We took the sunset pirate cruise in early March (the very beginning of coronavirus, so I think it may have been a less crowded boat than is typical). Free beer, wine, and sodas, specialty drinks available for purchase. It was a gorgeous evening, and we did catch the sunset, which was also fantastic. We cruised the intracoastal, not going past the drawbridge at John's Pass. Primarily cruised inlets surrounded by residential house, which I enjoyed. As a pirate ship, the front slopes up quite a bit, so you really can only see over the sides, which is fine. Seating is on long metal boxes along the sides, and if there had been any more people on our ship, it would have been standing room only.
The captain stayed up top, driving the ship the entire time. Our other two pirates, Tim and Tina were in charge of bartending and entertainment and they did a great job, keeping the kids busy so the parents could relax and enjoy the evening and drinks. They were enthusiastic and energetic and really, really made it a good experience.
Our son (age 5) had a great time with squirt guns, pirate stories, and hunting for treasure.
Would definitely recommend this trip for families with young children, and if we are in the area, we'll be doing it again!
