My family of 5 booked a 6 hour offshore trip in January. One thing I've learned in the various trips I've booked around the globe is not to try to get what you want, but take what you can get. So I asked Capt. Manny, "where is the action?" He said Cobia and Sharks were the best bet, or we could go offshore for a shot at a grouper or a few bigguns. We voted for the 'dure thing' action, and boy was that the right choice. Capt. Manny had us on the Cobia big time in the 2nd of three spots. We were pulling 30" fish in left and right. Then things got more complicated as we had to reel them in ahead of the not one, not two, but three bullhead sharks. This kept on for a good while until we wanted to up our ante for some king (mackerel).
At the next spot, we kept tossing multiple attempts, had a few bites get bit straight off and finally landed a 3.5' shark. As we were about to bring the small shark aboard, we were watching a monster of a hammerhead go after our blue runner on the kite. Well we needed to dispatch of the small fry and focus on the prize at hand. Savannah had a little kite play action as we all watched in dismay when boom! It's time to get on this big ass hammerhead. Hey, YOLO. Minutes and minutes go by. Working as a team with Manny, I could tell he wanted this trophy more than I did, so I wasn't going to drop the ball. Despite multiple early attempts on the queen shark to wrap around every fish trap within reach, and a random breach of 2 bottlenose dolphin, we were determined to wire this fish. Minutes crept by, respect was greatly earned for this majestic beauty of the gulf. Within this 40 or so minute time frame, all members of the boat were one team. Communication was smooth and consistent between the Captain and myself, and we just kept trying to get a great shot of the awesome prize on the end of the line.
Few opportunities presented themselves for a great photo, but the results were indescribable regardless. When you are dealing with a king or queen of the territory, you take what they offer in reverence. This was a first for all on board, and a memory I'll never forget.
As a bass boat owner, this boat was a dream to cruise around on. Obviously , I will book Captain Manny and Two Conchs again any time I stay in Marathon. Thanks for a great trip for my whole family

We chartered 2-conchs charters out of marathon Florida for a 1/2 day fishing trip.
Being from Michigan I’ve never fished the ocean before. To many lakes and fish in our Great Lakes.
But I’ve already set my sights on another trip in 4 months.
The diversity of types of fish that are available is the big pull.
Our captain Roger and first mate Vanessa were the best you could ask for. Their patience in explaining how to hook these soft mouthed fish was crucial.
They chummed the water to bring the parrot fish to the surface, and this attracted the snapper. This was something only years of experience would know. The whole morning was so relaxing with the warm sun and gently rocking of the boat while moored on the reef.
Three of us limited out on yellow tail snapper and we took our catch to the Lazy Days restaurant that night for them to prepare and cook them. Mouth watering is the best adjective I can use.
I can’t say enough great things about Roger, Vanessa and 2-Conchs charter out of Marathon Florida!
We stayed at Isla Bella resort, a short walk to the boats from there.

This is my second time fishing with Two Conchs. I logged on to leave a review realizing I had not and happen to read some of the other reviews. I could not believe there was a single bad review. Then I saw people were upset because of the amount of fish they caught, they got sea sick or there was travel time or catching bait time in the charter. Folks, that’s called fishing. You get bait on the way out otherwise it dies before you can use it and you have to travel to get to the good spots.

As for my experience, we went lobstering day one with my family of 5– 3 boys ages 11, 13 and 17. My boys are very comfortable with the water and we brought home 8 lobster. We went with Tucker and Cam both of whom made my kids have a great day. Tucker may have helped us with a couple lobster.

Two days later we booked a half day and went to the reefs to avoid any seasickness. We crushed it quickly as we caught a lot of fish. Then we went a little further out and my 11 year caught his first ever Mahi. Capt. Cam was great on this trip as well and to see the smile on my 11 year olds face was worth the price of admission.

To the people reading the reviews, remember the charter is for the memories not the fish. Yes you will catch fish but you will eat those fish, the memories last a lifetime and Two Conchs provides those great family memories! Simply put, they’re the best in town.

There are a few positives and a lot of negatives

Good: the boat is spacious, we got some fish

Bad: Captain has an attitude, kept making annoying comments with his “instructions”
Is the main reason I will not book again was the captain.
I’m bringing my kids for the next fishing trip, this charter would make the worst option for the young ones.

We had to make a bait stop on the opposite side , Which took over 20 minutes. Why wasn’t it done prior to our getting there? It makes a difference when you pay $200 an hour.

When we took the fish to the restaurant which captain recommended, the chef brought half of it back to us at the table stating it was not cleaned well. We had to throw it out.

No bathroom on the boat, at the pick up/drop off or anywhere near.

Took family of 5 on trip with Capt Christian. Terrible customer service. No contact the day before the trip (like most charters do) to let us know what we were in for - like suggesting taking Dramamine the night before. He was argumentative and didn’t listen to any of my requests. He took us 5+ miles out in very windy condition with 4-8 foot seas in a 26 ft boat (nice boat but not proper setup for the rough seas and 3 kids). He told me we had to beat all the other boats to the location to fish - upon arrival no other charter boats in site as i am sure the other captains realized the conditions were terrible. Early in the trip as everyone was sick on board, I asked if we could return to the bay to fish and he wouldn’t do it. Would not recommend.

