Great drive-thru safari. Lots of fun. Highly recommend.
This was an amazing place and a lot of fun. Pretty large drive-thru safari with lots of animals. All the animals EXCEPT the lions have free roaming privileges and are not enclosed in any manner (other than within their designated wildlife area), so you can se them crossing the road in front of you if they so happen to do so. The lions have their own plains to roam in, but are enclosed (otherwise, there wouldn't be much of a safari left). After the safari, there is a nice animal exhibit area. Like a small zoo that has some birds and whatnot. Quite a lot of fun as well. Highly recommend going to this activity, even though it is quite a bit out of the way, at least from Miami.
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing your detailed positive feedback! We appreciate any guests that drive up from the Miami area and elsewhere in South Florida. The experience offered here is unique, and can take an entire day to fully enjoy all that we have to offer. We hope to see you again in the future for more WILD fun!

    A lovely place to be
Great experience in a beautiful park. We had a friendly reception. The place is clan, organized, beautiful. The animals are close enough to be seen, but they also have their privacy. They looked well treated. A nice experience!
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing some details about your experience! We're so glad you enjoyed your visit and that our staff, animals and animal care made positive impressions on you. We hope to see you again in the future for more WILD fun!

Neat little taste of African safari
I took my Mom to Florida as she hadn’t been there in years and hadn’t ever seen a whole lot aside from usual city tourist attractions. I had been to Lion Country before and knew she’d love it. Definitely use the audio tour (free from website) that you play through your phone through your car stereo. It plays along giving info about what you are seeing and as long as go no more than 5 miles per hour, it keeps on track and talks about what you are seeing as you go. The animals are so healthy and seem so happy. The areas in which they live are beautiful and natural. No awful cages here! You have to keep your windows closed. And drive very slowly as ostriches and rhinos may walk across the road right in front of you. Was so much fun to watch a mommy and baby lion play and play - jumping on each other and play swatting. To see rhino bodies and giant bush bucks so close was really neat. They do lots of conservation and clearly have great breeding programs as there are so many young animals. I couldn’t believe that there were like 20 rhinos and several babies. I’ve never seen so many giraffes all in one place. It takes about 1 - 1.25 hour to drive through the whole thing. You can pull over and stop to watch as you wish. There is another part of the park with kiddie rides and walk through areas which we did not go through but looks sweet. Go! You’ll love getting a little taste of an African or Indian safari. Be respectful and go slow and don’t get purposefully too close as to disturb the animals. We were glad we didn’t see any cars doing anything inappropriate that would harass the animals.
We appreciate you visiting and taking the time to share such extensive feedback with us! It's great that there were so many elements of your visit that you considered to be worth highlighting, and it's especially sweet of you to have brought your mom so she could create her own amazing memories on safari with us. It would be our pleasure to see you again in the future whenever you're in our area!

    Amazing experience!
Beautiful drive-through experience. It was raining but we didn’t mind since we were in our car. Animals were lively and right by the road as we drove by. So cool! Went to the giraffe feeding and Beth was amazing! Fed the giraffes and the kids loved it!
Thank you so much for spending the day on safari with us and taking the time to share your positive feedback! We will be sure to recognize Beth for her efforts in providing you with an awesome giraffe feeding experience!

Up Close and Intimate with Nature….
A rare opportunity to be up close and intimate with exotic animals of the world…. It all begins with a drive through safari experience among free roaming giraffes, emus, rhinoceros, lions and much much more. My first visit to Lion Country Safari was back in 1974. I experienced the same thrill I had as a child now as an adult. Lion Country Safari offers many ways to encounter wild life in natural settings including opportunities to hand feed the giraffes to petting zoo experiences … This is truly special. You will have a wonderful day and great for the entire family !
Thank you so much for sharing your positive feedback and reminiscing about your first visit shortly after we opened back in 1967! While we have updated many attractions and amenities and added new species over the years, our mission still includes providing family-friendly fun and educating our guests about these amazing animals and the conservation of species in the wild. We hope to see you for many more visits in the future!

