The island of Pigeon Key is a historic 5-acre island located in the heart of the Florida Keys! It was once the home of over 400 workers who built the Overseas Railway from Miami to Key West. Today, the island is operated by the Pigeon Key Foundation, a 501(c)-3 not for profit organization. Our Visitor's Center, which is the address listed, is where our daily historical tours depart from at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. We also operate a Marine Science Center on the island, school groups from all over the world come to Pigeon Key to be immersed in the ocean environment found right around the island. Visit our website or call our gift shop for more information about taking a tour!

I have been to Pigeon Key twice and enjoyed it both times. I love the secluded little island. The museum has lots of history of Henry Flagler and the construction of the over seas railroad. Pack a picnic to eat under a palm tree or...More

We preferred the tour 15 years ago...it seems like their current tour has been watered down a bit (more PC) than in the past. Some of the more intriguing details we recalled are no longer mentioned and it's more of a classroom environment for children...More

We love pigeon key just to go out and walk the island. They have a very interesting small museum with the history of the island and the Henry Flagler railroad! We bring all of our guests there to visit.

Great day trip to the island via boat. Excellent guided tour by a very enthusiastic and well-informed docent. Boat crew went way beyond their duties to assist handicapped person in our group with getting on and off the boat. Wish the old railroad car where...More

So many great side things to do on a routine trip to the Keys and many people drive right past them. We had driven past Pigeon Key numerous times on previous trips and finally decided to stop and it was very well worth it. Parking...More
