My husband and I spent a morning fishing with John, DJ and their captain. Despite it being a bit windy (this is the keys after all), my husband caught 9 keepers, including a few snappers, and I got a grunt fish (I preferred to watch most of the time). When we got back, they were sorted and cleaned (3 for $1) in no time at all. They suggested a few restaurants that would cook them for us, so we ate very fresh fish. Delicious! A great time and reasonably priced at $45, plus $5 to rent a pole, $1 if we wanted a towel. The boat holds 60, but there were about 25 of us this weekday morning, so lots of personalized attention.

We typically go out on Marathon Lady, at least once if not twice, each time we visit the Keys. This crew never disappoints! From making my reservations on the phone with Roger, to the captain and the crew, I can always count on a great experience! I have been on many fishing boats and it is rare to find group like this that consistently delivers like this group does.

The captain always works to put the guests on fish- even if he has to move the boat a few times- he does his best to make sure everyone is having fun and has the opportunity to catch fish. DJ and Jake are awesome mates! Very attentive, great with kids, and always there to help!

I would recommend this to families with kids or teens or any group of friends who like to fish! Be sure to call and make reservations since they are running at a smaller capacity due to COVID.

The crew was excellent, very attentive to everyone from kids fishing for the first time to more seasoned anglers. DJ and Jake did a terrific job making sure everyone had an enjoyable experience. They were quick and highly skilled with the fillet knives once we returned to dock. $50 for a fresh snapper dinner and a half day on a boat - you can't beat it!!!

Bring a puke bag. 3 out of the 4 people in our party got sick within 30 min of arriving to the fishing area (note, we’ve never experienced motion sickness issues). There were at least 3 others experiencing this as well. I’m not sure if the waves were larger than normal but it was an awful experience to have to sit on the boat, vomit in front of strangers multiple times and then wait for the time to pass so we could be done (and yes we took dramamein prior to departure). I never even casted my fishing pole once so this was a waste of $200+ for our family. It pretty much ruined the day, although no fault to the crew. The crew was very helpful and attentive to those catching fish though so I would recommend it to anyone that doesn’t get sick easily.

My wife and I went out for half a day on the morning of July 4, 2020. There were 2 mates, one of them catered to the majority of the people on the boat, and did a very nice job doing so. He seemed genuinely committed in making sure everyone had what they needed to for catching fish. If he saw other’s catching fish, and someone else wasn’t, he would spend more time with them making sure they caught something.
The captain also spent a great deal of time on the deck, (which is highly unusual) assisting passengers. You couldn’t ask for better service from these two gentlemen. When the captain wasn’t on deck baiting and taking fish off hooks, he was in the cabin moving the boat whenever fishing slowed down.
The other mate (Evan, I think was his name) was only interested in a small group of 8–10 people- his mom, siblings, and other family members, who pretty much acted as if this was their boat, and showed no respect for the other passengers. The group had obviously started drinking alcohol prior to the 9:30 am departure time. I’m not judging, what people do with their lives is their business, but they respected no one and were obnoxious.
As far as the fishing is concerned, the captain put us on the fish as advertised, and if things started slowing down, he would move to another location. On the downside, the fish were tiny, every fish caught was small, which was disappointing. Having said that, the captain and crew are not responsible for the size of the fish, in fact, they WANT you to catch bigger fish so you can enjoy yourself enough to come back, and also share your experience with others.
Had it been a full day trip, I’m positive the captain would have taken us to deeper water where the fish are larger. I will say that even though the fish were small, and the fact that Evan and his family took some of the joy away from the experience, my wife and I did book another trip for the next available night, and would HIGLY recommend this boat.

Don't waste your money on this, they take people to places with only rat-size grunts. I caught a red grouper (the only one in the boat) and one of the crew took it of the hook, threw it in the water. This grouper was borderline, shouldn't he had measure it, or at least let me take a f..ing picture of it? They passed around a tip jar at the end, I said I had no money; I should have said something else, but it wouldn't have made a difference. Stay away from this party boat, go fishing in the bridge!

Besides Ryan, the crew is very rude. Jake and the older guy are the pits to say the least. You spend most of your time moving. Fishing time may average out 2 and half hours. The fishing stops at 10:50 -11 pm

Boat spends most of the trip driving from spot to spot; might have really fished 1 hour total in a 4 hour trip. . The largest fish caught on the entire boat was a 10” mangrove (can catch these anywhere). When customers start catching fish, the captain starts the boat to move. Do not waste your time or money on this charter. Get a private boat captain with someone that really wants to put fish in the boat. This is a boarderline scam.

We are first timers in the keys. We stayed in Marathon for a few days. Before arriving I asked a Marathon facebook group for recommendations for a public fishing charter. We fish where we live in WI but have never fished the ocean before. Several people recommended Marathon Lady. Todd and Garrett were great deck hands. They wanted to make sure you caught fish and did there best to help you (they know there stuff and you are in great hands)! If something happened to your pole or line they were right there to help! To our surprise we caught around seven fish and for a very very small fee they also fileted them for us. We took them back to our hotel restaurant and had them cook them for us. The experience was priceless and I would 100% recommend this company and when we visit again, we will be back!

We just had a great time on the Marathon Lady this afternoon. Caught a ton of fish and witnessed some more experienced anglers catch a few really big ones. Staff was terrific. Boat was comfy. The level of service and experience were perfect value for the very reasonable cost.
