What a beautiful beach, not crowded at all. Was able to catch the sunset from there one day. The water was warm even at 8pm at night. There’s paid street parking or free lot parking depending on how far down the beach you are. It was clean too with water stations nearby

Stopped here for a photo with the Melbourne Beach sign then wandered onto the pier. Great views up, down and across the Indian River. We then started fish watching and spotted a ray swimming beside the pier. Made our day. The history surrounding the pier is explained at the start. Worth a visit.

The pier is a great place to take a stroll. It offers a beautiful scene with views of the water and sunset. Magical things happen here. Oh and there are quite a few people that fish off this pier.

Right beside Ryckman park, a large pier extending out into the intracoastal. Can fish off the end, lovely at night and restaurants and pubs right there

We are locals and this is the best place to take your young kids and a fishing pole. I can’t remember ever NOT catching something!! All sorts of Indian River critters will appear on your line. You may also see a manatee or dolphin passing by. Great sunset shots over the water for the novice photographer. Ryckman Park located just to the right of the pier.

After dining at Djohns steak house, nothing like a walk on this very lengthy public pier out into the intracoastal. Very Kool

We were in town for an overnight en route to Miami for a cruise. We had some sightseeing time before the second leg of our trip.
I had researched some local museums and historical homes when my husband suggested the beach, also a historic site. It was one of those rainy on again off again days in south Florida.
Before the next downpour, we managed to walk to the end of the pier and learned that the railroad at one time had track that ran on the pier down Ocean Ave. to the beach to offload supplies. A replica of the track is preserved. The water is now brackish but according to a former citizen we met on the pier, the water was as clear as an aquarium. He and his dad spent two hours on a Saturday morning at the pier and netted more fish than they could eat in a week.
We saw one couple fishing; they weren’t as lucky but fed the egret hovering nearby.
Free parking is available in front of the Ryckman House near the pier. Restrooms are available there.
