Also known as Totchs Island Boat Tour. $35.00 for one hour airboat tour through the swamp. Look for coupon in Tourist Map. Fastest hour you will have and VERY exciting. Saw manatees, alligators, and raccoons. Great guide, enticed a 9 foot alligator along side our boat and he lifted his head out of the water. I held a 4 ft alligator back at the dock for a picture. Highlight of our vacation. Make sure you take a camera.

They offer 3 trips. The cost is not pro rata. ie The longer the trip the better the value for money.

30 minutes: If all you want is a ride in an airboat, this is the option for you.
1 hour: Includes the above + you go deeper into the mangrove swamps/creeks where there's a very good chance of seeing alligators.
1 hr 30 mins: includes all the above + a trip out over open water to Totch's Island - a small, privately-owned island. Nothing special to see, but fun all the same.

We paid for the longest trip but discovered (an hour later)) that we'd somehow got on the wrong boat - the 1 hr trip. They could easily have argued (with some justification) that the mistake was ours - but they didn't. They immediately offered us the choice of a refund or going out again on the long trip about to depart. We willingly accepted the latter.

We saw good sized alligators on both trips. (See photos.)

Yes, we saw the racoon trick some reviewers have mentioned. They have clearly been tamed and come running when the airboat stops, but it was fun to see all the same. Our guide did NOT feed them marshmallows and told us not to feed anything to them. He just gave them water from a bottle. (See pics.)

Tenessee says "You walk into a dump of a building with a cheesy gift shop."
The 'office' is rather basic, but so what? You're only in it long enough to buy tickets, and you don't have to buy anything in the cheesy gift shop. (We didn't.)
"The local yokle owners are a joke." That's rather patronising. I doubt if they'd deny being local yokels - they are - but chatting with one of them added to our enjoyment. He willingly answered our questions - with a few interesting (and sometimes probably exaggerated) stories thrown in.

A new experience for us, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, and well worth the very reasonable cost.

Recommended.

I was interested in a private airboat tour with my wife but couldn't really find one but this turned out to be one we went early and no one was there so we got a boat to our selve we has Potter for our guide very good. They have a 1 1/2 hour tour for $52. a person but if you use there cupon in all the magazines its about $100. for 2. They first take you too a private island that they own and it was fun the ride out there was really fun the water was like glass. While your there you get the history of the everglades which I found interesting. The we went into the back country which was awsome when he opens it up going through the back country it was great. One thng to remember this is a airboad ride so the chance of seen gators is low but lots of other wild life. Potter told us about some other areas to see gators and we saw all we wanted in the wild. We also saw 5 Manatees so listen what he says about where to go after its all free maybe a 15 min ride.. When you read all the reviews no one talks about tipping yes its expected. $10.- 20.00 is just fine. I would recommend this.

I did not know who to go with so I went with the best discount coupon. Big mistake. I wanted to spend time speeding around in the everglades. They sold me 1 1/2 hour tickets and did not mention that I was going to an Island. The Island was a dump in the middle of the river and we wasted a hour getting there and coming back. (Most of the way is a snails pace down a river because of the wake restrictions.) We spent about 15-20 minutes buzzing around in the Mangroves and went back to the dock. I spent $100 and feel totally ripped off. Was no fun except for 5 minutes the guide opened it up a little on the way back. The only really nice thing was getting to hold a juvenile alligator back at the dock.
I complained at the end to the lady who sold me the tickets that she did not tell me the 1 1/2 hour tour was to the island, and that I did not want to go to an island. She was short with me and said that I agreed to pay for the tickets. Of all three employees in the office no one offered to make any apology or do anything to resolve it.

Did NOT enjoy the airboat ride with this company at all. Our tour guide (think his name was Jerry) said about 5 words the entire ride...ride was supposed to be an hour but he stopped about 10 minutes short, and on top of that the ride itself included lots of him just speeding up and doing circles in open water. We didn't see a single alligator and when we asked him about it he rudely said, "Oh no you won't see alligators on this ride"... instead he drove us over to this tree and pointed out a family of raccoons - lame! I would never spend the money to do this again. On the other hand, a year prior we checked out Wooten's Airboat rides a few miles further down the street and that was much better - would definitely recommend that one over this rip-off.

