, Josh and Jay were particularly good. Thy would benefit from an updated microphone system as at times they were difficult to hear. The boat tour around the bay was excellent, some of the houses we saw were unbelievable. The night tour was also good, sit on the top deck on the left hand side for the best views along Ocean Drive.

With limited time in Miami we decided to do the hop on hop off bus to see the highlights and best parts of the city. We found the guides knowledgeable however they were often too hard to understand with a very crackly microphone system. Buses are supposed to come every 20 mins but we often found ourselves waiting up to an hour for a bus. For a family of four it was very expensive for what they offer.

I've used BBT HoHo in several cities and it became a must do on any trip that I made to a new city with the service. It was convenient and cost effective. The routes allowed opportunities to venture out and explore so it was something I was looking for.
My experience in Miami (Jan2020) however was somewhat on the negative side as from the start I waited close to 50 mins for the bus to arrive at one of the stops which was my fist stop. When I boarded they did not scan the ticket till the next stop. Upon arriving at the next stop it was evident that the buss was full and people were standing. Following along with the brochure I soon realized that we had already reached a landmark that I wasn't supposed to see till after 2 stops. This only to realize that the buses do NOT stop at all of the designated areas. Something that also happened was when the bus stopped to let people board, the driver drives out without letting persons find a seat and sit safely. So its unsafe while walking up the staircase and walking on the top while the bus is moving and at a fast speed. The customer service from the onbus personnel who was scanning the tickets was rude as when I asked why is the driver not stopping she relied that he knows what he is doing and when I said but I wanted to hopoff at that spot she said I should have shouted it out before. Like what?! seriously? It says HopOn/HopOff why do I need to shout and why are they driving so hard/fast and not stopping at points on the map?

I have taken tours with this company in many countries around the world. I was disappointed with this one in Miami however.
After we boarded the bus after just being off at one stop, we were told we would have to change buses to head straight back to miami beach at the next stop or else if we wanted to stay and explore downtown miami - find our own way back to our stop. We paid about $100 for two tickets and had to pay for a cab home so it would have been cheaper to get an uber for sightseeing!

This is one of those reviews that review a tour that never even got started. At the Miami port, on December 30 at 8:30 AM, the Big Bus representative was extremely rude and dismissive. We inquired a about a bus tour and airport dropoff. He asked our time and when we replied 2:45 PM, he waved his hand “impossible, no way, can’t do it…” as he turned away from us.
Would it have been impossible to be at least kind of nice about it. It was very dismissive and rude. So, we took a cab (BTW, Uber or Lyft - very expensive to take a cab off the port) and grabbed a bus tour from another company, had lunch and then got a Lyft to the airport and we were still 2.5 hours early for our flight.
When we have a choice to select using Big Bus in the future, we’ll choose another company.

We purchased tickets for the Miami tour. The customer service was horrible. They kept pulling us off one bus and putting us on another. We were told bus services ran until 6pm, but they only ran until 5pm. There solution was for us to pay extraneous for us to take the city bus or uber/lyft..left... why should we pay more money after paying over $200 on something they couldn't deliver.

All the buses we went on were dirty - sometimes even the staff apologised for the state of the bus.
Wait times were meant to be 20 to 30 minutes. On a couple of occasions we had to wait well over the advertised times, the longest time about being 50 minutes.
On the positive side they did cover a good portion of Miami and Miami Beach.
My suggestion is to check out the competition before booking anything.

Made a booking for a hoilday I was supposed to go on, tested positive for covid before my flight so all my plans had to be cancelled. Big bus tours will not refund !! I would advise everyone to not book in advance, with everything so volatile at the moment its very risky. Buy tickets on the day, or via a agent or with a company that understands the current situation and actually dose allow cancellations.

It depends on the route 1-2 hours. I would stay open to getting on and off, if possible. The guides are all different. Each has their own knowledge of the area. They have certain things they have to promote but then they fill in as necessary as they go. So, if one guide doesn't seem to be engaging or entertaining,get off and get on the next bus. Guides DAUNTE and ROBERT are great, so if you can get on one of their buses DO.