    Try it. You’ll like it!
My visit to Lion Country Safari was a tremendously enjoyable day. The park is immaculate and well tended throughout. All of the animals looked to be content, alert, and meticulously well cared for. The “Safari” which is the drive-through the park was a complete winner. With the trip taking a little over an hour, we saw flocks of birds and so many animals up close along with caretakers who were looking after them in the wild. At the end of the Safari, we decided to have lunch in the restaurant and wow it was a great experience. The facility was a family-friendly restaurant that was spacious, new, immaculate, and attractive and the food was absolutely terrific. I had a cola and a smash burger that was the best burger I’ve eaten in a long time. My companions had salads that they loved. You really don’t expect crisp and delicious salads in a park like this, but Lion Country Safari pulled those off beautifully thanks to a friendly and helpful staff. For dessert, we each chose the pineapple Dole Whip that was a refreshing and delightful treat. We each made some purchases at two different gift shops that are well above the average attraction gift shop - nice jewelry for instance. Friends of mine have told me what a great experience it is at this park, but I had no idea how good it would be until I visited. Next time, I will take advantage of more things that the park has to offer and might even consider staying in a cabin overnight. As an old commercial says, “Try it. You’ll like it!”
Thank you so much for spending the day on safari with us and taking the time to share such detailed feedback describing your experience! We're thrilled that there were so many elements of your visit worth highlighting, from the amazing animals in our drive-through safari to the awesome attractions and amenities in the walk-through adventure park. You feel like you are in the jungle.
We were not expecting such a incredible park in Florida. The park is well organized and needs a whole day to enjoy many of its exhibits. This is a wonderful adventure for the whole family. We saved the drive through for the end of the day. Was absolutely fantastic.
We appreciate you visiting us and sharing your experience for future guests to see! Driving through in the morning or late afternoon can be the best times to see our animals being active, so some guests like to time their activities that way or even drive through more than once to fully enjoy their experience. Thank you again and we hope to see you back at the park soon!

    Way better than expected.
Really great stop. Thought we were stopping for an hour drive through safari - but there’s a ton more. The drive through part is pretty cool…we liked going at our own pace. Then, the rest of the place, the small rides, exhibits, and water park kept us there way longer than we thought and the kids loved it. Everything looks very well maintained and didn’t look like your traditional tourist trap. At first, we thought the price may not be worth it but we were wrong. Spent the whole day.
Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us! We appreciate you highlighting how much there is to do at the park and the value you got out of your admission costs in particular. It would be a great pleasure to see you again in the future for more WILD fun!

    Great attraction!
Great experience every time I come here! The animals are amazing! Over the years, I have visited 4-5 times. Take your time on the route. You will experience unique pleasures! Morning is best time to go since the animals are more active. Definitely worth the time!
Thank you so much for being a frequent visitor over the years and taking the time to share such nice feedback with us! Your tip of visiting early is definitely a helpful one for future guests, as the animals tend to prefer any cooler temperatures as a break from the Florida heat. We hope to see you again for more fun visits in the future!

So much to see, do and enjoy!
This park was a phenomenal experience! We arrived a little after 1pm and planned on only doing the drive-thru portion as we were not accustomed to the South Florida heat. Found out the "drive-thru" only passes only sold starting at 3:30pm. The cost for both (drive/walk) parks was very reasonable. So glad we purchased both! By the time we made one pass through (traffic was light, ample time to stop and snap photos) it was a little before 4. Parked close to the entrance (again, late in day, parking lot nearly empty). We walked thru almost the entire park at a very leisure pace. It was wonderful. We even fed the giraffes and explored the water park. Even though we didn't experience 100% of the park, we felt we definitely got our monies worth. P.S. - someone from my hometown of New Hartford NY donated Cinnamon the Lion to the park (then called Safari Land) in fall of 1969.
Thank you so much for spending the day on safari and taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us! We're so glad you got to see the drive-through safari and walk-through adventure park, since there's so much to do and see with the one admission price. It would be our pleasure to see you again in the future! P.S. our longest tenured wildlife staff would not have overlapped with Cinnamon, and our digital records do not go back that far. Very cool story nonetheless!

Really impressive drive through Safari animal park and as a bonus there is a small amusement/water park that mainly caters to kids 8 and under. The admission to the rides and water park are included with the admission to the drive through Safari.

