Visited the dome homes today for the first time to see what remains of a local landmark. The interesting architecture was marred by people crawling all over the structures and carving their initials into the porous substrate that the concrete was added to. I never saw a building used as a written marriage proposal before! At least the nearby beaches... More

This is one of the homes that were once on the cape, now all taken by the gulf. Take a boat tour of the area, very interesting. We have been here many times always fun

Like the review of Cape Romano, this is a beautiful place. The beach is clean, not crowded and the last standing stilt house will be gone soon. Only accessible by boat but worth every minute.

The best way to experience this area is by a charter boat. You will be in awe to see what someone could build and wonder how they survived.

I kayaked over in the morning and stayed for an hour on the island. The side i came from was calm and buggy so I walk thru the mangrove path and you arrive at the quietest beautiful beach ever! There are so many shells and pieces of sponge etc. no one was there. There was a turtle nest too. I... More

We were boated out to the island and found so many shells and beautiful beaches. The Cape Romano dwellings were like a scene from Star Wars and were interesting, but nothing to write home about.

Geodesic domes on the water which were destroyed by a hurricane. Interesting place to visit and explore the beach which is virtually deserted.

Interesting home that has been taken almost by the storms off the coast of Marco Island. It is a great place for photographers. Interesting structure with the blue of the water and wild life that make it their home. If you can get to it (only by boat) it is interesting. You should google the history it gives you a... More

I had never heard of this area until I stumbled across photos on Instagram. I was instantly curious - what were these? Who built them? Are they really "marching out to sea"?? My sister and I made plans to check it out as soon as possible. The kayak trip from Marco Island to Cape Romano was intense... 10-12 hours! Definitely... More
