    Turtle Tourism with a Heart!
If you like turtles, conservation, and actually helping a cause with your money, then this will be worth your investment. The tour is informative, the right length, and you get to see several different species of sea turtles. Highly recommend for anyone with kids crazy about marine life and making a difference.

We Need Additional Locations of The Turtle Hospital
I retired last month from a career in education that included teaching marine biology and environmental science so it makes sense that I would have a visit to this facility high on my "to do list". It did NOT disappoint, it was everything I had expected it to be! What a great opportunity to share with the public the problems humans cause other creatures that we share our waters with. Hopefully through education it will cause a ripple effect in spreading the word and preventing some of these issues. I would encourage everyone as they travel through the area to make this a MUST STOP two hour visit during their stay in The Keys. Notice the attached photo of this year's patient list and where they came from. Sea turtles nest and travel well beyond this immediate area and there are probably only about a half dozen facilities that do the same type of work. Consider making donations beyond your tour fee to support these efforts.

    Well worth a visit
Very educational! Melissa was great! Very knowledgeable! They really make good use of their resources and property to try and save every turtle they can. I am a Floridian and thought I knew all the dangers the turtles were up against but I didn’t. My teenagers even asked if they could come back and work there next summer.

    Incredible!
Incredible place! The tour for 90mins (which must be booked in advance) was fab, so much knowledge and great to see the work done here. Do not miss this place with or without children! So worth the money and time.

    A fascinating guided tour
This turtle hospital is funded by people visiting and is a superb stop to learn more about these fascinating creatures. You need to book on one of the guided tours before arrival to ensure availability. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and take about an hour and a half to show you round. About 50+ turtles on site in various stages of their life and rehabilitation.

    Fascinating and very educational
They run guided tours every hour or so and each tour lasts 90 minutes. Our guide (Mackenzie) was great (as I’m sure they all are) and was very knowledgeable on all aspects. Great way to spend a couple of hours.

    Highly recommend!
We loved this place! Everyone was so knowledgeable and you can tell they care deeply for these the turtles they rescue. Our tour guide was Brooke and she was awesome! My mom was handicap and she was very accommodating to her disabilities in our tour. It was sooooo hot the day we were there but they offered ice cold waters and lots of shade. Wish we could have made the release party while we were there. This place really is amazing!

Excellent experience and learned so much! Sharon our guide was knowledge and passionate about educating on this endangered species. The facility and work is so impressive. Would recommend booking online or calling to reserve a spot in advance-tours seemed to be booked.

This has to beone of the best experiences anyone can have. You don't have to be a turtle lover when you go in but you will be when you leave and more importantly you will have a deeper understanding of the damage we are doing to our waterways and how plastics in particular are killing sea turtle life. Our ten year old grandson loved the tour from beginning to end of the 90 minute tour it flew by in no time (you need every bit of the 2 hours but not 3). In fact he left the Turtle Hospital quoting Tammy (our guide) the rest of the car ride down to Kew West. Speaking of Tammy-wow! She is entertaining, knowledgeable and informative. Tammy kept the audience, young and old alike, riveted to their seats while we watched a intoductory video in a well cooled room. Tammy answered questions from the audience with much patience.
Most Important-Make a reservation in advance-this place books up very quickly because it is that good. so my advice is book it in advance!

Reservations are required to limit group sizes. The staff is very helpful, considerate and knowledgeable. We had seniors down to teenagers and everyone enjoyed their visit. They even helped Grandma get around on the tour, it’s not a lot of walking but enough that they really helped her feel comfortable.

My fiancé and I came here as a unique outing to get away from the busyness that is Key West. The experience was wonderful and so informative. The tours are offered hourly (they last about an hr and half) and with a 38 person max per group. Although there were young children there and a few babies, it seemed smarter to bring older children as it was an hour and a half of education. We did see far more turtles than I anticipated and feeding them at the end was entertaining. The tour guide was very informative and was able to easily keep everyone entertained. Highly recommend, especially if you are an animal lover.

We visited The Turtle Hospital after searching for things to do on a rainy day in the Keys. What a neat place! Your visit requires a reservation for the guided tour, so call early; otherwise you might be disappointed. Our guide, Carlie, was excellent. She first did an orientation talk for 30 minutes all about sea turtles and how the hospital treats rescued turtles. We then toured the hospital, observed rescued turtles being treated for various injuries and diseases, and finally fed some. Total tour time was 90 minutes. Take the time to visit this place and appreciate the good work they are doing!

We were able to get reservations via phone just 20 minutes before the presentation, and staff was very efficient checking us in and having us sign the consent form electronically. Our guide Marry was very knowledgeable and passionate about all the information she provided and the turtles themselves, explaining the work the hospital is doing with the turtles, with the ultimate goal to release them back into nature, IF they are healthy enough that they should be able to survive. If they are not able to be released, they make sure the turtles will be well taken care either there or in a zoo. Marry wore a microphone, making sure everyone could hear. The group also only had 22 participants, making it easier to have some social distancing.

this turtle hospital is awesome, you'll learn much about sea turtles and diseases that affect them and why the turtle in this place cannot go back to the ocean, The fee per adult is $27 but it goes back to support this hospital. please make appointment if you have a party more of five people, they give a tour every hour.
They'll do so much for this turtles her that 27 dollars seems nothing for the great cause. you get to see a lot of them and feed them.

We had a tour with Sharon. Because Tropical Storm Eta was coming in later that evening, the tour was just my boyfriend and I. Sharon was so sweet, funny and passionate! She taught us so much about turtles, and you can tell she really loves each of them. She took time tell us each of the turtles’ stories, point out aspects that we would have missed, and just was so cute when talking about them. The tour was totally worth the price! Especially knowing that the money goes towards the hospital’s rescuing, ER/operating and rehabilitation needs. It was the perfect length, with up close interaction with the turtles (ie not behind glass like at a zoo or aquarium).

Awesome little program at the Turtle Hospital in Marathon. This is a real turtle hospital and we even saw a turtle name Pistachio being operated on. He did wonderful and it was amazing to hear the background stories of each turtle as to why they were there. The educator Sara was very knowledgeable and answered any questions you had above and beyond the presentation. Highly recommend this program - lasted about 1 1/2 hours and water is provided which was great on a hot day.

Today, we rented a car in Key West and drove an hour to visit our adopted sea turtle, Bender, at The Turtle Hospital in Marathon. We started in the extensive gift shop and bought all of our souvenirs and gifts for our dog sitters back home. All of the proceeds from the gift shop support the hospital, it’s rescue, rehabilitation, and research programs, and permanent resident sea turtles whose injuries prevent them from being rereleased. There, we also signed up for the $27.00 tour of the facility. The entire fee goes to support the non-profit hospital. Christine, a former teacher and most excellent tour guide, started with a short but fact-packed presentation of the different species of sea turtles, all of them threatened or endangered, and the various injuries and diseases from which they need rescuing (most caused by human carelessness or waste). Then, she introduced us to the hospital itself, where we could watch turtles being treated for their problems. Finally, Christine took us to the tanks to view the many residents of the hospital, both temporary and permanent residents. We were happy to see “our” Bender was doing very well, even though she had lost a front flipper to fishing line and a boat strike caused a permanent injury so she could not be rereleased. It costs only $35.00 a year to adopt a sea turtle at The Turtle Hospital, we get regular updates via email and letters, and it is one of our most satisfying yearly contributions.
