Ok, this winter has flat s_cked for fishing. Cold, rain, then wind and wind and did I mention it’s been windy?
We finally got out with Captain Joe, anchored up on a local reef. Ive been on this reef many times and never reely (pun intended) hooked it up and put fish in the box.
Joe played the wind and current, had us modify our technique and we were on. Spanish mackerel, literally jumping out of the water. Sharks chasing, barracuda chasing, sea turtles all around, just a great hot day! Snapper were slim but given the predators in the area, understandable.
Best part was not wasting 1/2 the time going so far off shore. No, best part was catching lots of fish.

Amazing fishing today. I’ve used Joe many times. Never disappoints. Took my friend off shore for her first time today. Great success. Joe isn’t happy unless you’re happy

I wanted to write about our experience with Unreel because I really want people to know about this fishing charter service and the captain. I have been taking my family on vacation for five years and each year we stay for a week. We like the water alot and with that, we love to fish. I normally would set up multiple days with different charters for the first three years. These were always 1/2 day open or back water trips. The feedback from my family was "it was okay" "I wish we could have caught more" "it seemed like the time went by very quickly". With those comments, I was always searching for others that would provide an experience where my family would say "Wow, that was a great time can we fish with them again?". I found this with Unreel two years ago. This is the first captain I fished with who does not go to the same spot everyone else goes to catch his live bait. He does not fish in the same spots where everyone else goes and he truly takes it personally if the fish aren't biting! After many trips previously, my family would come back and wanted more, but when you fish with Joe, you'll get all you want when it comes to catching fish, learning about the different species you are fishing for and a great fun ride on an awesome boat. The boat absolutely rocks, he can go out further in a shorter amount of time to get where the real big fish are. Joe doesn't watch the clock either, he watches the experience works very hard to ensure each trip is successful. He provides great conversation, knowledge and has interest in the folks he is with. He is also a "safe" captain, this is important for me as I have two younger boys along with my wife who go on these trips. The first time we came back from a trip with Unreel two years ago, both my wife and kids told me to stop moving around and that we had found our captain. Marco Island is so much fun, but it helps when you can find the people that really add to the experience, Joe and Unreel charters do that. Try him out and you'll see. You'll get the time to fish because the guy loves to fish himself. If you're going to spend the money for these trips, try Unreel. In my opinion, this is the best value you can find. I have now fished with this guy five times in the last two years and attached some of the pictures from my phone on our last trip this summer. By the way, there is nothing better than having the fish cleaned (which Joe does for you) and taking them to a local spot and having them cooked up! They are fabulous.

fished with Capt. Joe Cacaro on unreel charters.....had an unbelievable time......really good boat and equipment and a capt. that really knows where the fish are. we started our day bottom fishing some of capt joes secret wrecks where we caught lots of red and gag grouper. At times we tusseled with their big brother the goliath grouper as well, but had no luck landing one (they were in the 2-400lb class) as they gave us all we could handle and more. later in the day I mentioned to Capt. Joe that i was intersted in catching a Permit, which I have tried to catch in the past, but never had any luck.....he drove us out to another one of his awesome spots and put me on, not one, but two fish that bent the rod in a big way....the first was a Permit that was about 15lbs, the second was a hog that weighed 36lbs.....it was an unbelievable experience that I will never forget...1st class all the way

We just returned from a half day fishing trip with Captain Joe and his first mate Michael. I have used several guides in Marco and Capt. Joe was hands down the best. His first mate Michael was great as well. We caught grouper and our fourteen year old caught a lemon shark with their help. Thanks for the wonderful memories!

Captain tried hard to catch fish but was not friendly or helpful. Smoked cigs and ashes flew in our face while we fished. Go elsewhere. There are better options.

I do truly love my job more than anyone could possibly imagine. I'm addressing the cig issue. Thank you and thank you for considering me. I do appreciate every customer and the opportunity to fish every day for a living.

Took a 3/4 trip with Capt. Joe in February. I've taken many charters from the Keys to the Atlantic Coast and Mexico to Alaska - this was by far the most enjoyable trip I have ever taken! His boat is extremely comfortable - there were five of us along with the Capt. We were on fish in no time - lots of 'em. And even landed a huge one. He is very knowledgeable, has great gear, and works to keep you on the fish. He's also a pleasure to visit with. I hope to make another trip to Marco Island some day to fish with him again. I can say, without a doubt, that you will not be disappointed by chartering with him!!

I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable fisherman with a reasonable understanding of various types of saltwater and brackish SW Florida fishing. Captain Joe and First Mate Michael truly introduced to me an entirely knew level of intellect when it comes to fishing in SW Florida. Fishing aside (I'll get to that in a moment), their knowledge and expertise fueled my passion for fishing by ten fold! Whether it was tidal, water temperature, time of year, bait fish, wind, or structure related, their intellect for fishing both the inshore and offshore waters of SW Florida is second to none! And all of this information was conveyed to us in the most modest and effective manner. Their passion and love for fishing is genuinely respected and appreciated; even after doing this for decades! As for the fishing... Where do I start? Between having a 10+ foot Tiger Shark swim around our boat for awhile, several hundred pound goliath groupers lurking beneath us, dolphins everywhere, massive stingrays picking off fish around us, and catching probably 15 different species of fish (many of them were keepers), "OUTSTANDING" would be an understatement!

Do yourself a favor and book a trip with Captain Joe and First Mate/Captain Michael. Anyone can find a half or full day of fishing that fits on your calendar. Life's too short to pass this one up! Call or email them ASAP and book a trip with Unreel Fishing Charters!
