After reading reviews on this and other sites, I called to see if I could get a tour the same day. I knew it was a long shot, but was able grab a spot for our party of three.
The trip was great and the captain of our tour, Flame, was as good as everyone had said in the posts that I read prior to booking. It seems everyone involved with the operation has spent their lives in the area, so I don't think you can go wrong with any of their captains. They know right were to find all the wildlife you hope to see and tell you other interesting facts about the region. They are not guessing where to go to find the wildlife. They are visiting the locations multiple times per day, so there is not much guess work, which makes the trip really great. They even know where to find baby gators.
Flame was really kind to our 6 year-old, putting him right up front and letting him "drive" the boat once we parked at the dock.
In addition to being a great tour, they charge a fair price for their services, which is not true of some of the other options I looked into. They even take a picture of your tour group which they print on site and email to you for free.
You won't be disappointed.

Our daughter came to visit my wife and me in Frostproof and our RV Community had a flyer for Alligator Cove and others recommended Alligator Cove. We were not disappointed. Captain Flame gave us a great Gator Tour. We no sooner started out and he found one right away. He gave us a great explanation of the area prior to entering the river, including the Cypress Trees. Once we got out onto the river, we took off in that powerful 454 HP Airboat. He took us all around viewing the wonderful surrounding sites, pointing out gators and even a baby gator moving about in the marsh. My wife was so happy with the tour that at one point she said she had tears in her eyes. We saw all types of Florida wildlife as well. They took a picture of us prior to take off and sent it to us via email and handed us a photo in a nice border.

Found this excursion/tour on Google and so glad we did! Cpt. Flame is very chill and knows the waters like the back of his hand. He was friendly and accommodating which made the airboat ride relaxing. We were able to spot a couple baby gators and a very large one as well. Plenty of bald eagles were perched high in the trees and even wild cows roaming the wetlands. I highly recommend this tour. This is a no frills kind of tour. It does not have all that touristy stuff that is with many of these places, no gift shop, just feels like coming to a campground and hoping on an airboat with friends. Definitely great value, even includes a souvenir photo of us (one per couple) which is almost never included in excursions. Small groups up to 6 people can fit on the airboat which is one of the reasons why we chose Alligator Cove for a private type feel. Cpt. Dave & Cpt. Flame we great and if you are in the area, please take the time to book a tour as you will not be disappointed. It is a little off the beaten path, but for me, it's always better that way. Thanks guys for a good time!

I really enjoyed our air boat ride! Arrival was 30 minutes before our boat ride. Our boat left at the scheduled time. We were given life vests and ear protection for our ride. Our guide was Captain Darald. He was so knowledgeable about the flora and wildlife we observed. He told us great stories along with some awesome facts about the area, flora, and wildlife as we rode the waterway. He was very personable and so funny. I learned so much and it was an unforgettable trip. It was exciting to see alligators in there natural habitat and all of the amazing birds. The ride itself was exciting. The beauty of the Kissimmee River/lake was surreal in itself. I definitely recommend Alligator Cove if you want to experience nature and excitement all in one.

This was all around fun. I was scared, but our guide put me at ease. He was observant and made it a group activity. Cpt. Darald talked about plants, birds, turtles, and cows! He stopped to talk away from wildlife, would coast past them and give opportunity to take pics. He did not believe in harassing animals for pics. We got plenty of pics of everything we wanted. If you want fun, knowledge, and customer service ride with this place.

My wife, my mom and my three children ages 2,5 & 7 all absolutely loved it. Not only were the children excited about a boat ride but a “flying” boat with a giant loud engine! When we went full throttle they screamed with excitement as the wind whipped their hair into a straight back frenzy. We saw big alligators, small alligators and even baby alligators. Loads of cool water walking and flying birds in white and iridescent purples, turtles, fish and beautiful water flowers. Captain Darald was so kind and such a great captain. He pointed out lots of animals and plants. He engaged with the children and they adored him. He helped my mother a Master Craftsman Professional photographer get in position for great photos. We would love to do this again and highly recommend it.

Great tour with Captain Darald! He's an old pro who knows all the alligators' homes and knocks at their doors. Extremely knowledgeable about the marsh land and it's flora and fauna. Ask him how alligators eat and digest, how eagles mate, and how Florida marsh land supplied cows for North America. He's got the answers (with a large dose of humor). Plenty of time to stop for photos of gators and herons and eagles ... and a free group photo too! Highly recommended!!

Alligator Cove was just what we wanted! The weather was great, and our tour guide (Flame) was very knowledgeable and has been on the waters there his whole life. We did not see too many alligator but even still the water and nature is beautiful and the ride is fun with the wind blowing in your hair!
I recommend going in the morning as they said when its cooler you are likely to see more gators. Defiantly bring sunglasses and sunscreen!
It is easy to find this place at Camp Mack across the street from a trailer retainment community. Very peaceful place.

I am from out of state going to college here, and came to Alligator Cove with my parents. We had a great time! Captain Darald was a great captain who gave us lots of history and background of the different parts of nature we were seeing, while still giving us the thrill of the airboat experience. We saw many different kinds of wildlife, and he was very courteous to it all. He took us to see about 10 different gators! The people were friendly and hospitable, and I would recommend this experience to anyone!

Hi
What is the best time of day to do the air boat
Written September 8, 2016
We were there in late June when it's extremely hot. Wildlife is always more active when it's cooler so I'd take the morning slot if available. It's still very hot in central Florida this month.
Written September 13, 2016
current cost & times. reservations required? what about inclement weather the day of......wet, windy, cold or all three.
Written January 14, 2016
Was $50 per person a month ago. They do require reservations. I would assume if you made the reservation way in advance it could be cancelled if the weather was bad on the day you were actually going. Seems like a flexible company that wants to keep the customer happy. At least that's the way I felt.

is the ride safe for children under 5?
Written December 18, 2015
Hi. Yes This airboat ride is very smooth and safe for all ages. We frequently take families with young children. Everyone on board is required to wear eye protection and life jackets. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