Unlike other drive through safari parks we have been to, you cannot feed the animals at this one. This is probably better for the animals and your car. This safari park is also AZA accredited, which speaks to the quality of the care and the variety of animals you will see.

I believe the only two animals on the drive through safari that you can’t really drive through are the lions (separated from the road by fences) and the orangutans (separates by a moat from the road). All of the rest of the animals can cross the road at anytime. Takes about an hour to drive through and you can go through as many times as you wish.

We were very impressed by the friendliness of the employees, especially on the amusement rides and the food service. Main restaurant serves the normal sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs but it is done buffet style, so you don’t have to wait for the food to be cooked.

There are a several animal exhibits inside the amusement park, so you may want to stop even if you don’t want to ride the rides. Don’t miss the boat ride, which goes around islands of spider monkeys and feeding the giraffes (bunch of lettuce cost $5).

The amusement park rides are very basic and comparable to what one would find at a county fair midway for kids.

Biggest disappointment is the price. Much more money than a typical zoo and there is no option to just buy the safari and not the amusement/water park.

Regular admission prices are $39 and $30 for a kid 3-9. This admission price does not include tax or an extra $8 for “parking,” which is a blatant rip off charge, especially if you are only doing the safari part and you never actually park your car.

Even though this park is an AZA member, it doesn’t offer an AZA member reciprocity discount like other AZA zoos do. We had an $8 off/person coupon but that still means for a family of four (with two kids), it cost us $114 (without tax). For comparison sake, the Palm Beach Zoo would cost a family of four $88 (without taking into account any discount) and does offer the typical AZA member discount. With the AZA discount, a family of four can visit the Palm Beach Zoo for $44.

Thank you for the honest and detailed feedback from your recent visit! We're glad that you enjoyed the drive-through safari and walk-through amusement park. With all there is to see and do on safari, including unlimited trips through the 4-mile preserve, complimentary rides, miniature golf, interactive shows and animal talks, guests should plan to spend the entire day here in our two parks. Here in South Florida, it can be difficult to find activities that offer so much for comparable prices. We will take your feedback into consideration and review our rates and discounts in the future. Thanks again for visiting and sharing your experience with us!

We came here as two adults. Entrance fees are expensive but we used a coupon and for those with children, there is enough to keep them busy for a number of hours which makes it reasonable. The drive through safari is large with many zebras, ostrich, water buffalo, elk, pelicans, oxen, rhinos, giraffe. We only saw two lions but maybe we missed them. The narrative that is on the radio is good, but it is hard to match it with the animals you are seeing as you are driving slower. After the safari, we went into the walk through park. We fed the giraffe lettuce leaves for $5 which was fun. There is a large gift store and cafe in the park as well as mini golf, paddle boats, water park area for kids. Animals in the walk through area are crocodiles, flamingos, turtles, macaws, and others. It is a little confusing to find your way through this area but you can consult the map. In all, a fun day to be had for all ages, although most fun for the under 12 crowd.

My family brought me as a child a few times, and I LOVED it. It’s really incredible to bring your children to do something you enjoyed as a child. The growth the park after the Safari has had is so nice to see. You can really make a whole day of it. There’s nothing rushed about the entire experience. The drive through Safari is so easy to see the animals and I love the ride along cd that explains everything to you as you drive through. Pulling over to stop and take pictures while others pass by. Every time we go I forget how long and how much you get to see on the Safari drive itself. It’s amazing.

The kiddy rides at the park are perfect for toddlers. The park has lots of paved little roads that are easy to get to place to place and are well maintained and clean.
We even look forward to eating there! Simple fired food but chicken tenders and fries rival local restaurants!
The new splash area always looks so fun! But we seem to always hit on a chilly day and have yet to utilize it! Can’t wait for next year!

I will say this time there was a computer error so we had to wait in line to get in a little longer than usual. The I assume man in charge was overly kind in making it up to us. We really didn’t mind the wait! We planned ahead to use the coupon on the website to cut down on the costs but for what it is I still think the cost is SO REASONABLE!! An experience you truly can’t get anywhere else.