My daughter and I spend days researching Airboat tour companies, and finally decided on Island Airboat Tours, primarily based on the rave reviews from TripAdvisor members. I convinced my husband to take the 1 hour, 45 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale to Everglades City (even though there were other highly rated tour companies closer). We had a 2pm tour booked, but arrived early, and were told there was no way they could accomodate us on a earlier tour. We accepted that they were busy, but then were surprised to see them taking walk-ins for the 1:30 boat tour. My husband asked again, and was rudely told that "as she already said", they would not be able to put us on an earlier boat. 5 minutes later, we were told they could fit us in at 1:30. We chose the 90 minute tour, that included Totche's Island. There was no dock for the boat, and getting out was hard, and my shoe got soaked in the water. The island was uninteresting, and our tour guide Wes, didn't give us one fact about the Everglades. He did tell us about a few birds. We only saw one alligator, and had the ask Wes to take the boat closer to get a photo. He was very interested to show us a family of raccoons!!!! Let me tell you that I didn't come to Florida to see racoons. I could have hung around a dumpster in Oakville to see raccoons!!! Out boat broke down, and we sat in the water for at least 10 minutes before Wes was able to get it started again. We weren't offered an apology or any compensation for the missed tour time. I was expecting an eco tour, filled with facts about the region...this tour company totally missed the mark.. The highlight for my daughter was holding the baby alligator before getting on the boat. Don't bother with this tour...it was a waste of $166 for 3 people.

It was poor. Sure, an airboat ride is fun, but if your captain is so uninterested in making it a real experience... We were on the boat with a family of 4. We were sitting closest to the captain (Brown) and could hardly hear what he had to say (if he had something to say) as he was mumbling, making a token effort to entertain and explain.

Other boats (different companies) brought food and spent time with i.e. the racoons, we almost raced past them whilst it was obvious that the whole group would like to spend a bit more time watching them. At the (only) one gator we saw, he pulled up to it in an aweful viewing position and was more concerned with chatting to another captain than keeping the boat somewhat straight. Both the family and we were really dissapointed by this, and the mum of the family explicitly asked if we could move into a better viewing positio but he didn't seem to care. Just lame.

Note that this area has little alligator activity in winter due to the salinity of the water.

Overall a poor experience. Check where in the park the gators are when you visit and I'd avoid this company based on our experience.

Understand Nature is nature. Not much to see as far as wildlife. One Pelican, one Osprey and one raccoon. Pelican and Osprey showed up because they are accustomed to being fed, staged if you get my drift. Too crowded, too many airboat tours in one small area. I was hoping to experience The Everglades but felt more like it was just one more Florida tourist trap. I admit I might be impartial after a great experience on an Bayou airboat tour in LA, only airboat and much more wildlife and more personable guide. But as far as Everglade City airboat tours, it was probably very good in comparison to competitors.

We had a great experience with Totchs Island Air Boat Tours. Darrell our guide was fantastic. Very informative and knowledgable about the Everglade surroundings and it's wildlife. This high speed ride not only included the boat trip around the many mangroves, but a stop off at it's own private island. We were fortunate to see not only alligators and raccoons, but rare bird species too. Holding the baby alligator at the end of the tour was also a higlight too. The staff were amazing and the tour fantastic. We would definitely recommend this company over the rest.

My family of five went on the 1.5 hour 'Backwater and Totch's Island' tour. Highlights of our tour were watching a pelican hitching a ride on the boat and seeing three gators. We also enjoyed the speed of the airboat.
I didn't find the guide real informative. The guide told us what island he grew up on, and his relationship to the family. When I asked a question, the guide told me in an annoyed tone of voice that he had already told us that information. As soon as the guide was given the tip, he became very impatient with us and couldn't get away from us fast enough.

The island stop is really only a time waster. The picture of Totch's island that they show on their website bears no resemblance to what it looks like now. There is a plywood shack on a small island that is overgrown with brush. They have you get off the boat and tell you to explore. There is NOTHING to see.

There are a lot of airboat rides in the town. I would recommend trying a different one.
