Very professional and helpful crew, safety is priority. Divemaster accompanies every dive group. Office hours are not standard, so you leave message for reservations. Since dives are usually deep, for maximum enjoyment and safety I recommend Nitrox (if you are certified).

these guys are very in tune with your safety and they are very customer oriented. we had 2 great dives. on my first dive, my BCD inflator became jammed and I had to surface. within 10 minutes, the captain had it fixed and placed me back with the other divers. the crew and dive master were fun to be with. I will go with them again the next time I want to drift dive the gulf stream.

We were on a mission to seek out lionfish. Happily (and sadly when considering our mission), we only found a few of these destructive predators in the spots the captain picked out. Saw the famous goliath grouper of the area, sharks (not baited), and gorgeous angelfish.

Every single employee was incredibly friendly and professional from the divemasters at the shop when sizing and renting gear, divemasters on the boat, boat captain, and everyone in between. It's nice to be pampered with people moving and loading all your heavy dive gear. All briefings encompassed the infomation I wanted to know (emergency boat equipment, boat procedures, site info, etc). It was a pretty full boat but there was enough room to get around. 1 O2 analyzer to go around for nitrox. Crew was fast to hand out sodas and fruit in-between dives. Water was self serve and always availiable. The crew filled a big basin by the dock should you want to rinse your gear before putting it in your car.

The one nitpicky negative was I wanted to rent a dive computer but there weren't enough on-board to go around. But that's not Deep Obsession's fault. And old school dive methods worked fine.

I had a great time and would certainly go out with them again.

I have been a certified PADI diver since 1985 and Dive Master since 1999. My dive buddy and I have dove on previous trips to Florida with Ryan on Deep Obsession and had good experiences. I spoke to Ryan after Irma and booked three days of Goliath Grouper/Shark dives between 9/17-9/21 after confirming that they were good to go barring bad weather.

Each day we received a confirming e-mail that were going and confirmed. A few hours later, we received a cancellation e-mail due to "not enough divers" and that their cancellation policy "is stated in every confirmation". I read the fine print and yes this is Ryan and Amber's terms and conditions. "All charters require a minimum of 6 guests to guarantee the charter will go."

I have dove practically everywhere in the world, but never experienced cancellations due to not enough divers. We flew down from NY and PA to only dive with Deep Obsessions, paid for two air fares, a condo rental, rental car, meals, etc. We lost over $1800.00.

To me, as a retired Hotelier, this fine print disclaimer is poor business policy at best. We never heard from Ryan about our loss and Amber offered a discount on future dives. My advice to Ryan, Amber, and Deep Obsessions is to highlight/bold or verbalize their policy of "not enough divers cancellation policy". In our case, a verbal BTW we may not go on the 3 booked days would have given us the opportunity to not dive with them, avoid the time and expense of our travel, or delay the trip until normal conditions existed.

I did a two tank dive with Deep Obsession. The staff at the shop were super friendly and organised. However, once we got to the boat, things started to get disorganised - they forgot to load the tanks I had rented. The briefing was well, brief, and the guides did not ensure that everyone was present for it. The dives were fine - we saw massive goliath groupers, sharks and turtles, but for what's meant to be a guided dive, I was surprised that the dive guides made no real attempt to keep the group together. This meant that when we surfaced, the boat had to locate all the divers who had drifted off - most of whom did not deploy an SMB.

I did like the dives, and the dive guides and crew were friendly and easy to talk to, but think they need to be more organised in their operations to really hit the mark.

After Jim Abernethy cancelled my week Liveaboard I was directed to Deep O for baited shark diving. Sadly, it was a week from hell weather-wise, and most of the day trips (here and elsewhere) were cancelled. However, Amber bent over backwards to get me out there, and I learnt a few things:
1. The diving conditions are fine post Irma. Some of my planned trips were lost due to lack of divers, staying away after the hurricane.
2. Blue Heron Bridge is a great spot. I only realised this on my last day (thanks Tony!), after wasting a lot of effort trying to get out to the Gulf Stream. Get there an hour before high tide (this is essential!) and you will have an hour-plus with varied marine life and lots of cool small critters.
3. The Narcosis boat usually goes out when others stay in. They have a great crew, but I was alarmed about the motive for most of the divers: catching and killing lobsters. Really took away from the diving for me.

Brought a group of drivers down to do some training. This group is always first class. The boat is a bit older and a little slow but couldn't ask for a better choice. Crew was very knowledgeable about the dive sites and willing to help in anyway possible. Easy-going and very flexible to different dive sites. I was able to teach my students without any hiccups. Thank you so much for everything!

I had a full week of diving planned at different charters in south Florida, and I cancelled the rest of the week to continue diving with this charter! Everything you could want in a dive charter! The people are so friendly and they really care about you having a good time and being safe! They are so passionate about what they do and make surface intervals just as fun as the diving!

The baited shark dives are truly amazing and is something you MUST experience if you are passionate about sharks! The dives that are not centered around sharks are just as fun and the crew makes sure to go to sites that are conducive to what you want to do (lobster or lionfish hunt).

Seriously this charter is the best in the area! I have been diving with many charters in south Florida and Deep Obsession is by far the best!

Whether you're looking to dive with sharks or just do some "sight seeing", this dive operation is top notch! Ryan and his crew are all extremely knowledgeable about each of the dive sites, as well as the variety marine life you'll almost certainly encounter. They'll take care of your diving needs on the boat as well as in the water.

I also suggest following them on Facebook where they do frequent live broadcasts from The Deep Obsession summarizing the day's dives.

These guys are awesome. Period. They are fun and knowledgeable. Saw so many sharks that we had to push them away. Can't wait to go again.
