It was a very interesting, personalised, and private trip. The boat was very comfortable. Captain Alex was very patient and knowledgeable about marine life and even talked about pointers of the island. We seen several dolphins feeding and jumping, a manatee, collected lots of shells, visited the domes, and swam twice on the islands. He was professional to work with and had all the safety gear. We had 3 kids, my husband and I and my mom with us and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend!!!!!

Captain Alex knows the 10,000 island area of Marco Island and the Everglades extremely well. We were able to spot turtles, manatees, all kinds of birds and had a great time stopping at a barrier island for some snorkeling and shelling. We have used Captain Alex before this and we will continue to go back to Captain Alex when we come to visit in the future.

We did the Marine Life Tour with Captain Alex, and it was amazing. We had so much fun watching manatees and seeing dolphins, sea turtles, ocean birds and a stingray. We also collected shells on a remote island. Alex was wonderful and knew everything about the shells and how to find crabs for my daughter. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. Five stars!

Our third trip with Captain Alex, his Marine Life Tour. We saw the Florida “Big Three:” Dolphins, Manatees, and Sea Turtles! Captain Alex always blends nature education, relaxation, and fun in a private trip environment. We’ll be back for #4!

Our family booked the 10,000 Island Eco-Tour + Tidal Pool Combo adventure with Captain Alex. We met Capt Alex at the Caxambas Park bright and early 0800 to start the tour.
Capt. Alex was very flexible and tailored the tour to what we interested in seeing as a family. There is no set itinerary for these tours. He asks us what kinds of wildlife we're interested in seeing and off we go!
We first saw a few manatees, what a sight! Next we saw 2 bottlenose dolphins that swam and played with the boat's wake for a long time, so there were plenty of photo ops. We next were able to see large sea turtles.
The next phase of the excursion involved going to an uninhabited small island at low tide and combing the tidal pools for all types of aquatic wildlife, critters, and crawling things. The "Crab Army" was so cool!! This phase did involve a lot of walking. Also this part is for beachcomber types; if beachcombing isn't your idea of a good time, then I would recommend a different activity to add to your package.
The entire trip lasted approx 4 hours, so back in time for lunch and to enjoy the resort and beach.
Capt. Alex was a very knowledgeable, informative nature guide and was able to answer any question we threw at him. He knew the names of every wildlife creature out there and knew where to find them also!
The boat is modern and clean and comfortable for a family of 6.
My only request/concern would be to offer complimentary refreshments and snacks/fruits. For the price of the excursion, this seems an appropriate request. We brought some water and minimal snacks and were famished at the end and would have been nice to have some additional snacks and soft drinks.
Overall, a fun, informative, interesting, and Naturally beautiful excursion. Great job Capt Alex !

We had a great day out on 9 August 2017 when we met with Capt Alex. He had previously asked what we wanted out of the trip and tailor made it for us. He pointed out all the marine and birdlife he saw, which were dolphins, manatees, turtles, bull shark, spoonbills, birds, crabs, fish. He made sure we were happy to move on before we left any area and when the dolphins started to perform for us he let us get our fill of the excitement. He even took videos of our day which was great to look back on (even the crab crawling up my husbands leg!)
We would certainly recommend Capt Alex to anyone looking to have a great day out on the water in Marco Island. Thanks Alex. Hope to see you again next year.

We all had a GREAT time. Alex is knowledgeable and personable. He really cared about our experience, and cared about what we truly wanted to do. It's not a standard cookie cutter tour. We had specific creatures and places we wanted to explore, and Alex was the perfect host and guide.
One day the weather forecast was not great, Alex called the day before to suggest we cancel and book for later in the week. He's a man of integrity, eager to provide quality service.
I highly recommend Florida Backcountry Adventures.

A superb way to get out on the water and spend time with family or friends on a unique activity. Captain Alex is knowledgable of the area and a gracious "host" on his boat. He really makes it feel like it's your day / your trip and customises the ride to whatever you'd like. We'll go back!

Our family of six thoroughly enjoyed two trips with Captain Alex- the tidal plain adventure and the ecotour. Both exceeded our expectations. We leaned so much about the area- the birds, the shells, the ecosystem. He scouted out a sea turtle for us and coaxed a dolphin to dance and leap in the boat’s wake. When visiting the tidal plain, we found and learned about shells, starfish, crabs, the ecosystem. Our captain introduced us to a world we had not previously appreciated.
The boat itself is very comfortable- shade is available if desired . Captain Alex personalized and the tours for us. We recommend this particular marine adventure to all!

Just returned from a fabulous trip out to see the marine wildlife off Marco Island. It was two and a half hours with the brilliant Alex.... very knowledgeable and friendly, he took us to places where he said we had a good chance of seeing the 'big three' and we weren't disappointed. We saw dolphins, two species of turtle and manatees. The trip was breathtaking and Alex was happy to answer all our questions and provided so much information. It was a trip well worth taking and I would recommend if to everyone!

What are the hours and can you make reservations? Is it individual Kayaks?

Current business hours are 7am-8pm. Tours are generally 7am-5pm. For couples or individuals, single kayaks are available--parties of 4 will need tandems. We are a group of 9 adults (Ages 60-68) who are interested in your kayak tour. Some of us have never kayaked before. Do you use tandem kayaks? What is your rate and how long is the tour? Do you ride out by boat to the kayak site? Thanks for answering our questions.