Another Great fishing trip with the team from Two Conchs Charters. Cpt Cam met us at the Isla Bella Resort (a great place to stay) with the 36ft Yellowfin all geared up and ready to go. We spent the day on the bay side and within minutes of dropping our first lines (a rookie member of the group) had his first fish - a Gloiath Grouper. The rest of us were catching fish as fast as the mate could hand us bait. Cam put us on several different spots catching Mackerel, Jack Carvels, snapper and (unfortunately) a few small sharks. We maxed out on Florida Pompano, with the highlight of the day being a 14lb 31" African Pompano.

We have fished with Two Conchs in the past and already have another two-day trip booked for early June. All the boats are Yellowfins and in excellent condition. The captains and mates are skilled and knowledgable regarding the local waters, and will almost always come back with your coolers full of fish.

Wasted 2 days of our vacation with their faulty equipment and unpleasant experience. As a business owner I do everything possible to make sure my customer has a good experience not the case here. Be aware they will take your money even if the motor on their boat fails and deceive you with a "good deal " for the next day!! At the end with the demanded tips and everything we have spend almost $4000 for 5 hours of fishing between the 2 trips and wasted precious time in the island with our friends. I'm so frustrated I have been to the keys every year for about 8 years and love to eat and shop local having a good time . I will never again waste my hard earned money on these people, and not recommend them to anyone either.
Not to mention that our lives were in danger with the guys running like crazy with big hook and a spear gun trying to get a big fish on the surface. We were terrified!

My family of 4 and i are on vacation staying at Isla Bella resort and very conveniently chartered two conchs 36' Yellowfin with (3) 350HP Mercury Motors for a four day fishing trip. First of all the nice lady on the phone that took my initial calls was spectacular and made me feel very comfortable even giving us options of what we should eat and do while in Marathon! So HELPFUL and fun!! It was wonderful and perfect for our 1/2 day outing! Captain Manny was the best!!! Such a nice person, funny, knowledgeable and a great fisherman. We had laughs and great fishing and took our fish to Lazy Days for a meal afterwards (Catch and cook) - try it! Delicious................. We highly recommend Two conchs and ask for Captain Manny!

Our family has been on numerous private fishing charters all over the world and I have never encountered such rude and disrespectful customer service from an owner. We paid over $1,300 for a half-day off shore excursion and it left quite a bit to be desired. We departed 45 late although our group arrived 15 minutes early as instructed. We stood in the hot sun on the dock waiting for someone to greet us. It never occurred, so I called the captain who proceeded to say he’d “get there soon”… He finally arrived from the water with his first booking group on board. We then continued to wait on the dock as they cleaned the first group’s catch and then went into the marketplace to have lunch. Finally, we were allowed to board the boat. The prior group’s food and drinks (some which had spilled/leaked) were still in the boat’s cooler. The crew spoke to our group only when we spoke to them first. They didn’t seem interested in talking with us or helping us with fishing. They would get the bait/lines ready and then just hand them out without interacting. Yes, the boat was new and clean (minus the cooler), but it didn’t make up for the late departure or lack of interaction between customers and crew. When I spoke to the activities staff at Isla Bella about our disappointment, they informed me that I had to speak directly to the owner, Jack Carlson. I called him and left a message which he did return. I have to say I have never encountered such rude and offensive behavior from a business owner. I was shocked by the disrespect and hostility shown towards me. There are too many wonderful excursion companies to choose from in the Keys area and my advice is to choose a company other than Two Conchs. Do not book with them for the ease and simplicity of the fact that they are on the Isla Bella property. They are not part of the resort and are taking advantage of customers of the Isla Bella resort.

We fished Two Conch’s Charters for the first time – booked 2 Full-day (8 hour) trips. Day 1 Offshore was pretty good. Crew worked hard to get us on fish. Day 2 on the Reef & Wrecks was a disaster!

The bilge pump system was not functioning and the alarm kept triggering when we got to our first drop spot. Despite efforts by the crew to remedy, we were required to return to shore – after a mere 1 ½ hours. We returned to shore and were advised a mechanic was summoned but there were no assurances he could quickly repair and/or we could return to the water. We decided to call it a day.

Why is this important:

We paid for a Full-day (8 hour) charter. We were refunded a Half-Day amount (4 hours). We only were on the water for 2 hours total of which about 30 minutes were actually spent fishing. This leaves 2 hours that we paid for AND RECEIVED NO VALUE. Jack Carlson (owner) still has not returned my phone requests to speak with him. His staff was polite and apologetic but not empowered to address refund issues. Mr. Carlson, do the fair thing and remedy this situation by refunding an additional 2 hours.

The reality of Two Conch’s Charters:

The boat and fishing gear we encountered showed obvious signs of age and neglect. The bilge pump area was full of plastic bags from ice, water bottles and other trash that (most likely) contributed to its failure. Other signs were seat cushions that were badly torn, knee wall bumpers that were deteriorated from wear and weathering and other chips, cracks, discoloration on many parts of the boat. Not the type of equipment you’d expect from a fleet of 16 boats.
We will not fish with Two Conch’s again. There are many other options that better address our fishing expectations.
