Really I feel it is a 4.5 stars because the only thing that we didn’t enjoy was the overflowing trash cans and scattered trash.
Otherwise, what an awesome place!! We were there on a very hot day in June. My 10yo twin sons swam and snorkeled. We rented a kayak for an hour and really enjoyed the views and peace beyond the swimming area. The workers were polite. I can’t explain how beautiful and crystal clear the water is. Be prepared the water is very cold but it feels refreshing on a hot day. We went on a Monday and the crowd wasn’t bad at all.
This place only accepts cash-$4 per person for entry and $10 per hour for kayak rentals.

We visit the Destin area several times a year with our kids. This year we opted for one day of something different. We made a quick 1.5 hour drive to Florida Caverns State Park and started our day with a tour of the Caverns and a short hike. We then made the 15 minute drive to Blue Springs Recreational Park for the afternoon. We all enjoyed the picnic area, cool water, and boat rentals. The kids (and their friends) enjoyed it so much that they have already requested a return visit next trip. We will be returning. One tip: Make sure to pack bug spray along with sunscreen.

If you enjoy swimming, you must try Blue Springs Recreational Park! It's only a few miles from the Florida Caverns State Park and swimming is available at the headspring, Jackson Blue Spring. The water is crystal clear, there is a lifeguard, playground, small sandy beach, diving board, slide, several pavilions, restrooms, showers, and a place to purchase food items. Best of all, the admission is only $2. This spring, along with several others, make up Merritt's Mill Pond--a several mile long crystal clear shallow river dotted with Cypress trees. Truly gorgeous! At the park, one can also rent canoes and paddle boats by the hour for exploring the pond. Don't be concerned about the dark areas in the water in the center of the picture of the spring, that's just an aquatic grass where many small fish make their home.

Water was seriously Too cold even in August
. It's not blue. Only the spot above the actual cave is blue and you can't get to it as the diving board is directly over it. Which is steady busy with teens hanging out at the board. If you are local it's probably a great spot for little ones to play, but wasn't worth the 3 plus hour drive. The whole thing is run by teens. I couldn't rent a kayake as they couldn't decide which ones were good and which ones were not rentable due to damage. The three yr old did have fun though. Tried to add more photos but was told they were all too large.

Sign seemed to say they were supposed to be open but the gate indicated otherwise. Paddled in from the water side (of course) but no activity. I know the website says they are opening Memorial Day, but that doesn't give anyone driving by a chance. Oh well. Having said this it is a great spot, I just wonder why they don't open the rest of the year. I suspect it's a funding thing. Too bad.

Blue Springs is very family oriented park. Reasonably priced at $2.00 per person. There is a lot of things to do they have a slide, a diving board, and paddle boat rentals. They have a fishing area with a beautiful scenery, lots of cypress trees and wildlife. There are very clean picnic areas with grills. My family and I usually bring our own coolers and have picnics while enjoying the park. The park does have a snack bar with cold drinks, snacks, short order foods, and snow cones. The park has lifeguards to ensure the safety of the visitors. We have enjoyed the park with family and friends numerous times and have enjoyed ourselves every time we've visited. Although keep in mind it is a cave fed spring and that means the water is clear and very cold.

A county park that is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day but well enjoyed on a hot summer day. It is spring fed with caves that divers from all over the world come to explore. Large guarded swimming, paddle boat and canoe rentals with a snack bar. Great for a picnic lunch and and a refreshing swim in crystal clear 70 degree water.

My Family, Friends and I have been going to beautiful Blue Springs since I was 10 and it still never ceases to amaze with all it's beauty! It has changed some(for the better I might add). It now has a very nice clean play ground for the kids, great concession, good food, cold drinks, (already had those though!) Has beautiful blue spots to snorkel and you can even see the caves! Has really nice large dock, nice manmade sandy white beach! You can launch your own kayaks or canoes from inside the park as long as you pay the regular fee to enter which is 4.00 per person. They also rent their own paddle boats, canoes, kayaks. Be back in time to load out with your own before closing time so the staff can get everything done at the rental dock and park. They have an amazing friendly staff and wonderful attentive lifeguards every year! Yes, I am very proud of our park, and I live in Alabama, not very far across the line so we can go often and it doesn't cost us a lot of fuel. We have our own yaks and canoes. But sometimes when I go alone,(at my age, I just rent theirs so I don't have to load as and unload). Florida has some beautiful parks but to me, this is the very "BESTEST" one! Like I said, been going there since I was 10, I have 2 Great Grands now, soon to be 3 years old, and Lord willing we will continue to go, they love it too!! I could go on and on, there are not enough words to really explain it's beauty, you will just have to see for yourselves!!

Blue Springs is open now until Labor Day.
It is a must see spring when visiting N. Florida. The water is crystal clear and there is plenty to do there.
Enjoy canoeing, floating on an inflatable, or just wading in. There is tables and grills available on first come first nab. Bring your chair and cooler. No alcoholic beverages allowed.
