Bok Tower Gardens was gifted to the American people in 1929. Built on one of the highest hills in Florida it is definitely worth seeing. The story of the founder, his vision & execution are so interesting. The visitor center has a great collection of exhibits to view before touring the gardens. We walked the entire trail about 2.5 miles. The grounds are so beautiful & peaceful. The easy fairly level trail is bordered by lush flora & fauna with plenty of shading. There were some plants we had never seen before but thankfully signs were posted with descriptions. The window by the pond was so serene. We saw a few birds & butterflies along the way toward the Mansion & Tower. The mansion was closed due to Covid however the grounds are worth a look. The highlight of the tour is the Tower. 205 feet tall constructed with pink marble & coquina. Intricately adorned with carvings, iron & mosaics. Gorgeous. The tower is bordered by water with fish. Every hour the 60 bell Carillon plays a short melody. The grounds behind the tower have great views, nice grassy areas & oak trees. Many families were picnicking there. We arrived at opening 9am on a Friday. Nice time to visit as we had the visitor center to ourselves. Upon exiting the visitor center across the courtyard is a cafe & gift shop. The entry was $15 per person.

Perfect temperature for a perfect day that made laid back a wonderful thing. The place was blooming all around. The house was closed. Great for social distancing the gardens were safe.

If you haven’t been to Bok Tower recently, our visit today was great! We last visited 9 years ago. The first section we visited was the Children’s Garden...for kids of all ages. Lots of hands on learning opportunities with the song 🎶 tree area, a birds nest, fairy houses, spider web for climbing and so much more. Wonderful leisurely walking, lots of places to sit in shade or sun. Very nice visitor Center as well. Arrived at 10:30AM and stayed for the carillon concert at 1PM, which lasted a bit longer than 30 minutes.

My wife and I spent several enjoyable hours strolling through the gardens at Bok Tower. The walkways and paths are well-maintained, and the plants are varied and healthy. The Blue Palmetto Cafe at the visitor center offers tasty sandwiches and salads.
