Today, Sunday 7/24/16, we visited the wetlands. It was the least active visit ever, for us. There were few birds and we did see a several alligators. As hot as it is I think the birds were smart to lay low on a shady branch. Normally when we go it is not as hot and the birds are everywhere.

I didn't expect to see much late morning with temps in the 90s, but I enjoyed seeing many different species of birds! The birds looked happy to be in such a beautiful place as well. Great paths - I drove, but there were lots of places to get out of the car & get even closer to the wildlife. Osprey,... More

Location was a little tricky to find but a local helped us out. This wetland is different as you can drive your car all over it on the very nice paths. So if you are limited on your mobility or sensitive to heat this is the place for you. It is basically retention ponds of all sizes with lots of... More

We took our 4 kids 8-13 and they enjoyed trying to find things that others might not have found. We didn't see alligators like others have posted, but it was midday in the middle of July, if I were a gator I'd be hiding under water or under a tree...we saw plenty of different birds, and BALD EAGLES! First time... More

We bicycle here very frequently. It's pristine and filled with native Floridian wildlife including incredible birds, ducks, cranes, egrets, herons, etc. And, yes, gators -- lots and lots of gators. Some of the alligators are the 'big boys' -- 12 feet and larger. They won't bother you if you don't bother them, but NEVER feed them. A good place to... More

These are man-made ponds surrounding a lake (you can't tell the difference). If you go there at the right time; early morning or early evenings, you never know what you'll see. Alligators; probably, eagles; maybe, and even a Caracara pair. There are so many species of birds, otters, and maybe even some cows (I also saw some cowboys). Bring your... More

I wish we would not have forgot our camera on our trip to Florida. The wildlife here is amazing to view and capture in photos. We saw alligators and many types of birds while there, but there are much more there, just depends on the day I guess. We drove from Orlando, and it only took about 30 mins. Our... More

I love to take photos and was disappointed a didn't have a long lens with me but still managed to capture a couple of herons that were close to the road. With the heat and humidity in June, I was very grateful for the ability to drive through the area-that was also a feature much appreciated by my parents who... More

I prefer drive thru instead of walking or bike. It does have a wide variety of birds. We could also see 3 alligators. It's beautiful. But contrary of some reviews I must say that it does have a large donation box at the entrance for those who voluntarily wants to donate (which is common in most of free and/or natural... More
