We have made the trip to Keewaydin using Hemmingway multiple times over the last few years. Val and Steve are great hosts and very accommodating (we go for the day and bring everything but the kitchen sink lol). Both are very knowledgeable about the area. The trip usually provides ample opportunities to see dolphins. The cost is very reasonable for the round trip and I would highly recommend this shuttle service.

Totally worth the cost, for a family of four about $170.00. We opted for a full afternoon out and packed a cooler backpack and a sunshade pop up tent because we have kids 13 & 10. They do have food boats but we did not use them.

We packed lots of water and stopped by Winn Dixie for a few prepared lunches and some fresh fruit.

We had a little mid-trip snafu with a cut foot and Hemingway was very response to a phone call. They were incredibly welcoming and easy going while running on time. We got a little mini tour and saw some dolphins on the way out.

We did not end up taking an earlier shuttle in. if it had been more of an emergency I'm confident they would have accommodated us specifically.

We do recommend a small first aid kit. We had one and it saved the afternoon.

Water shoes, sunglasses, block, water shirts, hats all highly recommend! It's easy to get lost shelling and burn to a crisp.

We booked a private (5 of us) sunset cruise on a weeknight. Hemingway was recommended to us by another charter company that didn’t have a private booking available. The entire experience, from booking, to getting to the boat dock, to the boat trip itself was fantastic. The owners were friendly and knowledgeable. The boat was very clean. Because of the weather we ended up not having any sunset to watch but even with the cloudy skies, we had a great time looking at the shorelines, learning about some of the local history, finding wildlife and exploring a small island (we were the only ones there!).

Highly recommend giving Hemingway Water Shuttle your business. We will definitely book with them again on future trips!

My wife and I really enjoyed the shelling trip to Keewaydin island with Hemingway Water Shuffle. Steve, Val, and their dog Jack were just the greatest! They made the trip very enjoyable to say the least. Val and Steve shared a great deal of information about the area which was very helpful. It was so nice that Steve took the time to allow us to see the dolphins of which there were many!

Also, the ride over and back was so smooth, which my wife really appreciated as she has back issues. Another nice thing was they have a ramp for you to be able to board on and off the boat and Val assists you as you are using the ramp.

We would definitely take this trip again and recommend it to anyone looking to have a great shelling experience.

Thanks Val, Steve, and of course Jack!! He is one neat dog!!

This couple is really nice, entertaining and take all of the stress and work out of getting to Keewaydin. They watch the weather very closely and alert you if and when a storm is on the way. My husband and I were scheduled to return at 2pm but our daughter and grandaughter were scheduled to return at 4pm. We all knew that a storm would be coming in the late afternoon but not sure what time. When they dropped us off at Rose Marina at about 2:30 they headed straight back to pick up the 4:oo people to make sure they got them back to the marina before the storm hit.
They have chairs and umbrellas to rent because there are none on the island. They spend a little time on the way out to take you on a bit of a dolphin watch, which was fun. And yet they can get you to Keywaydin much quicker than if you rented a pontoon boat because they go out into the Gulf, which is a much shorter way to the island. Rental pontoon boats are not allowed to go out into the Gulf. The rentals are required to take the long (and a bit confusing) route which winds through the inland waterways (and it is very easy to get lost).
Oh, let's not forget Jack. He is their very beautiful and friendly grand dog who occasionally makes the trip with them. The Hemingway Water Shuttle is a really great experience and well worth the cost.

My family of 8 (7 adults and a 15 month old) had a great time on the sunset cruise. The owners were very pleasant to book with and tailored the cruise to my family. We saw the most beautiful sunset and several dolphins. The cruise was private and BYOB. Totally worth it!

What a wonderful experience! The boat ride was so much fun! Steve expertly drove the pontoon while his wife Val gave us some fun facts about Marco Island on our passage to Keewaydin Island! Along our journey, we saw some dolphins frolicking in the Marco Island river and their “grand-pup” Jack would get all excited! The island is definitely something you should try to experience and hire this amazing husband & wife team! You are allowed to bring your coolers, chairs and beach bags aboard! Plenty of room! It takes about 45 min to get there. But they have various time options to depart from and return to, to fit anyone’s schedule. All aboard the Hemingway Water Shuttle!

A must to do on your list! We enjoyed the day so much that we did it twice. The boat is nicely sized to accommodate about 20 people . With Covid, we never felt crammed . The hosts are exceptional in telling bits of information while on the boat . They will even go out of their way to make sure you see dolphins! The boat was on time in both directions. Keewaydin is beautiful. Very calm and gorgeous. Be sure to search for sand dollars and unique shells!

Perfect way to get to Keewaydin Island for fantastic beach experience. We've rented boats in the past but the Hemingway Water Shuttle gets you there quicker without the hassle of the boat rental and getting your group to the island beaches. Highly recommend!

The #1 thing that for my 9-year old wanted to do on our family trip was shelling. He spent 3 months researching shells and making lists of which ones he wanted. I knew that just hitting a beach wouldn't cut it. When I started researching shelling tours, I found them to be a bit expensive and limited on actual time to shell. Then I came across Hemingway Water Shuttle. We could not have been more thrilled with our experience. The crew was fantastic. They were professional and personable. When a passenger spotted dolphins, they made their way closer to them so we all could watch for a few minutes. They did this a number of times on our trek back and forth. They gave us history, information, and just fun stories about the area we were covering. They were aware that a number of us were headed out for shells, so they gave tips on which direction to go once we got to the beach, and where to find the special shells we were seeking. I loved that I could choose my departure and return times. We could have spent all day out there collecting shells. Be aware that there are no facilities on the island, so pack accordingly. You are allowed a cooler on the shuttle, which is what we did for a picnic lunch and extra water and it worked out great. I believe there is a food boat as well, but we did not try it. My family highly recommends Hemingway Water Shuttle and if we are ever lucky enough to find ourselves in the area again, the first thing I will do is book another outing with them.
