Beware the biting bugs
Nov 2020 • Couples
This little nature park needs maintenance. There is an area with benches to see the lake; but it is so overgrown you can’t see it. Nice. Peaceful walk, no wildlife or birds. I put mosquito spray and they still bit me through my pants and socks.

Natural historic area
Oct 2019
The trails have recently improved by the Lake County Water Authority with blaze markings to help identify them. Quiet and peaceful. Cracker Cabin has informational museum that tells about the first settlers in the area and will be completed around November 1.

Nice little walk
Oct 2018 • Couples
This is a neat little walk for all ages. Great place for pictures. I wish the trails were a bit better marked because we ended up in someone's front yard but no harm done.

Quiet place to spend a few hours.

The little red house you see in the cover photo of this park is pretty unique. You know there's got to be quite a story behind it. However, we arrived there, the door was open but no one was around. Interesting information on the walls dealing with the history of the area and the part that turpentine played in it. Attached to a tree-trunk, just out of the picture to the right, was a small bird-house-looking thing that had a sign-in sheet on a clipboard for those of us/you who might want to go walking on the trails that go down to the dock and the waterfront. Quiet, calm, no one around, peaceful to just look at the scenery and listen to the silence.

Quiet Place for a Short Walk in the Woods
Apr 2019 • Couples
We spent a weekday afternoon in Bourlay Park and did not see another soul. The pier on Lake Griffin was a delightful place to sit and watch the ospreys fishing. I found the exhibits in the cracker house to be very informative and interesting. Plus, we picked up some brochures for more Water Authority parks. The trails are essentially flat and well maintained so it is very easy walking.

Nice park for walking, hiking or just enjoying
Mar 2018 • Couples
Boulay park is pretty much in the center of Leesburg and is not even known by many. It is on donated land from the Bourlay family where their family house is still in use. The park is fully wooded, but maybe not original forest. Trails cris-cross the property for leisurely walks or rigorous hiking. There is a small jetty extending into lake Harris with a good view. The narrow entrance road is actually for vehicles even though it looks only for pedestrians or bicycles.

I enjoy Bourlay for the birding. A nice leisurely walk by the water or through the wood. Nice hiking trails.

I went to the park to look out for a scouting service project and was amazed. Within a matter of yards, I thought I was in a very rustic area and not in a city park.
