We simply booked a snorkel trip and had never heard of Sombrero Reef. It was a beautiful morning and nice ride out to the reef. When we jumped in we were blown away. The tremendous number of different fish swimming right up to you was amazing. We saw barracuda, parrot fish, a shark a numerous different schools right above the... More

Wonderful adventure that is not a far trip from Marathon. We saw all kinds of fish and one nurse shark. I saw a stingray too!

The winds make a big difference in the ability to go to the reef and lighthouse. The seas were coming over the front of the boat the day we tried. On calm days there are pylons to tie up to so you can snorkel and see so many types of marine life - maybe even a barracuda. they have lots... More

Our family spent an afternoon snorkeling at Sombrero Reef. There were a couple of other groups there, but we saw plenty of fish.

Sombrero reef was a solid snorkel spot. We've been to Pennekamp, Key West areas, Donut, Chica Rocks, and Dry Tortugas and this place was 2nd only to DT. We were also happy with the morning trip with Spirit.

They have buoys that you tie off to do as not to damage the reef, and if they are all taken, just make a new friend and tie off... More
