my favorite place to go for a walk. Soon there is nobody around and you have the beach to yourself. You even can go for a swim without your trunks! Return walk almost two hours. Weekends a few more people during the week or when...More

This beach is very secluded and requires you walk a long way from the parking area. The beach is very nice, but do not go unless you are willing to walk a long way.

This is a private area; a huge private keep out sign is at the entrance to this area, people who own property along the public beach think they own everything. When it comes to refurbishing anything, NOW everyone should pay for it. Nice long walk...More

North of Tigertail Beach this is best experienced by boat, if you have one. The shelling is wonderful, and it's easy to land your boat safely on the south side of the tip. Get out you beach chair and a beer and spend the day.

Hideaway Beach is a gated community with a beautiful beach. So you can't walk right out to it if you are not a resident of Hideaway Beach homes and condos (think $$$$ 1-9 million) I heard you can reach it by walking from Tiger Tail....but...More

This beach was pretty nice. There was a lot of construction behind us. The beach itself was a little more narrow and a little more dirty than one and not as dirty as another. The parking was touch further away.

Hideaway Beach is a beautiful white sugar-sand, crescent-shaped beach on Marco Island's northwest Gulf of Mexico shore. Land access is only through the private club or walking from Tigertail Beach at low tide or docking a boat up to the mean high-tide mark. There is...More

Tigertail Beach Changes (8 Replies)
Any changes to the Tigertail area? I'm hoping the lagoon hasn't been closed off. Does anyone know if the Hideaway beach homes got any exceptional damage? Thanks.

billkat You'll absolutely love your trip to Kauai. As far as food goes, we tried to go to Zelo's but that day their grill was broken and they had a couple of cold cut sandwiches available. Therefore, we opted to go to another place. Scotty's BBQ was just ok. I didn't like my ribs but my husband loved his pulled pork. The service was only average, not bad but nothing to rave about either. I would go somewhere else if you can. Activities: You may want to skip Kauai Coffee Shop. It's just...More

Hideaway Beach in Feb. (4 Replies)
Aloha, I have been to Kauai but never to Hideaway Beach. I saw a post recently in which snorkeling was described as brilliant. Is that the case in Feb? North shore is generally not as safe in winter? Where exactly is the access and how steep is the trail down. Mahalo for your help!! Glynnis

Aloha billsgal: Indeed, the North shore is generally not safe in the winter months. That said, we just returned from 10 days in Paradise, and Hideaways was the best snorkeling spot for us. While I do not believe in luck, we were very fortunate to be able to snorkel there twice. The water was just like glass the second time we were there. We were absolutely mesmerized by its beauty. If you are staying North, you can check it out. Go down to the beach (a very beautiful, but small beach)...More
