After many trips with him over the past two years, I can confidently say Chris is the most enjoyable guide I’ve ever fished with. You can’t throw a rock in the Keys without hitting three guides, but you’d be hard pressed to find one more deserving of your time, money, and trust.
Of course, he knows where the fish live. In a single day last month, we had legitimate shots at bonefish, permit, snook, and redfish, and he’s put me on fish every single day we’ve gone out. His knowledge of the area, the fish, and the other wildlife is unparalleled.
More importantly though (at least to me), he’s just an awesome person to spend a day with. He genuinely wants his clients to have a good time, and it shows. His skiff is immaculate, and, during the times in between shots, he’s such an easy person to talk to. As proof, my wife came with us on my first trip with him, and he got plus points for not only making her feel welcome, but also striking up conversations that she could participate in. I can’t wait for my next few days on his bow.
Book a trip (or several) with him. You won’t regret it.

Captain Chris is an extremely professional, humble and knowledgeable guide. I have fished with him several times a year for the past 5 seasons. He has a great sense of humor and makes being on the water a pleasurable experience no matter the conditions. I started as a novice and with his guidance, I became keen on flyfishing. His patience to teach proper fly/spin angling techniques allows clients an advantage when targeting the big 3. This guide has extensive and thorough knowledge of the flats fisheries throughout the FL. Keys, be it backcountry or oceanside. Days spent fishing with Chris make for the most memorable experiences, and trust that he will put you on fish. There are many guides in the keys, but I choose Chris for his demeanor and all-around good person. Book a trip with MudPuppy Charters to experience the best sight fishing in a world-class fishery.

Fished with Chris from Mudpuppy charters. Have fished with Chris many times. He is the most patient and understanding guide I have ever fished with. On a recent trip I turned to Chris and said I need a bathroom. Somehow 5 minutes later I was climbing stairs to a Porta potty in the middle of the back country. We we on to catch 12 Bones , 10 redfish , 1 snook and one Tarpon. I highly recommend Chris at Mudpuppy charters. It took me years to find a guide like Chris and won’t fish with any other guide!

You couldn’t ask for a better guide than Chris. I’ve had the pleasure of being on his boat several times. Chris’s knowledge of the fishery, and the respect he has for it are evident in every way he handles himself. The time I’ve shared with Chris has helped me become a better angler, and it’s been a skiff load of fun each time!

I don’t even have the words to explain how amazing Chris is. We had the most amazing time on the water today. Chris is extremely professional, knowledgeable and a great teacher. We caught several species of fish, saw a few sharks and manatees. Can’t wait to do it again!!

Chris is far and away the best guide we have ever had. We have fished with Chris 2-3 times per year since 2007. He has extensive knowledge about fly fishing and the areas he fishes. Chris is unfailingly patient and helpful with his gentle assistance in helping me hone my skills; at the same time, he challenges the skilled fisherman in our pair. We highly recommend Chris!

My teen son and I spent a great deal of time researching to get the best guide for a flats fishing trip. We don't have a great deal of experience catching Bonefish, Tarpon or Permit and wanted exposure to all of it. I wanted a guide that could teach, not just show. Flats boats are small/close quarters so it's also important to pick someone who is personable. Chris exceeded my expectations on all accounts, delivered an experience on the flats we will never forget. He's the right choice for any group, most strongly recommended.

You will not find a Captain who works harder to put you on fish or who is more knowledgeable than Chris. If u are looking to sight fish with fly or spinning rods for bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, redfish, etc. you won't be happier. Both a serious angler and someone looking to experience flats fishing for the first time will be impressed with the professionalism and enjoyment from a trip with Chris. He is on the water every day that conditions allow and that pays huge dividends for anyone fishing with him. I couldn't recommend anyone more highly...and I have had the opportunity to fish with all skill levels and ages with him. It's a great trip everytime.

My husband and I just finished two 3-day fishing trips with Capt Chris Jones of MudPuppy Charters. It wasn't our first trip and it certainly won't be our last. We have been fishing 1-3 days trips, as well as tournments with Capt Chris for 9 years now and he NEVER DISAPPOINTS us. As a fishing guide he's almost too good to be true. He wants you to catch fish every bit as much as you do. Mind you, if you don't catch any fish, I can almost guarantee it's because of the angler, since Capt Chris always seems to do his job by finding the fish for you.... the rest is up to you; but don't worry, he will walk you through every step towards success if you need it. Aside from knowing the waters and the keys fish like the back of his hand, he has a wonderful personality that will make your trip one you won't forget and will want to repeat as often as possible. Can it get any better? - the answer is yes. he understands the need to protect the environment and conserve the fish population. Check out mudpuppycharters on Instagram and see for yourself. He brings his GoPro with him and you could find yourself and your big catch on his site.
