I went on 6 dives with them on a vacation down in Marathon FL, each one with Captain Jim Wilcox. the dives were spread across 3 days. 4 were in the afternoon and 2 in the morning. The first 4 were focused on seeing the wildlife, and man was there plenty to see. I'm a relatively new diver, however my... More

I had an excellent day of shallow reef diving with Jim. The shop, gear to hire and the boat are all of a high standard; clean and good condition. The boat only takes 6 divers so you're guaranteed a small group! Plus there was no one else on the reef we visited (I travelled in May so not peak season).... More

While this center didn't have a dive master in the water, which is typical for the Keys, the captain explained the dive spots, currents, dive expectation and profile sufficiently for us to feel safe and relaxed and was very conscious of our safety at all times. The reefs, especially the Horseshoe, was spectacular.

Booked my PADI AOW and Enriched Air Diver certification with Abyss. Friendly helpful staff who answers all our questions. My group of pals was all very experienced. I was the new kid. I had 1:1 instructor training with Jim - excellent teaching personality. I was nervous starting but subsided 2nd day. We did 5 two tank dives with two on... More

Captains Jim and Tracy took our group out for my friends first snorkeling adventure. We were fit with wet suits in the shop first, as the ocean temp was only in the 70's. Shop staff and Lexi, the shop cat, are so nice and helpful, and watching my friends all get into their suits was entertainment for me! Everyone had... More

First of all renting dive gear is very expensive in Marathon. Not only here but every where. Renting in Key Largo is much cheaper. Anyway, that's not my main point. The main point is that we went to the shop and they rented 4 full dive equipment's including two tanks of air to us. When on the water it seems... More

We dove over the Labor Day weekend with this operator. I rated them average for a couple of reasons. We are experienced divers and specifically booked with this operator because their site led you to believe that the dives were in 50-80 feet of water. Not so, they are the typical Keys dive center. The closest shallow reef is the... More

Very friendly staff and prompt in responding to emails. They are one of the few dive operators in the Keys that only takes 6 divers. Most dive operators use the cattle boats and load up with divers. My only real complaint is how lacking their website is with necessary information. So I will share some information that their website does... More

Selected Abyss based on prior experience and the promptness and professionalism they exhibited in my email communications about getting my daughter's open water checkout dives completed on our family trip to the Keys. Everyone I corresponded with was female and I thought that might be the best to help her feel comfortable with the process. All the details were worked... More

We were able to book a last minute trip wit Abyss Diving in Marathon, FL. The all woman boat crew including one dive master toys us out and allowed us to dive our plan. We had dove the Thunderbolt earlier in the week with another shop but they were not receptive to our last minute request. This dive requires some... More
