We’ve done several charters in the area and this one was by far the best! They were great about getting us in last minute (called at 10:30am and they got us on a noon charter). Chuck was awesome, we told him we liked fighting the big stuff but didn’t want to wait around all day for them, so he knew exactly where to take us and we stayed busy the entire time fighting 5’-6’ black tip sharks and bringing in mangrove snapper and spanish mackerel. Boat and gear were in great shape, Chuck really knows his stuff and took care of us giving advice but not being overbearing/bossy like some charters can be. And he didn’t smoke which was awesome. From what we could see Sweet E’nuf has at least a couple boats and a few different captains that go out, everyone was nice but I highly recommend requesting Chuck!

We were interested in stocking our fridge with fresh fish for our week in Marathon. Lucky for us Captain Dave had someone reschedule just prior to us calling so he was available. We told him we wanted some yellowtail to which he said we'd have to leave the dock at 7am. His mate Christian met us with a smile and the boat ready to go at 6:50 Captain Dave's plan worked as we caught more than enough yellowtail before the sun got too high and slowed the bight. Then we were off to a few wrecks. We didn't linger if the bight wasn't at a location. We did find a nice assortment of fish, many spectacular, using a variety of techniques! Christian kept us rigged and baited and the boat spotless. A fabulous extra was Caprain Dave's knowledge of preparing the catch for the table. His fillets were immaculate. Thank you Captain Dave and mate Christian for a memorable day on the water and a delicious week!

My husband and I contacted Captain Dave to take us out for a 1/2 day fishing trip. We were super impressed with the cleanliness of his boat, his professionalism, and his knowledge of fishing in the area. With the aid of Captain Dave and Destin, we caught several fish, and had a wonderful time out on the water. When we got back to the dock, our fish were cleaned for us and Dave even recommended a local restaurant, Castaway, where we took the fish to be cooked. They were delicious! We highly recommend Captain Dave if you’re in the area looking for a fun fishing excursion.

I don’t often post reviews, but I made my decision based off these positive reviews and our family could not have had a worse experience. This wasn’t our first trip fishing, and it’s not negative because no fish were caught, but that was disappointing. I would not recommend!

I booked an offshore full day trip emphasizing wanting to catch fish for eating, not sailfish for sporting. Captain Dave said certain fish may not be biting and they could come in for wreck if morning wasn’t successful. That sounded great. It was booked to go with Captain Chuck, whom Captain Dave emphasized was great and experienced.

Captain Chuck was not set up for anything we booked the charter for. My husband mentioned that the plan was to try wreck and Captain Chuck had no clue that was the plan. They wasted time having to turn around to get two (yes, only two) rods to wreck fish.- There wasn’t a deckhand! Lines constantly tangled because it was only the Captain. My family had to help steer the boat to keep it straight. Captain Chuck was a nice guy but lacked the knowledge and equipment to have a fun or successful time.
I communicated with Captain Dave about the experience prior to this post. I expressed the disappointment with the lack communication he provided to the captain of his other boat. He offered a partial refund to pick up the next day as long as I didn’t post an honest, poor review. When my husband went to pick up the refund, he refused.
It’s always a toss up if fish are caught, but a lack of appropriate gear and a deckhand to help run the lines should be provided for the services advertised and the cost to go. Save your $1200 and go elsewhere.

For someone who doesn’t leave reviews they left one on every social media that’s out there. For those of you that read this review ignore it, it’s just a bunch of lies. They just wanted to try and get a refund for bad day fishing. It happens, can’t make the fish bite. Capt Chuck is a great captain and they had fish on they just lost them. I’ve been in business for 14 years for myself with no mate, they did everything they asked for, offshore which i discouraged by they were adamant on doing it so they wasted most of their trip live baiting for tuna and sails. Then they went to the wrecks and hooked ten fish and only landed one. They should have taken my advise and go reef fishing where we have been getting out limits of snapper every day. I hope that you all can read between the lines and see what a farce this bad review is.

The attitude of Captain Dave was very disappointing. We paid for the charter, yet he was barking orders at us the whole trip. He did not treat us with respect nor courtesy. We told him we didn’t have experience offshore fishing, and we had a 13 yr-old and an 83 yr-old in our group. None of us had been on this kind of fishing charter before, yet rather than explaining what we should be doing and how, he would harshly tell us what to do like we should have already known. We understand he had a goal of catching the most fish for us, but he should have focused more on us enjoying the experience. He also did a hard sell on the tip after the charter. Not only did he push us to tip more than we initially did, but was insulting and acted like we should have known better.
On the other hand Chris was great. He was working every second of the trip, helped us when we needed it and explained what to do.
We would not recommend this charter unless you’re whole group is already experienced at offshore fishing.

We decided to do a last minute shark fishing charter on 01/06/2021. After talking to several charters, we decided on Capt. Dave Schugar with Sweet E’Nuf Charter. From the beginning we could tell we picked the right guy, Capt. Dave was very laid backed but professional, asking what our expectations were and whether we wanted a few big sharks or a lot of little ones. We chose more action with the little ones. I’m not sure how big the “big ones” would be because the sharks he put us on were plenty big! We caught sharks from 20 lbs to 200 lbs, with the majority between 60-120 lbs. We caught 12 sharks while fishing a total of 3 hours, Capt. Dave said it was slow due to the cold. This may not seem like a lot but when it took up to 18 minutes to reel in one shark, it was steady fishing. Fishing with Capt. Dave felt like fishing with a buddy. In between catches we listened to good music and carried on conversations. He answered a multitude of questions from our inquisitive group. We had such a great time we were trying to figure out if we could fit another charter in during our vacation. Unfortunately we couldn’t but we will definitely book one the next time down.

My boyfriend and I had a fabulous day with both Captain Dave and Captain Chuck on a full day offshore fishing adventure. The weather forecast changed four times since we booked the trip but Dave kept us updated via text (that’s how we chose to communicate with him) on our options for fishing based upon the changing weather.

The day of our trip the wind was blowing from the North (16+mph), I had never gone offshore fishing before and I was a bit apprehensive but immediately upon meeting both Dave and Chuck and expressing my concerns I felt very comfortable and confident that they would not take us into an unnerving situation.

We had a great day! I survived the wind and waves, and caught plenty of fish. We did not catch anything offshore but we were not disappointed at all. We caught our limit nearshore and now have many month’s worth of fish to take home.

Super patient guys and great conversationalists.

Thanks to Dave and Christian! Their experience and knowledge was of great use in catching a 32lbs African Pompano. We all had a great time out fishing. Taking turns, everyone getting something to pull up on. Learned not to use the "S" word out on the water... "Shark". Thanks guys for a wonderful day.

We had such a great time last year, we came back to shark fish again. We had even a better time this year. We caught 16 medium size sharks and they all had plenty of fight to them. I would recommend Capt Dave to anyone. As we were on the boat, 2 other previous clients called Capt Dave to book a trip. With all his repeat business, Capt Dave is obviously doing it right! See you next year Capt Dave!

Great family trip out on the water with Capt. Dave and his mate Steve! Got our young boys on a ton of fish early and then we hit a wreck to get us hooked on some bigger fish! Highly recommend Capt. Dave whether you're an experienced angler or a beginner like my boys!
