SeaSquared Charters will provide you your family or group a fun productive time on the water in the fabulous Florida Keys! The SeaSquared boats are conveniently located in Marathon and are docked near the world famous Seven Mile Bridge. Our anglers catch snapper, grouper, dolphin (mahi mahi), tuna, wahoo, cobia, mackerel, sailfish, tarpon, shark & more. We specialize in Florida Keys Shark Adventures (100% catch and release sportfishing for big sharks) and Marathon Family Fishing Adventures. Experienced and novice anglers are all welcome. We love showing newcomers the beauty of our coral reef and teaching them how to have success catching the wide variety of fish species we have here. We booked a half-day charter with Captain Wayne on Wayne's World and First Mate Ricky. They were attentive to our needs and reviewed our expectations for the trip which was to get out with the kids and catch as many fish as possible, so quantity over quality. They put us on the fish and during our 4 hour trip we boated around 50 fish and kept our limit of 20.
Wayne and Ricky were great with the kids, answering all their questions and patient with their excitement. They took the time to teach us about all the different types of fish we caught, the area of the Keys we were fishing in and local wildlife. Our time with them was a highlight of our trip!

First let me start by saying my wife, kids (12 &10) and I are not at all a family that goes fishing on even an occasional basis. When we started planning our trip to the Keys we thought doing a fishing trip would be a new, fun activity for us to try. We found SeaSquared and what set them apart initially was they offered a “family fun day” trip which combined fishing and snorkeling (which we do a lot of). The communication before we booked as we called and asked a lot of questions about the trip, and the communication between reservation and trip were equally good.
The family fun day trip is about 4 hours and is fishing for as long as you’d like and then snorkeling. We got to the dock at 7:35, we’re on the boat as of 7:40 and fishing a little after 8:15 after going out the fishing area. By 8:20 we had our first bite and by 9:45 we had caught more than 20 mangrove snapper. Once we had enough fun fishing we went to a sandbar to hop in the water to swim/snorkel. I should note on the way we saw a few pods of dolphins jumping near, like within 10 feet, of the boat. At the sandbar we swam with many varieties of fish, saw a huge starfish and also a giant stingray swimming around. We did that until around 11:30 then started back to the Marina.
When we got back our fish were filleted for us and we took them to Lazy Days South where they cooked the fish up for us - which the Captain recommended and we were SO glad he did.
All of this was amazing but what made it the great excursion it was , was Captain Jason. He was spectacularly patient with us all, but specifically our kids. He baited every hook, untangled every line, and helped get the fish in the boat every single time and genuinely seemed to enjoy himself as much as we did. Beyond that he was very informative about the area and gave us great tips and ideas for what to do while in the Keys while also answering every question we had about the area.
We were a little reluctant to do this trip but after going I could not offer higher praise or a recommendation of this company, excursion and Captain.
If you are at all hesitant, don’t be...this trip is worth every penny!

My wife, 15 year old son and I took a Shark fishing charter with Captain Scott Reid on the morning of Thanksgiving and had a blast! Captain Scott was well prepared and ready to go when we hit the dock early. He was good fun to spend the morning with, was knowledgeable and very helpful getting us hooked up on plenty of good sized sharks. He never tired of our constant questions and was a great coach during the trip. We took a second trip on Saturday and had even more success landing 14 plus Sharks and broke off on a few monsters. You could see Scott had as much fun as we did and that this was more than a job for a good guy. We felt like we made a new friend for life that we’ll be looking up next time we’re down in the keys. SeaSquared Charters, you hired a good man there. He’ll bring you repeat customers for sure. Thanks Captain Scott this ex-pat family from England had an awesome time both days. Lots of great memories to last a life time................

Captain Zach of Reel Adventures was a terrific guide. Booking w/ Seasquared was done professionally and good communication responding to questions. Zach was very informative. Boat was a bit small but enough room for our family of 5. Zach was a bit stern at times but after a while I realized it was for good reason. He was working hard to keep us safe and catch fish! He helped us catch 15 good size snapper which were great eating on our stay in Marathon. He also helped us catch two large sharks which were a blast to pull up to the boat. We were all able to touch the shark and see it up close and personal on the side of the boat. Time flew by. We had a blast. Thanks Zach and best of luck to you with your fishing business!

Fished with Jason on March 15 and brought in a limit of snapper, some trout and even caught a few unexpected "friends". Excellent trip, Jason is very patient (didn't even bat an eye at a few of my wife's bird nests) and extremely hard working. Turns out we had enough food for 4 meals (5 of us). If corona virus ever lets up, we will be back to fish with SeaSquared again!

Rough winds and definitely not the best day to fish, but have to give it to captain Zach and improvising and finding the fish despite it being too rough for reef. We had a great time fishing with him and he did a great job teaching my family how to do it. I highly recommend this charter company (not my first time ) and definitely Zach. I will book with them again. Very honest (they had canceled few days prior bc of weather and made the right decision) and legit. Thanks captain and SeaSquared charters !

Captain Jason Bell put our group of 4 on fish for 3 straight days. We started with a 1/2 day and maxed out on Mangrove Snapper in an hour and then hit amberjack and mutton snapper over the wrecks. The 2nd day we went 18 miles out and spent 8 hours slaying Mahi Mahi. We took home 28 and threw back another 30+ shorts. The last day we maxed out again on the Mangrove, fought jack crevalles, barracuda and landed a beautiful black grouper. Captain Jason fileted all our fish and needless to say we sent most of it home after eating like kings for 3 days. Thank you SeaSquared Charters and Captain Jason. We'll be calling when we return to Marathon!!

Had an incredible half-day fishing experience with Capt Scott Reid of SeaSquared Charters. Scott was well prepared when my son and I arrived and we were able to get on the water a bit early. Scott is great with kids (14 years old) and most importantly, guided our trip exactly as I asked. We were fishing within 30 mins of leaving the dock and loaded the boat with mangrove and yellow tail snapper. I will ABSOLUTELY use SeaSquared and Scott again and recommend you do the same. Thanks Scott for such a great experience!

We went on a full day reef/inshore charter with Captain Alex and first mate, Nick, on the Blue Magic and it didn’t disappoint. From the get go, our crew was courteous and knowledgeable and took us to some spots few others knew.
We wanted to catch dinner and were targeting mutton snapper. Captain Alex put us on the bite pretty quickly and we ended up with 4 big muttons on ice (several others got away unfortunately)
Highly recommend doing a full day charter with these guys as it gives you more time to hit some of the prime fishing spots a bit further out. Otherwise, you are left with the spots closer to shore that everyone knows and uses (and potentially picked over).
In short, our crew was awesome and knew where the fish were and how to put us on them. They also worked their tails off! I would hire captain Alex again in a heartbeat. The only thing that was a bit of a challenge was the head which - although way better than not having one - was easier for the men to use than the ladies.

I'm confused. The website indicates this business is owned by husband and wife captains. Several of the reviews list other people that they fished with. So how do you know who's you're gonna be chartering with?

Hi there. Yes, SeaSquared Charters is owned by a husband and wife team - Captain Chris Johnson and Christy Johnson (who is not a captain). There are seven boats in our fleet, run by seven captains.
