This is something that you should drive at least once. With both the Gulf and Atlantic Oceans on either, it is delightful as anywhere on earth. But the history of this area, with the original railroad bridge paralleling parts of it, offers a different historical perspective as well.

We were fortunate enough to live in the Lower Keys for 4 years. Going over the 7 mile bridge is beautiful at anytime but the sunsets are awesome to see. There is a parking area on the Gulf side just before the bridge heading north. My advice is to get there early as it fills up quickly. The picture was... More

What can I say it was an awesome experience with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Straits of Florida on the other. and that's for seven miles. It was one of the highlights of our journey down to Key-west. Coming back in the early evening we were in the middle of a lightning and thunder storm.Very dramatic. I... More

If you travel by land beyond Marathon you'll cross this bridge, which we've done many times over the years. If you've never made the drive from Miami to Key West, the views and scenery along the way make it a must add for your bucket list. Often, we try to appreciate all those traveling BEFORE the bridge existed as we... More

Driving over the bridge you can see amazing views of the blue and turquoise water. Very beautiful, the drive goes quick as there is no stopping on the bridge.

go just before sunset - breathtaking. Park at the restaurant across the way and walk across. We didn't stop in, but it looked like a great place to have a drink afterwards. They had live entertainment that night.

One of my favorite drives in the US. Look to the sides for marine life and boats! Sunset views while driving at night are amazing.

The bridge joins 2 keys and rises substantially at the center giving amazing views of the area and the seas. Runs alongside the original railway bridge which leads to the resort of Pigeon Key but is broken after that.

The view will take your breath away. Wear polarized sunglasses to see the true color of the water, beautiful aquamarine colors. You'll see small islands from the bridge that will make you want to rent a boat and visit them. Pigeon Key can be seen from the bridge as well.

If you had seen documentaries about the keys and the road over the sea, this is where tv becomes reality; a long, long stretch of highway over the sea, with astounding views on both sides.
