Although we have been to Lake a Worth many times , we have never walked through this natural area. The city has done a fine job building this Boardwalk /pier out through the mangroves into the intercostal. Fishing is allowed from the pier. And snook are some of the local catch. It is a short but enjoyable respite. Next to it is a larger park with a boat ramp and picnic area along with clean rest rooms. Do stop by. Don't be too alarmed by the fact that some homeless seem to make it their day resting spot.

Walked the various boardwalks at Snook Islands on an overcast gray day and high winds, didn’t see much but will return on a nicer day. Impressive boardwalks here with great views of the intracoastal waterway and the bustling boat traffic to and from. Detractors are the shady individuals hanging out in this area. I would not recommend visiting after sunset. Restrooms available in the parking lot were fairly well maintained.

Lovely path out to the a dock and seating area. If you have a canoe or kayak even better experience.

My husband and I love to kayak, but in Florida, it can be a bit challenging in warmer weather without canopy to keep the sun off. However, last month, we decided to try the Snook Islands out.... for a spin on our anniversary. Being that the Snook Islands are fairly new, we did not expect much, but it was fantastic! Right away, we had easy access to drop off the kayaks and parking was not to far away. The kayak platform is also designed for easy access into the waters because of the overhead bars. The waters were fairly calm, and each island became our goal to move forward. The waters east of the islands had occasional boat traffic, but mostly, we felt isolated and at peace. The wildlife was fantastic as birds perched or ran on the tiny shorelines. These islands are all man made, and there was a great deal of controversy on whether they would enhance wildlife, and if they would succeed on their own (the plantings)? For the most part, these islands have been successful! Fish are regenerating, manatees now have a safe pathway, and wildlife has a safe place to nest and forage. I look forward to returning yearly to watch the expansion of the islands and the wildlife!
Only setback was that we traveled out with the winds and coming back was a bit of a strain (no worries as our next stop was at Due South for a micro beer, and that was great motivation to keep moving :)

Me and my friend loved Snook Islands Natural Area and we plan to go back again this weekend. The sunrise was absolutely beautiful and we got to see lots of interesting shorebirds and some wading birds. What stood out was the American Oystercatcher and my first sighting of a reddish egret on the east coast. I read that this area also attracts black skimmers and manatees. Always plan to go during low tide so that you can see more. There aren't bathrooms on the premises, but there are some near by.

We drive through the Snook Islands area on the boat pretty often. It is a nice little nature spot with fishing wharf and boardwalks. Pretty shallow in the waters so we cant get too close on our 27' boat. Good for paddleboards and smaller fishing boats. Just another beautiful spot to check out in South Florida.

Thanks to Palm Beach Co and Lake Worth these charming little islands have been created to naturalize and improve water quality. There is a nice boardwalk, educational signs, a kayak put in and kayak trails. Good bird watching from the little gazebo at the end of the boardwalk. A friend told me he saw a manatee here. I love walking out there on the way to the Saturday Farmers Market just to check out nature
