So glad we stopped!
Dec 2019 • Couples
We didn't have any plans for Thursday and found out about the sea turtle preservation society via TripAdvisor. We decided to stop and we are so pleased that we did. The clerk, Donna, was very enthusiastic about what the society does. She was so kind, and helpful. She told us about a turtle release that was happening that afternoon further south of Melbourne. She took the time to give us directions and show us exactly how to get to that beach section and park. We were able to find the spot and participate in the release of two turtles. It made our day. My husband and I could not have been happier. They also have great T-shirts and other gifts that of course pertain to turtles. They also provide an educational experience about turtles. It is well worth a stop.

Lovely Little Stop
Jul 2019
Lovely and informative. These people know what their talking about and were willing to discuss sea life, turtles and share mermaid folklore. Talked to Kim and she was warm and passionate. Not necessarily a place to spend more than an hour because it's small. But the gift shop with local art and jewelry was worth another hour. :)

Nice people

Not sure if it’s a 501(c)3 or not and what kind of subsidizing it gets but they are friendly in this prime real estate next to the corporatized surf style and burger.

They have a green sea turtle shell and loggerhead shell on display

A Great Educational Stop For Kids of All Ages

I like to take my grand children and their friends to this site AND then to the Barrier Island Museum (about a 30 minute drive further south). The Barrier Island facility is much larger and has many more interactive displays and exhibits than this one BUT, this location has some great information not found in the other. My recommendation is that you visit both of them on the same day.

Volunteer driven. These angels protect the turtles and enforce the lights out laws to safely guide the baby turtles to the ocean.

Store has great items for sale and learning room for kids and kid-at-heart adults. Go learn about the turtles.

I bought a $5 Turtle shirt from last years 5k. It’s awesomely turtle-riffic.

What lead me here was famous novel ‘Beach House’ turned Hallmark movie starring Andie MacDowell who as she approaches death & disease devotes her life to saving turtles mending with her daughter. Great story encourages me to help the little green guys.

Nature calling

We stopped at the Sea Turtle Preserve because I had ridden by it numerous times and wanted to see what it was all about. Great presentations about sea turtles. Very relaxing atmosphere. Looking and learning at our own pace. The only draw back was the shop wasn't open and my friend wanted to buy souveniers.
