Captain Mike and crew were phenomenal and were so great in making sure we were taken care of.. I mean, we could snorkle at the wonders below... I cannot stress enough how easy captain hooks aka... We went out in a driving rain storm and we eventually had horrible lightning all around us. The captain made a tough call and turned the boat around, putting our safety first. He called the owner and it appeared that she wasn't happy with his decision. I sure hope she wasn't more interested in the money as our safety. The... More

Dive master Travis was awesome! Really respectful and knowledgeable. Rest of crew seemed a little off. May have just been the day. They rescued our last day of vacation, because they were the only boat in the area that was willing to risk the weather, and it turned out to be a pretty good day! This is definitely not a... More

They have a boat side dock where you can get fuel, ice, and other last minute needs including bait and food. If you get ice, ask for the 7 gallon bucket, its 3x the amount ice as a bag and only cost .50 cents more. Capt. Hooks is convenient, but the best place for fuel is Smith's which is one... More

My family and I went on the snorkeling trip with Captain Hook and had a great time. We decided late in our trip to take a second snorkeling trip as we had already snorkeled at the Sombrero Reef lighthouse earlier in the vacation with another company. Boy, were we glad we went with Captain Hook! The two reef areas we... More

We get this often from divers and snorkelers that dive/snorkel the west side of the Marathon area reefs and the lighthouse. There is less pressure on the reefs on the east-side of Marathon and often, they can be nicer with more marine-life activity. We think they set up better for snorkeling, and snorkeling & dive trip combos, because of the... More

The Marina does not own, operate, or service the boats so the marina is not at fault for any negative experience. The marina helps manage the overall operation but there is a private owner that owns the boats and rents them out of this facility. The owner has one person responsible for getting customers setup on the boats upon arrival... More

As owners of Captain Hook’s, we have experienced for over 7 years of how difficult the rental boat business can be and is the primary reason why we have chosen to leave that aspect of our business to another company. Jonn is the owner of the boat rental business and he works the business everyday. He has 18 boats to... More

Their boats are in decent shape at best. Rented 2 boats and issues with both boats. Staff was friendly enough (Justin) but boat owners obviously maintain things on a reactive basis and no preventative maintenance. Even boat manger admitted one boat was difficult to drive and leaked fluid. The other boat had bad electrical and caused bilge not to work... More

This is my 3rd year in a row down to Marathon and Capt Hooks is a must stop. We buy new shirts every year and always stop in at 4 pm at least once to watch the feedings. They have daily fish feedings of their nurse sharks, tarpon, grouper and other local fish. Highly recommend if you have kids as... More

It is great to have customers that come back to us every year. Our goal is to provide the Captain Hook's experience and service so you never want to go to anywhere else but Captain Hook's, when you come to the Keys. It is too bad that the night dive was cancelled. We are very focused on safety and night... More

We rented a boat here this last week. Did everything over the phone. I had to make a last minute change in the type of boat when I arrived and they were very accommodating. I ended up with the 23 foot Mako which was great for our family of four plus the occasional additional 2-3 passengers. The boats are decent... More

When in the middle keys, we dive with Captain Hook's. Their shop smells a bit like a bait shop (because they sell bait), but their crews are good and their dive spots are fun!

It can be a little "fishy" in our shop on occasion because we sell live shrimp, pinfish and crabs but don't you want the full Florida Keys experience? Where are my emojis when I need them. Thank you for diving with us and giving a shout out to our crew. We appreciate you taking the time to write a review...it... More