I was very excited when I heard that Marcella Leone was buying this. After all, she is the only person to have a private zoo on their estate in Greenwich CT. While she has improved the fencing, she has also gotten rid of the vast majority of the animals. The Elephants? All gone, replaced by one lonely white rhino. The Pride of Lions? All gone except for 2 lions. The Rhinos? 80% gone. The zebras? 75% gone. The girrafes? Maybe 40% remains. The chimps all gone except for 3. What do they have? Water buffalo , antelope and several other african species of bovines. But, she has succeeded in jacking the rates up to $50 for one person to drive through. I was really disappointed. This used to be my daughter's favorite place when we ived in FL in the winter. I really hope that when the animals have a chance to breed, she doesnt sell them right off.

Thank you for your feedback. We hope you are able to send us an email to discuss your review further, as there as some discrepancies in information here that we would happily clear up, including a change of ownership. In the early 2000s, there was a shift within the field of wildlife management to keep elephants in larger herds, simulating the large herds they would form in the wild. While it was a difficult decision, it was the right decision to move our elephants to other facilities with more space and more elephants. Our Southern white rhinoceros, giraffe and zebra herds are some of the largest in human care, including the largest herd of zebra outside of Africa. We were proud to announce the recent births of two lion cubs, Atlas and Mara, who represent the start of a new pride of lions that can occupy the expanded habitat that was renovated in 2018. We have had a reduced number of chimpanzees out this week due to some necessary medical checks, but the 8 chimpanzees that remain out can be seen climbing around their structures, setting up beds for afternoon naps, and interacting with each other as they always do. The 100 species that call LCS home include a total of almost 1,000 individual animals. If you would like to follow up, we are available via email at guestservices@lioncountrysafari.com.

I am writing this just after we came from this place. It is a combination drive-thru and walk-thru "park". It was not cheap ($35 for adults + $8 parking) but you can find some coupons online or at most hotels. You drive your car through the first part of it, seeing rhinos, zebras, water buffalo, ostriches, chimpanzees, and much more. You cannot get out of your car or roll down your windows to feed the animals, but many of them get very close to your vehicle (and we did roll down the window a few times to get better pictures...not saying I am proud of that). You then get to walk through an area that has numerous animals, including a little petting zoo and where you can feed some animals and/or birds. We did not have kids with us, but all of the kids I saw were having a great time. We thought it was a pretty neat place, and not too expensive.

This is a most due. If you want to experience a close encouter like a real safari at your own pace this is the place. You can see a wide variety of animals in the wild or as near as you can see then. You can go at your own pace. The animals and the savanah are spectacular and well mantained. The beauty of safari adventure is that you can do it as many times as you wish the same day. This place is a whole package for the price you pay and spend a whole day: safari, petting zoo, giraffe feeding station, small water park and other activities.

This was a perfect activity during quarantine. We purchased our tickets through the website (eventbright) and had our QR code for the entrance. It was a 2 hours drive so we made a pit stop just before the entrance. Restrooms were clean and spacious. Two attendants were hanging around keeping it orderly. (Thank you!)

Just inside the park we saw pelicans and tapirs. The tapirs were walking between vehicles. Next we came upon ostriches and ostriches and more ostriches. They were everywhere prompting one of us to say it should be named Ostrich Country Safari since they far outnumbered the lions. The lion enclosure keeps them from roaming around cars. It appeared to have 2 males in 2 different enclosures on the right, a pair of females in an enclosure on the left, and then another enclosure on the right with 3 or 4 younger females. The lines moved very slowly through this section and so there was lots of time spent waiting to see something.

The herding impalas were abundant. The rhinos, zebra and primates were near the end as were the giraffes. Our kiddos were tired by the time we got to these star critters. We weren't sure where the outdoor gift area was located. So we didn't stop as we were leaving and opted instead to grab ice cream at a nearby McDonald's.

Pricing is odd since it's per person. We paid for 5 which included full price on an infant. A per vehicle price seems more reasonable.

