I have family with kids coming in for the holidays, so I wanted to check out some family friendly things to do with them. I am so excited to take them on Pirate Ship. There are 2 pirates and a captain dressed in full pirate costumes and basically entertain the kids for a full hour and a half with pirate stories, trasure hunt, face painting and water gun battles. But here is the best part. While the kids are being entertained, the adults get FREE BOOZE and can hang out on the upper deck with the captain ! The selection of free beverages was huge, Corona, Shock Top we're some of the beer choices, there were 3 choices of wine, as well as lime-a-ritas and other flavored alcoholic beverages. What more could anyone want ?!? I can't wait to take my whole family out on it. They sail daily at 1, 3 and 5, and price is worth every penny.

We took the sunset pirate cruise in early March (the very beginning of coronavirus, so I think it may have been a less crowded boat than is typical). Free beer, wine, and sodas, specialty drinks available for purchase. It was a gorgeous evening, and we did catch the sunset, which was also fantastic. We cruised the intracoastal, not going past the drawbridge at John's Pass. Primarily cruised inlets surrounded by residential house, which I enjoyed. As a pirate ship, the front slopes up quite a bit, so you really can only see over the sides, which is fine. Seating is on long metal boxes along the sides, and if there had been any more people on our ship, it would have been standing room only.

The captain stayed up top, driving the ship the entire time. Our other two pirates, Tim and Tina were in charge of bartending and entertainment and they did a great job, keeping the kids busy so the parents could relax and enjoy the evening and drinks. They were enthusiastic and energetic and really, really made it a good experience.
Our son (age 5) had a great time with squirt guns, pirate stories, and hunting for treasure.

Would definitely recommend this trip for families with young children, and if we are in the area, we'll be doing it again!

We booked the cruise with my two kids (7 & 5) and their grandmother. The weather the week we were in Madeira was not great and we wanted to do something outside with the kids. The morning of the trip the boating forecast was bad, 4-6' seas. We went anyway and glad we did. The bay was calm and the boat ride enjoyable. It is not a big boat and limited seating. For the most part the kids are off doing activities with the onboard pirates, who are really great. I was tapped to play a role in the show and get in costume, so be prepared for that possibility, but it was fun and the kids thought it was awesome their dad was in it. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a selection of beers (bud, coors, etc.) I figured it would be flat keg beer, but it is cans also wine and drinks (for $$). Probably a one and done for us, but I would recommend it to anyone with kids.

Very crowded - about 50 passengers total. The staff was rude - maybe this is their intention since they're "pirates", but it seems a bit much when they are interacting with children. Brian should keep in mind that he's an adult (as much as one can be while dressing as a pirate for a living) when he's speaking to a child. The trip was only 1 hour as we left 20 minutes late. The face painting was horrible... Either put effort into it or don't do it at all, in my opinion. I paid over $100 for 3 people and it was definitely not worth the money.

The Pirate Ship is a great experience overall. The crew interacts with the public throughout the journey around the Bay. The Captain of the vessel is a true professional as I had the opportunity to talk to him at length during the sailing. Kids are welcome and the crew gets them involved during the time on the water. Beer is unlimited and free with the cost of passage. Before getting on the ship, the family has its picture taken by one of the crew. All in all, it's a very pleasant way to spend part of an afternoon at John's pass.

The crew was nice. We took the last trip of the day expecting it to be focused more on adults. The crew invested their time with the large group of kids telling stories, etc. The kids had a lot of fun. I’m sure if I had YOUNG grandkids along my rating would be higher. I asked a boy who was about 12 what he thought, and got a smirk from him. The seating was uncomfortable. There was no sightseeing commentary.
We should have taken the dolphin cruise instead.

Thank you for your review! Our Pirate Ship is indeed an entertainment cruise vs. a narrated sightseeing tour and we do our bet to make it fun for all ages. We would love to have you join us on our Dolphin Quest the next time you are here!! 🏴‍☠️🐬

What a wonderful trip. We all had so much Fun!! The pirates kept the kids engaged with activities the entire trip. My grandchildren had the best time. They enjoyed pirate stories, had a treasure hunt, face painting, water guns, and even did the limbo. We enjoyed the boat ride and the sunset. Free wine and beer for the adults. A family trip to remember. Even shot the canon! Thank You!!!

The ship was fun, the dude booking on the phone was super efficient and great. Our first sailing was cancelled (not enough people ... time of year thing, probably) and we easily jumped on the next sailing. Our 6 year old was in heaven. He was STOKED that the staff and everyone was 100% into it. The ship wasn't "overbooked" or too crowded, and that w

This trip was a lot of fun but be prepared to get wet from the water gun fights. The trip is more child oriented which I didn't realize when I bought the tickets but it's still a good time if you're an adult with nice views and free beer and wine. I would do this again but next time bring my son. Staff was very friendly and they had some nice things in the gift shop. Beware of the bathroom next to the shop though. While it was very clean the doorway is not friendly to tall people. There is a parking garage near the shop and the area can get quite busy. If you're using GPS and it says it will take 2 hours to get there give yourself at least an extra 30 to 45 minutes to account for rush hour and parking. We were running late and luckily the staff called and asked if we were coming and waited on us a minute. Very fun experience and will have to come back.

My daughter is 3.5 years old and she had a fantastic time on the pirate ship! The young guys on the boat were so great with the kids and they had a blast with the water gun fights and pirate stories. There’s also free bud light and wine for the parents. I noticed some reviews on here complaining about the water guns...this definitely is all about the kids fun, but they do keep the upper deck of the boat reserved for adults, so you can avoid the water fight if you wish. This was a great time and we’ll definitely do this again when in Treasure Island!

Thank you for the feedback. You are correct as we do try to provide an area for adults to hang out away from the activity. But everyone is more than welcome to join in the fun. We look forward to seeing you again in the future!
