FSC has had a long presence in Lakeland and many don't know the historical significance of the Frank Lloyd Wright design. Plan a trip up to campus and enjoy the historic buildings, but watch your head. FLW was a short man and didn't care much for tall people. Also look up the historical haunting son campus.

Florida Southern College was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright during the Great Depression. While the College has expanded significantly, the FLW buildings are still there. We knew that the (original) Library would not be open when we visited, so we went to one of the Lecture Series on Thursday night (Google Florida Southern College Lecture Series) since those are held... If you have an interest in the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, you must make a pilgrimage to the Florida Southern College campus. While these buildings have been here for decades, only recently have they begun to carefully preserve and restore these architectural gems. They have even built a Usonian house across the street next to the visitor center. Newly... More

Architecture from another century as modern as today. The tour guide was amusing and knowledgeable and loved what he was doing. This made for a pleasant 2 hours. Will go again. When of Central Florida" hidden wonders".

I visited on a sunny, warm day with two friends who I was visiting in south Florida. I am a graduate of FSC and used to give tours to visitors in the 70's. This outstanding tour made mine look lame! Bill Stevens, also a grad of the Class of 72, was our guide. He personalized the tour with comments comparing... More

This campus, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a design gem! Take a tour and enjoy the detail. The cook shack in the middle of campus is not a bad stop for burgers. If you really want and uplifting experience, attend the Sunday morning worship service at 11:00 in the Annie Phiffer Chapel.

Can study in the library, Walk and smell the roses, ride a bike around it, meditate at the temple , see Lake Hollingsworth sparkle in the background, go to Chapel, have a bite, and see architectural history (FrankLloyd Wright, not "so long") Sent my kids there, wished it was me for the beauty but DOESN'T deliver bang for your academic... If traveling in Lakeland, FL - definitely stop at FL Southern College and visit the Frank Lloyd Wright visitors center and TOUR! After the Great Depression, with student enrollment dwindling, the College President asked then TIME Magazine "Man of the Year" - Frank Lloyd Wright - famed architect - to design a new campus. The project, of over 30 years,... More
