We booked a kayak trip for four thru Bob at Keys Kayak. Friendly older gentleman, paired us up with Alex as our guide. We launched from Bob's home instead of a public beach as covid had the beaches all closed. Had a really nice time on the water. It was not a mangrove tour but we did paddle along side of them after we got across the water to some small keys. Saw sea stars, portuguese man o wars, and had a short beach stop at a sand bar in the middle of nowhere. Can't beat that. Alex was a good tour guide, personable, made sure our kids could see the sea life after she found it. We'd do it again.....

I was really hesitant to take a 3 hour kayak ride with my teenage kids. We are complete beginners, and it seemed too long. Plus, we signed up for the afternoon ride and it was getting hot. I talked with Bob about renting for an hour, but he was persuasive enought to get us out for the tour. It was the right call- thanks, Bob!! And also thanks to Meade our tour guide. Lots of stories, facts, and anecdotes along the way. Experience does help, that is for sure. Going through the mangrove requires some dexterity or you will find yourself on the bottom of the lake. It's a good challenge in a few places and relaxing in others. The trip out to the mangroves takes about 30-40 minutes or so along with the trip back. The rest of the time is spent in lakes free paddling and in mangrove trails. Don't take your phone if it's not waterproof! 4 out of the 7 people in our group went overboard. It cost us about $160 for 3 people which I thought was a ripoff- for Keys Kayaks! I would have paid more!! Great job guys!

My wife and i went in a two person kayak through the mangroves with another couple. There was a bit of rain but we went out. Leave anything you want in your car or give to your guide to keep in his vehicle. We saw a group of manatees right next to us kayaked with them for a ways. Such a cool experience. The mangroves were great as well. We dumped the kayak in the mangroves in deep water The guide was extremely helpful in showing us how to get back in the kayak without having to float out. Loved it would do it again. He promptly sent all of the pics taken to google photos.

Keys Kayaks was recommended to us by a bicycle rental company. We wanted to have kayaks delivered to Sombrero Beach so we could explore the mangroves at Boot Key. They showed up exactly at the time discussed, off loaded our two kayaks, made sure we knew how to use the equipment and left us to explore on our own. We were delighted. the equipment was well cared for, clean and in good operational condition. We spent almost 3 hours on the kayaks slowly exploring Boot Key. We brought the kayaks back to the beach and relaxed for a bit before taking them out again for a short paddle. We texted them when we were ready to return the kayaks, took a picture to show where we had left them and they came, again, right on time to pick them up. The price was extremely reasonable. We would highly recommend this company for your next kayak adventure in Marathon!!