I remember visiting the Lion country safari when I was in 5th grade in the 1980s. I loved it then and fast forward almost 40 years, was excited to bring my kids there now. We drove up from Miami which took around an hour and a half. We drove through the safari which also took around an hour and 20 minutes. Once we got back, we had spent hours in the car. Just keep that in mind when you are planning your day. That said, the drive-through safari part was wonderful. We followed along with the narration and it was very helpful (drop boring and confusing, like it didn't necessarily keep up with where we were. but, mostly it was helpful). There were many animals to see and I appreciated that we were able to stop when we wanted to to just watch. The lions were especially amazing. The kids really enjoyed the ride through and having all the animals so near by. After we drove through we were able to enjoy a few of the other attractions. See, here's the thing: after driving up from Miami for an hour and a half and driving through the safari leisurely, which is the whole point of the day, the attractions close too early. We did this on a Sunday and we left Miami around 12:30 (we were 5 ppl and that's early for us!). So we got to the park at 2, finished the safari at 3:30 and the attractions are closed, nothing to talk about by 5. It wasn't a lot of time with the attractions. We took the little boat around the lake- we waited for about 15 minutes for that ride which took less than 5 minutes. And we literally just did one turn around the lake. It was nice to have a breeze for a few minutes, but, that was not a good use of our time. The little kids wanted to feed the birds and the big kids wanted to go on the big slide. We split up and were the last ones to feed the birds before they closed the aviary. The big kids reported that the slide was not too scary for the little kids, so we headed there next only to see that even though it was not yet 5, the whole slide and water splashing area was not only shut down but it was closed off and deserted. The only thing still open at 5 was the "giraffe encounter" where you could pay $5 to get lettuce to feed a giraffe. That was cool, but, at some point it seemed obvious to all of us that the giraffe was also chewing a lizard. It had been on the lettuce and was no moving around inside the giraffe's mouth, unbeknownst to the giraffe. My kids were grossed out and fascinated at the same time. Overall, it cost me $200 for my family for the day. The safari was just as wonderful as I imagined, so I'd love to give the place 5 stars. But, I wish the attractions would have been opened later. On a Sunday, for people like us coming from Miami, 5 o'clock does not work. The attractions looked fun and they really have something to appeal to kids of all ages and stripes, but, it was frustrating that everything closed so early.

Thank you for your thorough feedback after your recent visit! We appreciate you taking the time to come and visit us after your previous visit, and we're glad that you enjoyed the drive-through safari and attractions such as our animal feedings and fun slide. With our park being open until 5:30 pm, the earliest closures would typically be 5:15 pm for certain water features and animal feeding attractions. We do occasionally have early closures for maintenance or weather-related reasons. On Sunday, October 17th, our Safari Falls water feature closed around 3:30 pm due to a need to flush the entire water system after an accident. Our recommendation is for guests to arrive early to enjoy all that we have to offer, and we open at 9:30 am on Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am on Monday through Friday. We are interested to learn more about your observation at the giraffe feeding platform, so feel free to email us at guestservices@lioncountrysafari.com with any additional information.

Unlike the safari park in Virginia, this one does not let you feed the animals and you should keep the windows up at all time. There were no lines and you can listen to basic commentary on your phone from their website.

Allow 3 hours minimum if you want to enjoy the ride through the park and take photos and visit the walk through amusement park (petting zoo, more animals, cafes, children program, etc).

It was fun for the entire family.

Your feedback is much appreciated and we're glad you enjoyed your visit! Safety is a top priority for us, and guests are still able to feed animals in a controlled environment once they get to our Safari World walk-through park. The advice you offered to future guests will be quite helpful in planning, and we hope you can plan your own return visit in the near future!

This is a trip worth $22+taxes+fees a person, you can actually get as close as you can to the animals even the rhinos! But it is not recommended but they are sooo friendly and the place is very well maintained. I pay $70 for my family of three and had a better experience here taking pictures of the animals then i did paying $500 for animal kingdom. The best part is that I don't have to wait in line and I can take as many pictures and time as I need to be satisfied with my money. The only downfall is the drive to get here because it is quite a drive depending on where you live but if you live in the palm beach area it is a plus! So give or take if you're willing to wait for hours in line at disney animal kingdom then you can drive a bit to get close to the same animal herd here! This is a must try if you need something to do in florida!

We really appreciate you taking the time to drive through our 4 mile preserve and share your feedback for others to see! Guests of all ages are sure to enjoy seeing animals right outside the window as they drive through in the comfort of their own vehicle. For those that drive long distances to see us, we have light concessions available daily during our limited operations (as of January 2021) and a food truck open on the weekends. Thanks again for the stellar review and we hope to see you again soon!
